The 3 movers arrived well within the time window provided and provided communication estimating the exact arrival time. They quickly wrapped and secured all of the furniture with the truck and safely got all of the cargo to the nearby destination. Everything was delivered in the same condition that it left in and all of the provided movers were cordial and amicable. Would highly recommend to anyone within the area planning on moving and would personally use them again.

We used GJ moving company for a large, interstate move. We were extremely disappointed with every aspect of the service, from the packing, to moving, to unloading, to the customer interaction. To begin, the packing crew was three hours late, resulting in them being at our house well into the night and not completing all the packing on the date of packing. They also did not send the number of packers that they had said they would. The next day, moving day, the crew was four hours late. There is no reason an arrival window should be given if the crew cannot arrive during that time frame. Their late arrival led to sloppy packing that ultimately caused damage to many of our items. Had they arrived on time, they would not have gone late into the day/night on both packing and loading days, and would not have rushed to pack our items, resulting in multiple things being damaged. Additionally, they rammed their truck into a tree as they closed out the packing late at night. This caused damage to the truck, opening a large gash on the truck roof while our items were tightly packed inside. Onto the damage: 1) We were told by the foreman that they were going to wrap all of our jewelry. Upon delivery and unpacking of the jewelry armoire, we discovered that they had left all the jewelry in it, resulting in all of the necklaces being hopelessly tangled inside. Most of the jewelry was costume jewelry, but it still carried a value. The fact that the foreman told us that they would remove everything from the armoire and it was delivered with everything inside is what was most disconcerting. Essentially, we were lied to and the crew was simply too lazy to do the work that they said they would do. We unfortunately had to cut many of the necklaces apart. Additionally, as I did one final walk through in our house, I found several single earrings on the floor in our bedroom. They had fallen out of the jewelry armoire and disregarded by the crew. 2) Many picture frames were damaged and scratched because although they were supposed to all be individually wrapped, it appears as if they got lazy and simply stacked them on top of one another within a mirror box rather than wrapping them. Those that were shipped this way had damage resulting from the hardware on the back of the frame scraping into the finished side of the other frame. 3) We were told that all furniture would be blanket wrapped. I asked multiple times to ensure that they were and was assured that it was or would be. The hutch of our entertainment center was not wrapped and as a result there was a gash in the wood. There was also damage done when unloading: 1) The movers broke our dining table. We watched them carry the entire weight of the table on its side, by the legs. The leg snapped off. Had the movers been trained properly they would have known that you can't carry top-heavy tables by the leg. 2) They took apart our plastic play set to help it fit in the truck. We allowed them to take it apart with the understanding that it would be reassembled upon delivery. It was not, even after I pointed it out to the foreman. By the end of unloading the team of movers was spent. They did not seem interested in doing anything else. The foreman was checked out, was not motivated, and simply did not appear to want to do anything further. 3) The moving team sent to unload our stuff was too small. They were supposed to unpack our boxes for an additional fees of which we were 100% planning to take advantage of. They left without unpacking a single box because they took far longer than expected to unload the trucks. The crew was not large enough. 4) In addition to the damage to items that they were tasked with delivering, they damaged the newly finished wood floors in our new house. A large gash was found on the steps leading up to the bedrooms. Finally, the customer service: 1) The moving crew told us to hold on to the damaged table specifically in case it could be fixed otherwise they could take it back to the warehouse and dispose of it. They never came to fix it or dispose of it, but sent us a check for $50. Now we are stuck with a check which is supposed to cover the amount of the worth of the furniture but doesn't come close, and won't even cover the amount to haul the table away and dispose of it. 2) We were informed that the steps would be fixed, not just have a check issued. This again is an inconvenience as we now have to do the research to find a qualified technician, price them out, and get them to come out and do the work. 3) Even with all the mistakes and all the damage, no one from the company had the courtesy to call us to discuss the issues despite multiple requests. They were responsive via email when I reached out to them, but they should have circled back to keep us informed and at the very least to check in on the damaged items. A phone call would have resolved a lot. In summary, this company gave us the cheapest moving quote, but we made a huge mistake in trying to save money by going with them. Their initial customer service was great and they were responsive, but the ultimate end product and the purpose for hiring them, the move, had a far less than desirable result.

