The salesman showed up promptly and provided a thorough, no-pressure presentation. An installation date was made within a couple of days. No was home in the day of installation, but I returned home to a new roof and no there was no debris anywhere. I am very satisfied with Consumer's Construction service and the product, and would highly recommend this company.

The crew arrived before 7 am and worked continuously until lunch. Took a short lunch break and then worked through until the job was done around 6:45 pm. I was home and observed them throughout the day. They were polite and very careful with our flower beds and gardens. They worked very hard and did a very professional job. They cleaned up everything when they left and other than the new roof there was no indication they had been there. I would definitely use Consumer Construction again and I recommend them highly to anyone needing a roof replaced.
Description of Work: I had new roof put on my two story house and car port. The old roof including the plywood was removed and replaced with new plywood and shingles. Gutters guards were reinstalled. The chimney and vents were all properly sealed.

The windstorm at the end of February ripped a large section of aluminum siding off our townhouse and damaged the roof. After looking at reviews on Angie?s List I contacted several contractors for estimates. Of the five companies I contacted only three companies ultimately provided estimates to me. Mark from Consumer Construction came over within 3 days to provide an estimate. He arrived on time, and provided me with a written estimate, literature detailing the products he was proposing to use, and samples of the roofing materials. Consumer Construction's bid was competitive however my primary concern was hiring a competent contractor to perform the work. Consumer Construction did not disappoint. The siding and roofing was performed on separate days by two different crews. Both crews arrived on-time, were courteous, and competent. I have a lot of experience in home improvement and observed both crews in action. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was noticed and appreciated. I would use Consumer Construction again.
Description of Work: Replaced original siding and roofing on our townhouse. Removed the existing aluminium siding, installed tyvek, rigid foam board, and new Alside vinyl siding. Capped the brick mould on all windows with aluminium trim coil Removed old roofing shingles, installed new underlayment, ice and water shield, and 30 yr Landmark shingles.

Mark was very prompt and professional in getting us a very detailed estimate. He came in the evening to fit our schedule. We were able to choose what work we wanted done based on his estimate (each individual portion of work was broken out). He came back out a second time to answer more questions. The start of the scheduled work was delayed slightly due to weather. After the weather delay, they started and finished on time. Did a very good job and cleaned up after themselves (debris in the yard). We had a question on one piece of the work and they came right back out to address our question (corrected the issue). We would definitely use them again.

After several bad winters and a series of rain storms, we had water leaking into our living room from the ceiling. I called about 5 different contractors -- all of whom were booked, didn't answer their phones, or were unwilling to handle this kind of issue -- with the exception of Consumer Construction. I spoke to Patrick on the phone, who asked me questions about the problem and ran through the details and pricing of several different scenarios so I would know what to expect. The repairman arrived a few days later as scheduled, and per my request, was able to identify and explain the problem to me before making the repairs. He removed the existing sealant and resealed the bay window, and repaired the siding on the adjoining townhouse, which had been funneling water into our home. The repair took about 1 hour to complete, and cost me their standard repair fee of $315 (including the Angie's List discount). I couldn't be happier with the professionalism and the level of service provided by Consumer Construction. I am definitely keeping their number!

I called because I had noticed a leak above one of my windows. They came out in the rain 2 days after I contacted them. Patched my roof a day before a sever thunderstorm hit. We were looking for an estimate on a new front door installation. The representative at the office who we spoke to first was extremely helpful and friendly. We were able to secure an appointment for an estimate within 1 week. On the day of the estimate, the serviceman called 2 hours before the estimate time to reschedule. I told him we would call back the following day to reschedule after confirming availability with my spouse. He suggested I call his cell phone directly instead of calling the main office. I called his phone the next day and left a voice mail. He never returned our call, and we have never heard back from anyone in the office.

We are very sorry that your appointment and subsequent rescheduling were not handled appropriately. The representative you spoke with had just returned from an extended vacation, and was busy catching up on his work. That is no excuse however; you should have received a call back to reschedule your appointment. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have called you, and can assure you that every inquiry is treated with the utmost importance.

They have to punch through to do it. I chose to go with them based on the ratings on Angie’s List. There are actually a number of projects so it’s about $8000. They were responsive. Their quote was competitive. They were prompt in scheduling the work. They were punctual. I’ve only interacted with one individual and he was professional. They’ve started the work and it should be finished this weekend.

Their quote was competitive. They were prompt in scheduling the work. They were punctual. I’ve only interacted with one individual and he was professional. They’ve started the work and it should be finished this weekend. The quality is okay because they did not pay very good attention to detail. There are some obvious things that one would have expected. The hose didn’t hold as they used a damaged one to replace. On the roof replacement, I had questions and they had agreed that they were going to eliminate certain things. The work has to be reviewed when they come out. The quality is the one that is normally expected from a classic contractor. They should have made sure and I feel that these problems shouldn’t have occurred in the first place.

