Great Job Moving and Storage

Great service! From the day I booked to the day of the move, everything went very smooth.

They were excellent in every way. The two man crew worked continuously. The lead man was excellent. Good communication skills. I would hire them again in a heart beat. I had actually used them the year before but only to unload the truck in DC. It was that first experience that got them the second bigger job. The other estimates were similar in price and we already knew they were a trustworthy company with excellent service.

Since I got an on-site cost estimate by the moving company before scheduling the service, I decided to move 2/3 of the items estimated for the cost to move them. I was able to get help from friends to most of my items because I relocated to a new home only 3 minutes walk away and two streets down from my old address. However, the moving company still charged me the full estimated cost to moving the remaining 1/3 Of the items.

I have used this company in the past and had a great experience. I had them come this time to help me move some heavy furniture upstairs and downstairs. They were excellent. Professional as always! The items I had them move were extremely heavy but they were able to move everything without damaging any walls or the items. I can't say enough good things about them!

Fabulous. As a military member, I've moved a lot over the years, and this was, by far, the best moving crew I've ever had. (NOTE: the USAF paid all the other moving crews - I paid the bill for this move, so that probably makes a big difference.) The 4-man team showed up right on time & got to work. They moved beds, dressers, washer & dryer, sofas, etc. down three flights of narrow townhouse stairs, onto a truck, and then delivered to the new house. NO DAMAGE to either house or the furniture. (NOTE: the crew that moved me into the townhouse 2 years ago gouged the heck out of the walls in the staircase). During the move out of the townhouse, the team worked for 2.5 hours without taking a break. Once the truck was loaded, they did stop for lunch on the way to the new house (which gave me time to get lunch). When they showed up at the new house they worked for another 2 hours without a break. They were very careful about the placement of furniture -- in fact, they decoratively placed my three bookcases against three small (narrow) walls in the family room -- other moving companies typically just jumble things into the appropriate room. This team really took good care of my belongings. I would definitely hire again.

The move did not go well and I was not happy with this company-at all. The movers arrived 3 hours late in smallish undersized truck. The move was extremely rushed. In the rush the movers nicked two furniture items. I still tipped the movers because I didn't feel like the whole mess was their fault. They worked very hard to get the move done fast because "their managers had done a very poor job of planning". They also charged me $119 for packing supplies and wrap. I cannot recommend this company to others because, in my view, they are undependable.

The move overall went well. The only issue we ran into was that when Alexander had provided an in person bid, he determined all the items could fit on one truck, but ultimately they did not. We had been given a not to exceed amount for 10 hours with 4 guys. When it was obvious that the items would not all fit on one truck we called Alex who dispatched a 2nd truck with a 2 man crew to come get the rest of the item following their job. We had to wait around for them and did end up paying a little extra for their time, but did not pay for the 2nd truck charge. The extra was only 150, and still close to our not to exceed amount paid. Why I rate this company high and would use them again, is because in my experience moving, something always happens- its how the company handles that something that really sets them apart. Alex was professional and worked with us to remedy the situation. I did not walk away feeling like I had to pay more than I was comfortable. In my experience with moving companies, you are at their mercy and many refuse to negotiate or work with you even if they made a mistake, they find a way to push you in a corner. I did not feel that way with G&J, I felt like they actually cared about customer service. Therefore, I would use them again.

Hired G&J for both packing and moving and couldn't have been happier. Alex was great with his estimate and organizing all aspects of the move, and all four packers and movers were punctual, professional, and hard working. The move was done on-time and under budget. Great service and would recommend to anyone.

It was a good experience. They did a great job. They were on time in the morning and they worked hard all day. They made sure everything got to the new house undamaged so they were good.

We paid a bit more than we hoped and expected, but the move went very well and the workers were very responsive and friendly.

G&J arrived within the window of time they gave us, and got right to work. All of the workers were hard working and finished within the amount of time that we had agreed to at the start.

The G&J crew was professional, prompt and pleasant and took utmost care in handling my belongings. The cost was very reasonable and matched the estimate I was originally provided. I highly recommend G & J Moving and will use them again in the future!

We were very impressed by the G&J crew. The four-man crew worked hard with only a couple of breaks on a very hot day (100 or so). They packed our belongings carefully, and after loading the items in our house they also emptied a storage unit for us. On the other end of this local move, they got everything into our smaller apartment, organizing things well and finding room for everything, One mishap did happen: One of the workers lost control of a pantry cabinet, damaging the wall. But the same worker returned the next day to repair the drywall and paint to match. I would hire these guys again with no hesitation.

It was great. They had a crew of 10 people, they had 2 trucks. They did the packing.

Ordered a 26' Truck for a move, but was given a 16' truck on the day of, with no notice. I had confirmed multiple the times the week prior -- via email and phone, that I was getting a large truck with 3 men to complete the move. On the day of, I received a call 20 mins before arrival from the moving crew, when they called to announce they were almost there, and noted "I hope you don't have a lot of stuff because I don't have a big truck." When I tried to reach the company to find out what was going on, they were incredibly difficult to reach--the # on the website led to voicemail, and voicemail boxes were full. I tried multiple different numbers--the posted number on the website, as well as the direct numbers for the managers I had spoken with earlier in the week to confirm my move, to no avail. When I did reach one manager, who was the individual who signed me up, and was supposed to have ensured my "smooth move," he was incredibly rude and defensive, blaming the truck rental company for their not having a truck the morning of. He did not explain why I was not notified hours earlier, rather than by the moving crew, who had no idea they were ever supposed to have a larger truck. I did manage to reach a second manager, who I had confirmed my details with, and he was more professional. He did what he could to fix the situation by providing an additional discount and not charging for the travel time associated with the second trip. However, their only excuses were that "summer is a busy time, and it's also the end of the month, so lots of people are moving." Due to their error, the move, which should have been one trip, was forced to be two trips, including travel time to and from DC in rush-hour afternoon traffic. Move took 10 hours instead of the quoted 5. Luckily, the crew who showed up to do the move was great, and worked really hard to get us moved in. This is the only reason I'm giving a review with any positivity.