We moved a twenty years worth of stuff from one big house to another. We couldn’t have asked for an easier translation than what we got with GJ Moving. These guys were great. The owner, Eric, does all the In home estimates to ensure accuracy of the bid and that you will get a fair and competitive price. The gentlemenwho packed and moved are belongings were friendly and so hardworking. Great communication, flawless effort. Two Thumbs UP!

punctual, responsive, took good care of furniture

The guys got there as early as they could and work great as a team to get the job done. They brought all the tools they needed. The truck was a bit too small but they made it work and got all the home packed and shipped in one day. I have moved many times in the service and was shocked there was no inventory created of all items packed. I would have created a better inventory than I had if I knew the company does not create one. I would hire them again and Eric managed the billing and coordinating spectacularly, probably why I went with this company in the first place, earned my trust up front.

Overall, quite well. Quote was prompt and professional, team showed up on time and worked professionally and diligently. Good communication, by phone, email and text. As we've been unpacking, I've found a few minor issues - a fragile Hopi bear fetish was placed unwrapped inside a sneaker and broken as a result; clean clothes packed directly on top of dirty shoes, with no paper in between, but these are pretty minor. The quote did underestimate the cost of the move by about 20 percent, which was disappointing. Was grateful for willingness to schedule on a Sunday.

My experience with G&J Moving was phenomenal, from my first interaction with the Eric, the sales rep, to the actual move of my possessions from one location to another. The first move of furniture to storage went without a hitch. The crew arrived on time and was professional, courteous, friendly, respectful and attentive to details. I identified the furniture pieces to be transported and the crew worked quickly and efficiently to get the pieces onto the truck. I was particularly impressed with the crew’s work ethic. They wasted no time in prepping my furniture for transport and were careful to ensure that all furniture was properly wrapped to prevent damage. Prior to leaving, they confirmed that all pieces to be moved were on the truck and that I was satisfied with the task completion. The second move to my new home was just as positive. Due to personal circumstances, the transport date was a moving target and Eric worked with me to arrange and rearrange dates & move locations. I appreciated his flexibility and patience with multiple changes throughout the process. On the actual move date, the crew was equally as impressive as the first time around and the actual move went incredibly smoothly and quickly. All in all, I could not be happier with my experience. The initial price quote for both moves was very competitive and there were no pricing surprises at the completion of each job. The sales staff and move crew were exceptional and delivered what they promised. I would not hesitate to use G&J again and, in fact, have already recommended them to others.

Hard working team packed my household goods and trucked them to Pittsburgh. There were a lot of steps here at my condo in Reston and my home in Pittsburgh - I’m certainly no longer up to the task. They were diligent and wrapped my goods before loading them into the truck. The goods arrived in the ‘Burgh in tact suffering no damage in the transit. My only nit is that I was promised a pick up between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., and they arrived closer to 11:00 a.m. Not a major deal, but the only thing between them and A’s across the board. Highly recommended.

Over $5000 - Damaged every piece of nice furniture except the China Cabinet to include: Formal dining room table, both leaves (dragged unwrapped them across the bed of the truck), DENTED 100 yr old piano (do not trust sales person - they are NOT piano movers - did not even know how to remove the pedals, and did not install legs correctly. Laid our kitchen table TOP DOWN on the metal transition strip between the carpet and tile, which scratched the surface. Cut grooves into the formal dining room table. Didn't load the piano so they needed to come back (8 people) so they could charge another $1000, instead of $175 the day of the move. Broke several lamps, splinters in the mattresses, placed boxes and furniture in the wrong rooms. Dented the piano and did not set the legs correctly. Save your goods and yourself a lot of pain. Thousands in damage, offered $300 in damages. Too many issues to list here. GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE!

I very rarely write reviews but G&J was phenomenal from start to finish! Very quick response to my request for a quote, great communication throughout the planning and confirmation, plus they were by far the most affordable and flexible. And on the day itself - Franklin and Jose did a FANTASTIC job and truly went above and beyond! I vastly underestimated how much I had to move and how long it would take, but when I told them I had time constraints they moved at lightening speed to get it all done, and with a wonderful sense of humor. Total rock stars!!

Absolutely great experience. The two movers arrived right on time and very carefully but very quickly loaded the truck. They drove directly to Woodbridge and unloaded the truck and put everything in the new apartment just as quickly and safely as they did in DC.