Approximately a week after they repaired my roof there were more strong winds and I noticed a large shingle in my back yard. I called and they said they would send someone out to make any necessary repairs at no additional cost to me. The crew came out the next day and found that they had left some extra shingles they hadn't used on the roof . One of these shingles had blown off. Since it was raiing during their initial visit they had missed them. That made perfect sense since the shingle I found in my yard was a complete shingle, not a portion of one. I've had no issues with leaks since they've repaired my roof and I was extremely happy with their willingness to make the additional repairs if any were needed free of charge.
Description of Work: I called to have some shingles replaced since I had seen some shingles in my yard after some strong winds we had in the area and was noticing some water damage around one of my window frames. They sent someone out within a day of my call and they repaired my roof even though it was lightly raining. They were very professional and I was pleased with both the price and the work that was done. They actually gave me a $10 discount for finding them on Angie's list.

This was a positive experience that began with Mark Mohay who came to my home to provide information about Provia Doors, measure the entry area and take note that the tile border needed to be removed and replaced. Internet research is the reason I selected Provia brand doors and Angies list recommendations prompted me to call Consumer Construction. Mark Mohay gives an excellent presentation about the Provia doors because it is an expensive door he does not pressure you at all. The company has payment options but I have my own and Mark Mohay accepted it which was to do a deposit and schedule the work two months later to make the final payment. The day of installation the workmen (2) and Mark Mohay arrived on time - even though it was overcast and rained later that day. Mark Mohay reviewed with me and the workmen the specifications that I had - I provided new locksets and handle per HOA brass external. The workmen set up the area with cardboard to protect the carpet and cut to size the casement etc in the garage (it rained). They are courteous and do their best to keep the construction noise at a minimum. One of the workmen had to leave but an area supervisor replaced him. The workmen answered my questions about the installation and mentioned the reason so much air came through the previous door was when the townhome was built there was no insulation. They remove all construction debris and vacuum too - none of it goes in your garbage cans. Mark Mohay came on Saturday to reinstall the two tile pieces. He took the time to trim one of the tiles because the new casing took more space. He also observed some of the caulking dried with gaps and replaced that too. The installation went well - the only thing is that if you have a door sensor be prepared to call the alarm company or electrician to have that reactivated.
Description of Work: Provia 20 guage steel entry door with retractable blind in double glazed low-e argon window installed with new trim and casement. The company offers an optional second deadbolt - worth it. Removal and replaced two floor tile that bordered the entry.

The cost of the repair/construction was within my expectations and less expensive than other companies that provided estimates. Consumer construction met all of my expectations in all three jobs. None of these were easy to accomplish but they did within the time frame I was quoted and to the quoted price. Outstanding quality of repair and materials used. I know that our home will go up in value because of these repairs/replacements. I also plan to use them to replace the siding on the house in a few years. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I have used Consumer Construction three times now. First was to replace our big picture window. They came in and did the job in about 4 hours. $5K The second job consisted of replacing all of our windows and three doors (two sliding glass doors to the back yard) and our front door which includes two side panels. The job took two days to complete. $26K The third job was replacing our shingle roof and installing ridge vents in the roof. One day to complete. $9K.

Went very well. Scheduled appt over phone on Tuesday for Friday service. Crew showed up Friday. Confirmed that what they had on their work sheet matched my requests. Performed the work. Did not leave a mess. Worked quickly, safely, and cleanly. When they were finished, they gave me the results of the inspection and explained what replacements/caulking they had done. They gave a me a discount for Angies List. I would call them again. They did a great job!
Description of Work: Replaced multiple missing/damaged shingles. Replaced 2 vent pipe collars. Caulked apron. Caulked attic fan seams. Fixed ridge vent. Inspected roof. On Friday evening (Feb 25th) the wind storm blew off one part of the ridge vent on the roof. Sunday I sent an email to Consumer Construction telling them of the issue and asking for a call to discuss an appt for them to come out and fix it. 7:20am on Monday morning (while I was still sleeping!) they called me and left a message to contact them about my email. I called at about 8:45am and they said they could have someone over on Tuesday. I mentioned the possible rain and wind we were predicted to have that afternoon and wondered if that would be an issue - so Patrick said they would try to get someone over there today but would have to call me in a few hours and see if they could do it. Pleasantly surprised, I saw the truck pull up about 9:30am. The workmen were very nice and quickly got to work. By 10am it was all fixed and they were headed out. As I watched the storm come in and the pouring rain come down - I was more than relieved that I had called a company that was willing to go that extra yard to help me.

I was in the process of selling my home and needed someone asap to add siding to the front elevation. I got competitive estimates from other companies, but none were as responsive as Consumers Construction. Mark, the salesperson was wonderful. Every time I called I was greeted with exuberance and professionalism. The company was more interested in getting the job done right and to my satisfaction than they were in collecting payment. They came as promised, did the work in one day (and did extra work without charging me!). I would recommend them to anyone. And, my house elevation was updated and sold within weeks!

