Very pleasant interactions but had to change my moving date.

Very well. Geoff and his team were professional, punctual and courteous. The job ended up costing more because of the overtime and additional packing supplies but still worth it.

I cannot say enough positive things about these guys. Scheduling was easy. They showed up in the window that they said they would. The 3 guys were very nice and professional. They worked extremely hard (3rd floor with no elevator). They were careful and considerate of my belongings. And it was for an extremely fair and reasonable price (no hidden charges). While I hope not to be moving again for quite some time, I would call G&J Moving in a heartbeat if I did. Great job guys, thank you once again.

We purchased the deal from Angie's List. Had good communication with the company. Unfortunately, scheduling a time to move that worked for all parties involved didn't work out. Our move is also outside their primary service area so there is an additional charge for mileage. Overall a good experience and I would absolutely contact G&J Moving in the future for a local move.

Crew arrived as scheduled. The move itself went smoothly. As it was a very hot day, they had a hard time getting the truck started and called for backup crew to come jump-start them. Otherwise, no other glitches. They men were professional and took their time in moving our fragile items. We would definitely use them again!

I was also surprised that some supplies I would consider standard (tape, furniture shrink-wrap, etc) were not included in the hourly rate as is common with other companies.

I was excited about the coupon and suggested several dates. Unfortunately, the mover was busy on all of them and I had no additional flexibility. So there was no way they could honor the coupon. Through it all they were very nice and always professional.

Before buying this deal: Be prepared to pay considerably more out of pocket on move out day. I hate to write bad reviews, but feel I need to share my experience with G&J to prevent others from being stuck holding a significantly larger bill than expected for a job only 2/3 of the way completed. After much research and comparison we chose G&J through an Angie's List deal to move from a one bedroom apartment in DC to a 2 bedroom house in Takoma Park. G&J has recieved great reviews from Angie's List and the price of the deal was way below what we'd be quoted from "name-brand" movers. Once we booked our deal, Angie's list put us in contact with G&J to confirm availabilities and fill out an inventory list of our belongings to provide us with a better sense of the full cost of the move. Luckily G&J had a team free on the day that we needed. Before buying any of these deals, it's probably best to call ahead to confirm that they're free, otherwise you could be stuck with a coupon for a specific moving company that's not free on the date/s you need to move. Once we filled out the form, my wife and I were quoted 6-8 hours for the move along with miscelanious moving costs if the movers needed to pack/wrap items for you like mirrors, TVs, etc. The higher end of the time estimate provided by G&J factored in the possibility of having to make multiple trips due to the size of the 16 foot truck and the amount of belongings we had. They also explained that every hour over the initial 4 hours would cost us $75 an hour. In their emails G&J was careful to note that these were not, "not-to-exceed" estimates and that 50% of the time the actual time needed was less and the other 50%, the time needed was more. This is due to the length of your hallways and how much packing needs to be done by the movers, etc. Our building has long hallways, so to help ensure we were in the 50% group that needed less time, we pre-packed our apartment and pre-moved delicate items like our electronics, china, glassware and pictures. In total, we made around 6 carloads worth of stuff. The day of the move, the movers arrived within the window provided by G&J. The movers were curtious and began moving the major furniture while I finished packing remaining boxes in the nursery. 10am rolled into noon then to 1pm and the apartment was still full of stuff. The movers, while careful not to damage anything were not covering enough ground to get a first truckload over to the new house within the time we anticipated so by 1:00, I grabbed a cart and began making runs down to the truck myself. It took five and a half hours just to get the first truckload full, before we could get to the house. By the time they unloaded the truck (with our help) the movers had burned through an entire 8 hour work day and 1/3 of our belongings were still at the apartment. By then our building's loading dock was closed and what's more, trucks are not allowed back into the building on Saturdays/Sundays to move the remaining items from the apartment. G&J would have happily sent another crew back on Monday at the rate of $75 an hour to finish the job, but that would have taken at least another 3 hours and additional time off of work on our end to supervise. So in the end, we ended up having to move the remaining items ourselves over the weekend, taking significant time and energy in moving things that we understood would be moved by G&J. In total we ended up paying $851($359 Angies Deal + $372 (extra 4 hours and moving tape/materials to pack 2 mirrors) + $100 tip for the movers + $20 lunch and sodas for the movers) and we still had to spend the rest of the weekend moving ourselves. After the move, I tried unsuccessfully to remedy the issue with G&J, given the poor estimate and unfished work, but once you've paid, there is very little that you can do. Unlike other movers, G&J does not provide "not to exceed estimates," and so technically they're note accountable for what they do quote you at the end of the day. Like in our case, the actual time used can be wildly over what you get quoted, and your stuck holding the bill. So before you click buy on this deal, fully weigh your options. Other mover's estimates may be more expensive, but you may actually end up saving time, money and a significant amount of energy by looking elsewhere.

They were so professional and excellent. They wrapped up our leather couch and love seat with plastic. They wrapped and packed our flat screen televisions (this was an additional charge, but well worth it if you have newer furniture). They asked me where I wanted things placed in the new house, as opposed to just leaving them wherever. They didn't leave until we were satisfied with where everything was. We bought the package through Angie's list ahead of time. They were great with communication and readily responded to our phone calls. I would use them again.

It was within the price. The movers were wonderful. There were three movers. They worked the three hours. Very straight forward, no glitches. The movers said they love the company they worked for.

