Great Job Moving and Storage

Overall, G and J Moving did an excellent job with our move. It did take longer than originally planned, but Alex was able to go out of his way to ensure that everything was moved within our timeframe. We had 2 trucks and 7 men working on a very hot July day. The onsite supervisor was excellent, very organized and able to direct his crew efficiently. Our furniture was wrapped carefully, and we had no damage to any of our belongings. The cost of our move was very reasonable, and I would highly recommend this company.

I'm quite happy with the service. The movers arrived on time. They were generally very well organized and professional. I had two movers for moving from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom apartment. We had an initial hiccup with the service elevator at our move-out place, but they worked through it by helping pack some remaining stuff. The move-in was pretty quick. If I have one minor complaint, it is that they arrived in a truck even though I was going to rent a U-Haul. They knew this, but had "no other vehicle" with which to arrive. I ended up using their truck and cancelling the U-Haul, but only because I didn't already bring the U-Haul when they arrived. Had I already rented out a truck, we would have had two trucks to park in downtown DC, which would be impossible. Overall, I was happy with the service and would recommend the movers.

The company showed up on time; however, their truck lift was broken and they spend an hour and a half fixing that before they moved anything. I had a strong discussion with them regarding giving me extra time to make up for this, but was pleased overall once they started working.

Alexander from G and J made moving very easy and comfortable. He was always available to answer any questions that I had and very helpful. Moving is a very stressful endeavor but working with this company made it a lot more manageable. I really appreciated the crew because they were friendly, professional, fast, and pleasant to work with. I have moved a few times before and previously have had movers who seem shady or have bad attitudes. That is the worst experience because they are carrying all your stuff and you need to tell them where to put things or unpack things. I was very happy with the level of professionalism each of his diverse crew showed. Nothing was broken or mishandled, another major bonus! I would most certainly use this service again!

G&J Moving was AMAZING! I have moved several times, and have had some really awful experiences, so it was such a relief to find a team of movers that were on time, effective, and actually cared about the condition of our things and home while they moved us. The move came in under the amount of time it was estimated to take, and the final cost was very reasonable. No surprise fees, no catches, no nonsense. And no damage too! Beyond that, I felt very comfortable with the team that showed up. Comprised of four really genuinely nice guys, I was not concerned about being alone with them. I would recommend G&J, and will, to anyone with an upcoming move looking for a professional, fast and cost-efficient experience.

You could tell that these were not professional movers. I've always gone with JK Moving Services but wanted to save some money. But you could tell the difference. I would recommend them if you aren't looking for professional movers but a good cost. Their cost is incredible.! But you get what you pay for.

The arrived on time and were very professional. Moved everything in the time they estimated and secured it all perfectly. I drove from Washington DC to Seattle, WA and everything arrived perfectly. They convinced me to wrap more than I had wanted to, and that made a big difference. The furniture I said not to worry about was beat up a bit more than the wrapped.

All moves are stressful and Alex, the team leader, kept his cool even when we experienced obstacles such as a piece of furniture that wouldn't fit, elevators that were being used by another mover, and a downpour at the second location. He and his staff had a positive attitude throughout the entire day. In addition, they moved all of the furniture without scratching or breaking anything. Kudos to Alex and his team.

I contacted G&J Moving, sending them a detailed list of what needed to be moved and stated we had a very specific moving date, which was just outside of two weeks away. They said that date was available but wanted to meet so they could review the move and provide an estimate. They just called to reschedule and I mentioned that we were losing time and was that possible given the move date was July 2nd. He checked and said unfortunately that date is no longer available. They gave the date away without contacting me and wanted to continue anyway. Really? He apologized (save it) and now the pressure to find a mover is even greater. G&J your schedule is not the only one involved in moving. Your customers have them too. DO NOT USE THEM. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND CUSTOMER NEEDS.

Went Very Well! Movers were polite, asked questions when appropriate and did an excellent job packing antique and fragile items for transport and storage. No complaints!

The moving crew arrived later than expected and took longer than expected. They originally informed me that they would be on site between 8-10 am, but did not arrive until 10:30 am. The original estimate for a 4-man crew was 4-5 hours, but they took 7 hours, which almost doubled the bill. The crew did a good job of protecting the furniture to avoid damage and cleaning up afterwards. One crew member, Jose, did a great job in moving a large dresser upstairs when the crew leader was ready to give up. Thank you Jose! A friend of mine highly recommended this company. They moved her from a single home to another single with a 3 man crew in less than 4 hours for $600. This is one of the reasons why I chose this company. I still can't believe it took them 7 hours and I ended up paying $1270 from an approximate $600 estimate. If you decide to use this company be aware that their estimated hours may be low and that the cost for the shrink wrap, bubble wrap, and tape can be very expensive over and above the hourly work estimate. In my case it amounted to more than $250. It would have been helpful if they had included this cost in the original estimate.