I was given a two hour window for a three man crew working for two hours plus one hour travel time. The crew was supposed to call me and let me know when they are arriving. I did not hear from them and called the company to find out. First, they told me that the move was scheduled for the next day and when I insisted that I have an email confirmation for that day, they said they will contact the crew and get back to me in the next 10 minutes. I had to call back to follow up as I did not hear from them in the said time frame. Eventually, a crew of two came just as the two hour window was closing. They said that they will adjust the price to reflect that a two man crew came. They totally missed the point that we agreed for a three man crew to have the work done faster and perhaps more efficiently. They said that the original crew would have been delayed significantly and so the two guys who were in the office decided to hop on the truck and come over. Soon after they realized that in their rush, they forgot to bring any tools (needed to disassemble some furniture). They would have to go to Home Depot to buy the tools, but they told me that they will stop the clock when they went. Again missing the point or caring less about my time wasted waiting for them to finish the job. They were gone for about an hour (although a Home Depot store is less than 5 minutes from my house). The multiple delays also left us to face severe thunderstorms that were expected in the evening (these could have been avoided if the crew had come on time, with the right contingent and tools). But they kept telling us they don't control the weather. Again, not accepting that they controlled everything else and were late and unprepared. Both the guys were polite and nice but did not do a professional job. They had no regard for the time of the client. The job took twice the time that it was expected to take.

Our moving team consisted of Roman (lead), Cheppe, and Vasya. They arrived well within the estimated arrival window (calling the day prior to confirm) and got to work right away. First they surveyed our apartment and went over the different rooms/items we needed moved. Roman then went over a breakdown of how we'd be charged and any extra charges we might occur (eg roles of tape to wrap furniture, optional services to wrap couches in plastic, etc). They carefully wrapped all our furniture in blankets and moved each piece down several flights of stairs onto their truck. G&J does not charge for blankets, but they do charge $4 per roll of tape (and they'll use a lot of tape but it's to be expected). When it was time to head to the delivery location, they confirmed the address and how to get there. They also asked if it was ok to break away for lunch (off the clock), which worked out well because we wanted to pick things up ourselves. Moving in went fairly smooth-- they worked quickly to unload the truck and deliver things to the rooms we wanted. I'd recommend labeling your rooms ( a piece of paper + some masking tape) to make it easier on the crew and yourself--- saying "that goes to Room #3" is a lot easier than "the second on the left, top floor". They laid out a stair cover to protect our hardwood stairs-- but it slid often and didn't really do all that much for the top of the stairs (still glad they used something). There's also a few bumps and scuffs on the walls, but our townhouse has a fairly narrow stairwell-- it's to be expected and easy to fix with some touchup paint. Only one piece of furniture was damaged, the top of our coffee table had a deep scratch. I'm honestly not sure how it happened because they wrapped it so well-- since it's ikea branded I didn't feel like it was worth the energy to pursue trying to file a claim with G&J (I'm not even sure I'd really have success with that, tbh). Overall, pretty good move. I'd probably use them again.

Arrived on time and got right to work. They did an excellent job wrapping and loading. We had a lot of awkward items like tool chests and a less than ideal parking situation, so the load took almost twice as long. No fault of theirs. They put in an incredibly long day and didn't bat an eye.

The gentleman on the phone explained that the time would not start until they started moving. They began charging when they arrived BEFORE the time we agreed on because they were early. The move went swell enough. They were done quickly and within the time I had prepaid for through Angie's list. We felt somewhat shamed into tipping (which was fine, I didn't know you were supposed to tip movers.). In the end, I called two weeks later because I realized the leaves to my table were missing, and storage unit was empty when we left. The guy explained that the trucks are checked at the end of the day and it's not in there. He would not even go check the truck! My husband and I thought for the amount of garbage then kept in the truck, two leaves that look like two pieces of wood could have gotten lost in there. Apparently not. I am not sure what I will do about the missing leaves to my 30 year old table set, but this is why i would not reccommend them- because they would not even check.

Called for an estimate, was told to use website. There was a lot of back and forth, but we finally got scheduled a week out. They arrived early which apparently was when the clock started. They were actually quite quick- granted I only had boxes, no furniture, in a 12x10 storage unit. They moved everything 2 flights up to my condo. Not sure if you're supposed to tip, but we did. Nothing was broken or missing at the end of the day. We paid 400 for 3.5 hours- if I remember correctly.

Aside from a billing snafu involving moving our piano which they fixed when we pointed it out, excellent. The guys were great and took great care of our stuff. Efficient and got the job done. Thanks very much.

They were prompt, helpful, and hardworking. There was a slight English problem and some of them came across as a bit brusque - but overall they were focused on getting the work done as carefully possible. They were not technically equipped well, so I was glad I used them for the smaller move. I used them twice and found them very useful for this type of move. I moved the furniture from my 4 bedroom townhome, as well as a large amount of stuff from my full garage.

Everything went extremely well. Final cost was somewhat below the estimate. Moving crew was great (Foreman: Roman; Crew: Jose, Chepe, Ammi, Emilio). Crew was courteous, professional, trustworthy, accommodating and flexible. Took great care wrapping all our belongings well. We had zero damage. We highly recommend them to others and would contract with them again personally.