We were originally scheduled to move at 8am after confirming this with the scheduler over the telephone and receiving an email confirmation. A few days prior to the move, I contacted the company to confirm and the scheduler stated we were not scheduled for a move. I sent them the confirmation email I had previously received and they put us on the schedule and moved up our time slot to 11am. This was disappointing, but I could not hire another moving company since I purchased and used the coupon from Angie's list (4 hours for movers) for the specific move. On the day of the move, the drivers did not show for approximately two hours after the start time due to traffic. However, they were courteous to call and advise on their progress. It was a rainy day, which made it more miserable. Moving is never easy. Once they arrived, the movers worked non stop to move our items delicately into the truck. They were professional and courteous at all times. The traffic to the new place was horrendous because of the time period. I was hoping for an exception outside the 4 hour window since we were scheduled to move in the morning (traffic is much lighter in the metro area then). But once the move was completed, we were one hour over our time period and were assessed additional fees. Though the move was miserable due to the rain and traffic, it was still successful. Not sure if I would use the company again. I was a bit disappointed with the administrative side of things and the extra cost due to traffic (even though the movers were late to arrive). The movers were professional, but the scheduling mistake was a bit discerning.

Initial contact great, prompt arrival and packing, with extra paid to pack 3 large TV's. Took great care to take apart beds and 2 tables, put back together the tables, not the beds. Mostly everything was great, however the were unable to get the queen sized box springs up the bedrooms, so they left both in the living room, said it would be too time consuming to continue to try. ( later my son moved the box spring up by himself as I have knee issues and could not sleep only on the mattress) also could not move the top of the armoire up or down to the basement or upstairs bedroom, so it also was put in the living room. I did let the owner know, no offer was made to move the other boxsprings.

timely and careful with belongings

These guys are fantastic! I used a Big Deal the first time and had them load a PODS container then deliver stuff to a storage unit. Andrei was exceptional at loading the truck and storage unit. Ben was the team leader and he was great to work with. On moving day I contracted separately with G&J and requested the same crew. It was an 8.5 hour move! They unloaded one storage unit, loaded furniture from a condo, delivered and unloaded at the new house, unloaded the PODS container then went back to storage to unload a smaller unit and deliver it to the condo! I had many heavy items. I was amazed that I only had a few light scuff marks on the walls - nothing even remotely close to what could be considered damage. So far with unloading we've encountered no damaged articles. This was a tough move and the guys were exceptional. I've had many moves, both local and international, and these guys by far have been the best! Highly recommend Ben and his team!

The movers called before they arrived, arrived as scheduled, were super careful, extremely cheerful and helpful! The cost was exactly as estimated! Overall a fantastic experience!

very smooth move. the movers were very respectful of my possessions. they worked very consistently and were very accomodating on a few special requests i had. the majority of the move was to move my belongings from old house to new but also to move some items from new to old and to move funriture in new house to differant rooms . . great friendly crew, easy to work with. the owner was very nice also. they finished in 4 hrs.

They were wonderful! They did the move on a Sunday and I was going to try to call Saturday to confirm, but forgot. They called me on Saturday! They arrived within the time limit and called 20 minutes before hand to let me know they were on the way. The movers were very polite. They were careful with the furniture and the move went off beautifully! I would definitely recommend them!

They were a crew of 3 people and Truck. They were professional, friendly and hard working. They explained me all the cost upfront and did the move quite smoothly without wasting any time. I will definitly recommend them.

The personnel arrived earlier than planned and expected me to be ready to let them in and start moving. They were not very friendly. They used way too much tape which they charge a premium for. The tape is a very small roll and of such poor quality that it tears on them when they do not want it to. It took them longer for them to move my one bedroom apartment than has when I have moved my whole house.

G&J were great. They were in contact with us before the move and let us know they were on the way a half hour before they showed up. They got right to work and had their truck packed with the contents of our one bedroom apartment in about an hour. They never took a break and drove directly to our new apartment complex. Again, as soon as they got their they went right to work and had everything unpacked in our new place as quickly as possible. Not only were they extremely fast but nothing was damaged in the process, not even a scratch. My wife and I have moved several times in the past few years and G&J were by far the fastest and most effective. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again in the future.

The gentleman from the company who took the order was professional and helpful - good customer service skills. The two movers sent were unpleasant, did not wrap, use pads or moving blankets until I asked where they were. They went back to the truck, retrieved and used. Move then went smoothly.

G&J provided two movers to empty our storage unit and pack our rented truck for a 700-mile relocation. We needed to hire professionals who knew how to pack the truck to prevent the load from shifting and to maximize the space in the truck. Dennis and Bol arrived at the designated location exactly as promised. Before starting they surveyed the load and the loading conditions, and then went to work. They were both very hard workers and did not waste any time during the loading process. They were very professional and friendly. They handled our packing boxes and the few items of furniture very carefully, and packed the truck as if they had been playing Tetris all their lives. Every inch of space was used to the maximum, and we even had some room left in the truck after they were done. The load was also very stable. After the first few miles on the road, I pulled the truck over to inspect the load, and I only had to make one minor adjustment to the shoring straps to increase the tension. As their final assignment, I had them pack our 46" flat screen television. They wrapped it very well, and then placed it in the truck using other furniture (that was well wrapped) to absorb the bumps in the road. All of the furniture and the television arrived in excellent shape. An excellent job, and I would hire this company again in the future when the need arises.

The move went great. The movers called me 30 minutes prior to their arrival and got to work immediately. They took very good care of each piece of furniture and were very careful moving out of my old place into my new place. After all the furniture was moved and placed where I asked, I didn't like how my living room was set up. I asked the movers if they could rearrange the pieces, which they had no problem doing. I highly recommend their service as it was cost effective and professionally done (all other quotes were double the price).

Guys did a great job. Very professional and did a great job moving very heavy object into my house. I would use them again.