This was an Angie's Deal of two men for four hours with a 16 foot truck. They arrived promptly and quickly went to work. Although they looked average, they were both strong and worked steadily. Before moving the furniture, they wrapped it securely. First they put on a moving blanket and taped it. Then they wrapped that with a clear plastic layer. None of our furniture was damaged or got dirty. I was unaware of the furniture wrapping and that added to the time needed so they ran over by an hour. I had no objection since they worked hard the entire time. There was an additional charge of $71 for maerials - the tape and clear plastic wrap. I don't know where they are buying those but that is an unreasonable amount. There was also a 4% charge to use a credit card.

Overall, very well. One of the guys didn't pull his weight, but another did the work of two people (Mighty Mouse), so it worked out.

G&J were incredibly accommodating to our schedule, even when we had last-minute changes. And they did a great job on the move - very courteous and efficient. Would definitely use again.

After seeing an Angie's List coupon online for 2 movers for 4 hrs I called to inquire about the deal. The initial communication on the phone was fast and courteous, and after I told them about my situation, only moving a partial household they recommended (almost insisted) that I go with the 3 person for 3 hours. I would have preferred more time but I deferred to the expert. I told the person on the phone that my current house was on a significant hill and that I was moving into a condo (with elevators reserved for the day). We set everything up and I got ready for the 3rd. The movers arrived at the end of their stated window and I received no call that they were arriving. From the very moment they showed up I knew it was going to be a struggle. The hill is a challenge and being a military family I have moved into/out of this house several times. I have seen very frustrated movers (which is why I told the company about the hill, since I was paying, not the government.) which doesn't make for a good experience. After coming in to survey what would be moving they started to tell me about all the supplies I was going to need to buy from them. I said, as I said on the phone, that I did not want to be nickeled and dimed and immediately felt like I was getting taken advantage of. They used a screw driver vs a drill to take apart the beds which made the process significantly longer than it needed to be. After one of the movers started moving some of the items, I saw him down at the truck on his phone for a significant period of time and had to ask the team leader to get him moving (we had 3 hrs or it was going to cost me more). This clearly frustrated him (they were speaking in another language so I don't know what was being said) and he stayed in the truck the majority of the time loading the truck vs. moving items in and out so it ended up being more like 2 movers at the front end. It took them a full 3 hrs to move the minimal amount of stuff that needed to be moved and they did not have any sense of urgency and only got more frustrated when I would try and help or try and make the process go faster. Then when they got to the condo building it was more of the same. One person stayed in the truck to unload furniture while the other two went up to unload it into the condo. This system would have worked fine, but when the loader got a box loaded, he waited for the people in the condo to come back down and pick it up rather than bring it up to him. This meant he was just hanging out in the truck vs trying to finish the job. Again, it was like I only had 2 people moving vs the 3 I was paying for. It came to a head at the end of the move b/c I knew the loader had loaded the last box, but he did not come up to move it. The other 2 guys were trying to set up the beds and he was just waiting in the truck while a box of furniture just sat outside the condo and the time ticked away. I asked several times where he was and if he was going to come and help unload while they were trying to get the beds together. The team lead said he is coming he is coming. I became so frustrated, I started unloading the box, so they would just get finished and get out of my house. At this point it had taken another 3 hours to unload, which was absolutely ridiculous. The loader finally showed up but I had finished unloading. While few of my pieces were in pristine condition, they were in worse condition when they arrived 2.5 miles down the road. In my opinion, they knew they could drag this out to 6 hrs and were going to take every minute they possibly could. The man who primarily stayed in the truck was lazy and had a bad attitude (yet I as paying for him) which slowed everything down. When I finally paid, they challenged me on the 15% off of the supplies that was part of the coupon...again making me feel nickeled and dimed. In the end it was more than $400 more than I expected it to be (more than double what I estimated). The final blow was the 4% for the credit card fee. yes, it is in the agreement, but I had not planned on it being that much more as I had enough cash on hand to go an hour over but not $400 over. I am not sure who has that much cash on hand and it was just one more frustration of a company that could do much better, especially after the movers were so terrible. I will never use this company again and I recommend you look elsewhere too.