The crew of 4 movers arrived as planned on morning of move. All were completely courteous and helpful, and obviously knew exactly what they were doing. They did their work efficiently, quietly (no drama!!), and took great care with my belongings. It took a bit under 3 hours to load the truck. As expected, I paid half of the estimate, plus materials, when the truck was loaded (G&J provided boxes, paper, and tape; I did almost all packing myself). They (3 of the original 4 guys) met me in Charlotte the next afternoon and proceeded to unload the truck in about 2 hours. There was not so much as a scratch on anything. The professionalism of every person I encountered (including my moving crew, the rep who came to my home to do the estimate,and the office staff on the phone when I called with questions) was beyond reproach. I would not hesitate to recommend G&J to anyone (in fact, I already have).

The experience was terrible due to the fact that no one came out to assess the move. In the end, that made the original quote useless. The crew that did show up was courteous and professional but they were slow. This contributed to the two main issues. First, Since no one came out to assess the size of the job they didn't send enough workers or a large enough truck. The crew told me this happens to them all the time and leaves them under-manned and unable to complete the job as quoted. They all called and complained to their boss but nothing changed. They shared it is a constant complaint that jobs are quoted all the time with no one ever visiting the property. This happened despite the fact that I called the company after the initial quote to tell them there would be significantly more to move than anticipated. They said they would send a bigger crew and truck but it was still insufficient. The second issue is that this is an hourly gig. The quote was for 7-8 hours but it took 13. I estimate that 4-5 of that was wasted "wrapping" stuff. The degree to which they wrapped things was completely unnecessary for a 20 mile move and cost an additional $800. CRAZY! I'm also pretty sure I paid for an hour or two of smoke breaks. The job wasn't finished until 11pm and in total took 13 hours. And since the truck wasn't big enough, I had to rent a U-Haul the next day to finish so add that cost on too. The last straw was finding a box of broken dishes the crew broke and then hid in the garage behind some other stuff. There was a trail of broken glass that led right to where their truck was. Really disappointing after tipping them for their patience. I would not recommend these guys to anyone.

Advertised a price match guarantee, but wouldn't honor it. Quick to take it down, but not to offer a response. No thanks on these guys.

The company had a conflict though they confirmed the date and time. They didn't show up so we had to find another company. I called many times to get my money back but never received it from Angie's LIST.

I was expecting the movers to arrive between 9 and 9:30am, but they arrived at 10:30am. They worked for 6 hours with no breaks. I paid the amount that was quoted which rarely happens with moving companies. Thanks Alex & Ed.

G&J did everything really well. Alex came over right away to give me a quote. They worked well with a new job that I had which was paying for the move. The packers were extremely courteous and thorough. Not one thing was broken along the way. I had a treadmill that had to be taken apart and reassembled on the other side that I was sure wouldn't make it. They got everything put back together. We had a dedicated truck and they did everything on my schedule. It was fantastic!

Good overall, but -- we had a few problems with damage moving furniture into our new home. Biggest problem was damage to our stairwell wall, but G&J made it right with no argument. Also we had a few pieces of furniture scratched because it wasn't wrapped.

Mostly excellent. Alex's planning and organization for the move was outstanding. It was a three-day job to pack and move. The packers did an excellent job. Nothing that was packed in boxes was damaged. The crew were extremely hard workers and had positive attitudes throughout a very challenging move, especially the last day which was VERY long. With so much activity going on throughout the house, recommend having enough eyes-on. At one point, they were about to load a brass bed headboard on the truck without any wrapping. As it was they had run out of blankets and only used paper - this resulted in damage to the bed that cannot be repaired. This was an unfortunate mistake to an otherwise outstanding move. G&J were up to the effort and I highly recommend them.

The move went excellently. They were friendly, professional and efficient in disassembling my furniture, packing and loading the moving truck in VA as well as loading my belongings into my storage unit in OH.

They did a great job moving large furniture out of a townhouse with narrow stairs, as well as a fully packed storage unit. They were professional, punctual and really friendly!

All four movers did an excellent job and were agreeable and displayed a positive attitude in helping us with some last minute packing. This is the second time in two years that we have used this company and can whole heartedly recommend them.

It was great! The team was fast, friendly, punctual, and handled my furniture with care. I moved into a town home with several flights of stairs and the guys handled them with ease, even with the heavy pieces, not breaking anything or damaging the walls. Plus, they went OVER AND BEYOND by helping me navigate the moving truck into a really narrow alleyway, which I was so grateful for. Moving always sucks, but it helps to have friendly and professional movers. Would definitely recommend!
