+ 4 moreEmco's motto is ''We do it Right''. It should be ''We do it right, but only if you stand over us every minute.'' Emco management were rarely on site to supervise their subcontractors. The subcontractors did not always have experience in the required tasks. My husband works from home, and has experience managing commercial remodeling projects in the UK. This is what saved us. My husband ended up as the defacto daily project manager, catching serious errors early on(beams in the wrong place, etc.) and identifying possible solutions. During the course of the project, about $5,000 worth of work was omitted from the contract by mutual consent. This was due to the contractor's inability to either perform elements of work, or to obtain necessary materials; namely plumbing, floor leveling & carpeting, and purchase of attic stairs. We wouldn't use Emco again, or recommend them.
Description of Work: We hired Emco for a general remodeling project on our home. The project components included: an upper story extension (guest bedroom and new laundry/utility room), new HVAC system, new roof, gutters, and siding on entire house, and porch profile alterations. Prospective bidders on the project were provided in advance with fully detailed structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings and specification. AIA Contract for Small Projects (form 205) was used for contract terms. We received 4 bids. Emco was the second lowest bidder at $75,000. Work began in mid-February 2006 and was completed in mid-July 2006.

+ -1 moreEMCO WAS A VERY GOOD BUILDER. THEY DID THE WORK QUICKLY AND IN A QUALITY MANNER. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT WAS DONE ON MY HOME AND THEY WERE VERY EAGER TO PLEASE US.
