I have a house with circa 1890's brick and mortar that once had seashells in it. David Ricard gave me a fair estimate to fill in mortar where a house brick was party broken by a telecom company and where some mortar fell out from an area a larger masonry company had repointed a few years before. David and his brother showed up on time, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, and cleaned up after. He showed that he understands different kinds of brick and the mortar required. I wish I had known about David before I hired that other company a few years before because the larger company didn't do a particularly good repointing job. I have upcoming mortar work needed on my front walkway and will be calling David for that repair. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others.

David and his team were responsive, efficient, polite and affordable. After getting several quotes, David's was by far the most fair in my opinion. He was responsive to my many inquires and let me have plenty of time to decide to use his services. I actually ended up using him for brick repointing twice this summer (June and August 2020) because I was so pleased with the work done. I plan to use him for future masonry projects should the need arise. I was especially pleased with how much they took the time to clean up after such messy work and left my yard as they found it. Even after I noticed that a gutter had not be re-secured properly the first time they were here in June, he came back immediately after I texted him to make sure it was made right. I had said they could come back another time to do it but he came right back that same day. To me, that's great customer service. In a time when contractors don't even respond for quotes and don't give customers the time of day, I appreciate that David and his guys made me feel like my project was important.

Excellent. David and his crew worked diligently for several days to repoint all the steps and replacing several corner bricks that were broken. Also, he repaired a crack in a raised brink planter and re-laid a patio area that had been distorted by 25 years of frost heaves. All work was done professionally and thoroughly and the areas cleaned up perfectly on departure. An added benefit was that the crew were very pleasant to deal with; arrived promptly and were clearly very skilled.

David came to my house to inspect and give me an estimate of my brick home that needed repointing. He gave me an estimate on the spot which was far. He did not pressure me. Gave me time to do my own research. His price was the best out of other companies. He had a small crew that needed the work at the time and I was extremely happy to hire them. They covered my air conditioning units to prevent dusts. My project cost was $3000 and they performed in 2 days. I would hire them again. David was honest with me on work he did not think I needed to be done which saved me money. The repointing looks great and this brick house will out live me.

David came to access the brick work on my house for possible repairs

Background: Last May, DC WASA replaced an 80 foot segment of lead water pipe in my front yard. In the process, they knocked a 1' x 2' hole through structural brick in my basement in order to tie the new copper pipe into my existing network. Unfortunately, when they were finished they did not fill the hole in with brick. Instead, they piled dirt into the hole and put a skim coat of concrete on the top. As you might expect, several months later I developed a serious water leak into my basement. I hired David Ricard and his brother to repair the issue. They dug out the concrete and dirt, placed a PVC sleeve around the copper water pipe, and then sealed up the hole properly using brick and mortar. As a homeowner in DC, I have found that it is very difficult to find experts who are willing to work on your house at a fair price. David did just that. He is a third generation mason and is very knowledgeable. His price came in quite literally thousands of dollars less than the closest bid. I would be very happy to hire him again in the future. Highly recommend.

They provided by far the best value for the money. to repoint a large external portion of our stone chimney and replace the chimney crown. I would strongly recommend David to anyone needing masonry work. He really knows his stuff, was easy to work with, and extremely affordable. We had water damage in our historic brick home and had to tear out wet plaster all over the house. When we saw the condition of the brick, it was clear we needed a bunch of interior repointing and hadn’t planned on it, so didn’t have anyone lined up. David arrived the next morning, have an estimate on the spot, and was confidence inspiring in his understanding of our 150- year old brick home. He made sure to use historically accurate materials. Was flexible on scheduling and when the time came, arrived on time, worked quickly, and charged a very reasonable price. So glad we didn’t have to worry about that price of it! Our home was built in 1937 and we take great care in trying to preserve it rather than starting over. At some point the original owners installed a beautiful stone pathway to match the home and we wanted to make sure it stayed in good working order for years to come. The pathway had become dangerous to walk on and the front stoop steps were starting to come loose from the foundation. After taking a few trips down the pathway, we decided it was time to take care of it. I researched David Ricard Masonry on Angie's List in order to find the right pro to get the job done. He was quick to respond and we agreed on the price the day after his free estimate. Work began the first week of December and was completed in 3 days. He provided proof of licensing and written estimate at my request. David and his team were professional, delivered on each thing we agreed upon, and cleaned up afterwards. I requested that he keep mortar as true to the original installation as possible and he did. The neighbors are already asking for his contact information. David and his team were excellent. He is extremely professional and was patient as we delayed the project to work through obtaining condo board approval to do the work. I was impressed with their attention to detail and craftsmanship, but also to David's ability to make suggestions to keep costs of the project reasonable. They did a great job replacing my worn and broken front concrete walkway. The concrete had 17 years of wear on it and was chipped and cracked. They replaced the walkway and added flagstone to the walkway, stairs, and stoop. It makes the front of the house look incredibly better. David did a great job, was on time, and very reasonable. I'd be happy to use their services again.

David's team did a wonderful job repairing the front of my stone retaining wall after it was hit by a car. He was very professional and responsive with his communication and the job was completed quickly. His pricing was very fair. The new retaining wall looks great! I will use him again if I need masonry work.

David Ricard is the best! And honest! He and his crew (brother Jonathan and long-time associate Jose) did excellent work for me. My brick house in Tenleytown (built 1946) has never been repointed, so, over the years, water had broken down much of the mortar in the brick window sills. David and his crew repointed all of the brick window sills (except for two basement windows that didn't need repointing). They also patched numerous small gaps in the mortar of the brick walls. (They used ladders to work on the 2nd floor and attic levels.) They also repaired a sloppy patch job done years earlier, in which a workman had smeared a huge excess of mortar on the surface of four bricks around the vent flap of a Central Vacuum exhaust pipe. What was once an eyesore for my neighbors now looks pristine. I contacted David because he had so many "A" reviews. I contacted him on a Saturday thru his website. He responded in less than an hour. Did the estimate on Monday and did the work on Wednesday. David is honest, highly skilled, and is a third-generation brick mason. I highly recommend him and his crew.

When Mr. Ricard came out, he arrived promptly and did a thorough inspection of the property. Following his inspection, he determined that the problem wasn’t my masonry but likely my roof. I truly appreciated his honesty and will definitely use him the next time I need brick work!