I actually had two experiences in 2 days with this vendor. While they try to be professional, there were any number of mishaps that made my move more stressful. They arrived on the late side of the 3 hour window though I was told to expect that from a friend who used them. The men seemed professional but both days they were handed a very easy move which I walked them through (in one case, the boxes they were to take were intentionally piled in one corner of one room for them) and both days they directly disobeyed my move requests. I piled up boxes so it was easy to tell what was to move and they still took a critical box out of another area of my condo that cost me close to $1000 to replace on the other side since it's now rotting in storage. They did the same the next day, although to be fair they let me enter the truck afterwards to identify any othe mistakes. They also wrecked a new piece of furniture in front of me just through carelessness; they offered a partial reimbursement, but it is irreparably damaged. I also got hit with a hidden charge. The manager called to see how the move had gone, and while he listened to my concerns, I didn't get the feeling he was very sympathetic. Bottom line:I've had much worse and more expensive movers, but this should have been a slam dunk, and it wasn't.

I use them 3 times in a year and a half. It was around $800. They are ok. They haven't broken anything yet. They move slow, but how do you get crazy on people. You want them to take their time and not break your stuff. I think the price is reasonable.

I can't speak to the quality of their moving services, but they certainly have poor customer service and lack integrity. I contacted them via phone to get an estimate, and spoke with Jeff. I mentioned that I wanted to use the Angie's List coupon I had seen online and on their website that day offering $10 for $100 of moving services, and he said that would be fine and I should be able to use it. He asked me to complete the online estimate request form, which I did that day, and in which I again mentioned that I wanted to use the coupon. He emailed me back the following day with an estimate, and since it was a good price, I emailed back saying I wanted to book their services, and again (for the 3rd time) said that I wanted to use the $10 for $100 coupon. He emailed me right back and said I would be able to use the coupon - that I just needed to purchase it online and show them a purchase receipt. Two days later, I went online to purchase the coupon, and they had taken it down. I emailed Jeff to make sure I could still use the coupon since I had mentioned it 3 times and he had assured me that I would get the discount, but he simply responded that he was sorry, but that coupon had expired. Classic bait and switch. I've dealt with many Angie's List companies that will honor their coupons if you simply mention them at the time of booking and don't require you to purchase them in advance. But more importantly, in this case, they had assured me that I would be able to use that specific coupon, but then took it offline and went back on their word. I'm sure they will respond to my review and say it it simply their policy to offer coupons for a limited time and require customers to purchase them in advance, but (1) obviously, they have the authority to change their own policy, especially when they have given their word to a customer, and (2) again, they gave me their word I could use the coupon. I took my business elsewhere, and got a better, guaranteed price, as well as an earlier move date. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

We have a pretty complicated local move involving moving some things into storage, some into a new house, some staying in old house until it sells. From the get go Alex understood what we needed and provided the best price by far of three estimates. Communication was easy, he showed up on time for the estimate and the crew members for the first part of the move were efficient, paid attention to what needed to end up where. So far we are very happy and feel that we can relax because the rest of the move is in good hands.

They arrived late. They were coming from a distance and hit traffic. It happens. They were very good at calling and updating ETA so I don't consider that marks against them. We underestimated how much we had to move. We send them an updated list a few days before and they agreed it would be good to have a second truck. We definitely did need it. The team was very nice. Very polite. They were willing to comply with my request to empty certain rooms first so my boys would have a safe out of the way place to play during the move. They were very fast. Our old apartment had a tricky and steep flight of stairs that not surprisingly slowed things down a bit. But they never stopped moving. They never fooled around. Very professional and eager to get the job done. The entire move with travel to new house took 10 hours. They made it easier than I expected for a very long day. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

They were great. They showed up on time and were very fast, careful and polite. It couldn't have gone better.

I needed to clear out my parent's house in preparation for sale. Furniture and effects had to be moved to three different locations. Alexander was very helpful in helping me to plan the moves, get the right truck, etc. He was also very flexible about scheduling, which was important to me. The crew was very professional and careful, and worked very hard. Some of the furniture was delicate and valuable, but nothing was broken or scratched. I would definitely use G&J again.

everything went very well. the movers were very professiona, courteous and worked hard. no items were broken or damaged and these three guys were very good. they removed a door from hinges to get a desk out and replaced it with ease. they finished quicker than estimated and the price was exactly as originally estimated. good experience and i would definitely hire this company again. gave them a good tip !!
