Description of Work: After the consult and estimate, I had to call them multiple times to set a date for instillation. It took at least two months to set the date. During that time, by his own admission, he went on vacation with his family. The owner was allowing an apprentice install the door. The owner was instructing him in how to drill through tile, et'al. No problem if they do the expected work. They did not. I was told to use a bath mat when I shower as water would get on the floor. I said "You are installing a shower door that leaks. That is unacceptable". I was told and I quote "This is good enough for you. Just don't take fancy showers". I have asked many people and I still can not find out what a fancy shower is. When the owner felt the work was done he asked for he balance and I refused saying "The door leaks; the job is not done". Again he said "It is good enough for you. Give me my money". In addition he demanded (and at this point in our conversation, was shouting) $25.00 for removing the existing door, which was never in the original contract. Very bad experience.

Just a note of appreciation for the wonderful frameless shower door Express Shower and Glass Design Company installed in my master bathroom as part of my master bath remodeling. From start to finish, I had a wonderful experience with this company. John Souflan was knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and efficient. He did a very good job in the new installation and we are very happy with our shower enclosure. Waking up and early mornings just got a little better with my new, luxurious shower. Thanks to Express Shower and Glass Design Company for making this experience painless!

Express Shower Doors (ESD) was the lowest bid, and John, the ESD frontman, seemed eager for the business. They arrived on time and installed the shower door. A few months after the installation, we noticed that the door never really closed properly. I called/emailed them after the installation about 6 months later and they were virtually non-responsive. Thinking that Express Shower Door wasn't going to respond, we called in another company who commented on the fact that a thinner (read cheaper) piece of glass was used when a heavier piece was called for. It saved the company money and was likely the reason why the bid was so low. When I open the shower door the fixed piece of glass which the door closes into - which is apparently too thin - vibrates. The quote by the other company to fix the door was $1000.00, which included replacing the thin piece of glass. John, however, finally got back to me via email. I offered to pay him $50.00 if he could just adust the door so that it closed properly, not mentioning the vibration. He came, made some adjustments, and now 6 months later the top pieces of glass between the door and fixed piece of glass rub together, making the door difficult to open and close. It also makes an awful sound. Yes, they may be the cheapest bid but they will likely also be the lowest quality and non-responsive after taking your money.

The frameless shower door for the master shower is functional. The frameless door for the guest bathroom tub is another story altogether. The door for the guest bathroom tub leaked from the beginning. Called John several times. He only returned every 3rd or 4th call. He finally came out after 2 months and installed a threshold under the door and it leaked worse than before. He said it was because the tub was installed improperly. I said he should have told us this could be a potential problem BEFORE he agreed to take our money and install a frameless door. After multiple phone calls (some calls he returned but many he did not), I asked him to take the doors out and give us our money back. He said he would only give back $400 and we were just stuck with a leaking door. I took the $400 and called another company to try and fix what John said he could not. I called Enclosures Unlimited, Inc., they came out and assessed the problem, and told us it was the wrong size threshold and that it was improperly installed. They replaced the threshold with the correct threshold and properly installed it. The door has not leaked since Enclosures Unlimited did the repairs. They did an excellent job and the cost was very reasonable. I would hire Enclosures Unlimited again; I would NEVER hire or recommend Express Shower Doors and Glass. I guess this is one of those instances where you get what you pay for.

This is one of the most non-responsive companies I have ever dealt with. I strongly recommend avoiding them. They sold me a product using defective materials and have subsequently refused to stand behind or otherwise replace said product. I had a tempered glass partition installed in a guest bathroom. While the actual installation was fine, it turned out that the glass was improperly tempered and completely mishandled after tempering. Bottom line, whenever the glass is fogged, hand prints become visible -- I have been told by two other glass companies that this is a clear indication that the glass was improperly handled while still hot. I was told by the owner of Express Shower Doors that he obtained the glass from one of his suppliers. After several months and multiple phone calls and emails, Express has done absolutely nothing but stall on obtaining and re-installing a replacement. I am now at the point that I do not want a replacement -- I want my money back. In my opinion, this company could care less about making good on this matter. In fact, they probably think I will simply tire of their obfuscation and move on. Not a chance -- more to follow.

I called around for estimates and this was one of the few that was able to give me a good quote over the phone within minutes. Most other companies took a lot more time to call me back. Express Glass proved to be the least expensive. He came out to the house on time to meausre everything. Again he quoted me the same price. He told me it would be 7 to 10 days and it was actually delievered on the 9th day. These guys did a great job. From the first visit for measurements to the installation they were very professional and attentive . They kept the area very clean and even removed thier shoes without me asking. Outstanding work, I would hire them again.

Very responsive and on time, for both the measuring/estimate, and the actual work. The work was done when they said it would be, and accomplished with great attention to detail. I bought a ready-made framed shower door for the hall bathroom, but I REALLY wish I had spent the money on another frameless door. The framed door looks very nice, but the frameless door is so much more elegant. The ready-made door cost about $350, so there was a bit of money saved, for sure...however, it would have been worth the extra $550 or so, because it is such an elegant look. Well, if something bad should happen to the ready-made door, I know what I'll do...
Description of Work: Frameless shower door was installed in our master bathroom. It is such a small bathroom, I was afraid it would look even smaller with a door instead of a curtain, but, wow, it actually looks bigger now!! I had them install a brushed nickel towel bar to match the other bathroom fixtures, and it looks beautiful.

I cannot say too many good things about Express Shower Doors. I called, gave John, the owner, the size of the shower door opening and he gave me an estimate of the cost. I arranged for John to come to the house in Springfield, VA the next day to measure and firm up the deal.John came to the house, measure the shower opening, quoted me a final price, showed me a sample of the glass, and explained that the glass would fit the opening (it would not be square, and would be cut to correctly fit the opening---something I could not have done if I had bought a ready-made door). John also explained how the frameless door would be fixed to the wall, how it would close, and he also explained that the glass would be coated so the water would more easily bead off and be easier to clean. At the end of our home meeting, John said it would take 7-10 business days to cut and prepare the glass door. Within the above time frame, John called and said he was ready to install the shower door. John and a helper came the next day right on time to install the door. They were meticulous and exceptionally neat as they worked, spreading out a drop cloth to catch any deprris and cleaning up drill-hole dust with cleasner and paper towels. The installation took about one hour. The installed door is solid as rock, closes easily on its own (due to strong, clever hinges), and the thick clear glass looks great. (The atttached photo does not do it justice. Since the shower was not square and the shower tile grout line was not precisely plumb, John even positioned the door so that all seem best aligned. I paid the remainder of the amount I owed and was more than pleased with the quality of the door, how well it was installed, and the price. Bottom line: I bought a great, custom shower door and had it expertly installed for a very reasonable price. The best recommendation I can make is I would do it again.
Description of Work: The job was to install a glass shower door in a shower stall, where previously there was only a shower curtain. When I measured the shower stall and saw the opening was not square (the bottom of the opening was not the same size as the top of the opening), I realized do-it-myself could prove tricky and I checked the big box home repair stores for options. At Home Deopt the cost of a custom shower door seemed high, so I checked our Express Glass and Mirror Design( www.showerdoorsandglass.com).