Extremely poor workmanship on the job - bordering on negligence. Unfortunately, i am in the process of going through legal proceedings to have them fix their work. When I contacted them about this whole situation, they refused to come back and fix them unless I paid them all over again. Ridiculous. The owner might sound nice on the phone, but the company doesn't give a darn about any problems with which you are stuck the minute they leave your roof.
Description of Work: The roofed the house for the prior owner, but did a very shoddy job. I had 4 professionals come look at it, including a structural engineer, and all were aghast at the work this company had done. I called them to attempt to have them come and fix what they had done wrong: get the roof re-shingled and fix (tried to) step-flashing, seal chimneys, and fix the pipe-collars which they did not install properly..

Response from Consumer Construction Inc
I'd like to start off by saying that Consumer Construction, Inc. is a small business that prides itself on the highest quality workmanship. Having operated in Prince William County for over 25 years, we are committed to doing the job right. Not only because it is the right thing to do, but because our customers are our friends. This is why we stand by our work by offering a 10 year workmanship warranty on new roofs installed by our company. We rely on our past customers to tell their neighbors, family, coworkers, and friends about our excellent service and quality workmanship. In fact, repeat business and past customer referrals account for the majority of our work. We have never been hired by this member. We were the subcontractor for the home build 7 years ago, under different ownership. Based on age of the home and the pictures he provided, the issues are likely the cause of trade work completed by a different company after our roof installation. We attempted to assist this member, despite his lack of a warrantee or previous business history with our company. We reviewed the documentation and pictures he provided, explained the situation, and gave this member information to help him contact the liable company. We explained that liability rests with the home builder and recommended he contact them with his concerns. We also provided recommendations to different roofing companies to perform any necessary cosmetic repairs to the shingles, as the roof is not leaking in any form, nor is it missing any shingles. This situation highlights the utmost importance of having a thorough home inspection performed prior to taking ownership of a property. This member elected not pay for a full inspection and unfortunately missed the opportunity to negotiate extended warranties or have the seller pay for cosmetic shingle repairs prior to his purchase of the home. We are very sorry for his predicament, and recommend to all reading this that you insist on having an inspector get on the roof, and if they are unable to get on the roof, hire an inspector or roofing contractor who is skilled enough to physically inspect the roof. You can read the rest of our reviews, which reflect the true nature of our customer service, and our commitment to quality workmanship. We value the relationships we have built with our customers over the past 25 years, and look forward to many more years of loyal service to the homeowners of Virginia. Respectfully, Robert E. Hagen, Jr. Vice President

They showed up on the date promised and on time. The job took 2 full days. I think how a company presents itself says a lot about pride in workmanship, so I'm happy to say they were professional in apprearance and their trucks were clean and organized. Each worker appeared to know what he was to do since small groups would tackle different aspects of the work. For example, some started stripping the old shingles from the roof, others would bring the shingles from the ground to where others began installing the shingles. At the same time any rotten wood was pulled from the rafters and thrown down to the ground. At this point I was impressed when one of the workers apologized for making such a mess of the yard. Wow! A mess is expected, but to have someone be sensitive to the owner's property, was unexpected and really appreciated. Needless to say, the old material was quickly cleaned up, to include someone going around the base of the house with a magnetized rod picking up nails hidden in the lawn and bushes. One thing I'd like to add. There was a small overhang which I missed adding to the contract. They replaced the shingles without asking. Also, because of some confusion, they started to strip away shingles from another small roof that wasn't part of the bigger job. I was able to catch the worker, but not in time so a few shingles and a ridge vent were pulled off. At no charge to me and no discussion from me, they replaced the shingles and ridge vent - wasn't even an issue. As an added touch, they even cleaned my skylights. Classy outfit! The new roof looks great. I'm very happy with the work done. As you can expect, Consumer Construction did an excellent job. I wouldn't hesitate having them do work for me again.

It is a pleasure to see a company that still believes in the good ol' customer service and professionalism. From the start to the finish they were professional and courteous throughout. They are not the cheapest company out there, but then again you get what you pay for. They were nearly flawless in all aspects. One minor inconvenience was that our deadbolt did not come with any keys, to which they are in the process of getting that fixed. Top notch work!! Positively outstanding. When they showed up for the initial estimate, they fixed the interior kitchen door by straighening it, shimming it, and putting it back correctly in the door frame. He spent about 2 hours doing this, even before we sat down to discuss door styles and prices. They gave us the best quality doors (Provia) at a much better price than our other two estimates. They showed up as scheduled for the installation, and everything went extremely well. We have already received several compliments from our neighbors because the doors look so good. In addition, two days prior to installation, the doorknob to our front door broke in half and fell off. They also fixed that on installation day with a newer, better, stronger doorknob--it's now rock solid. They also had to come back one more time in order to install the screen portion of the door because they did not have that part on installation day (which is fine--I wanted the glass portion now for the cooler temperatures). Throughout the process they called several times to check on us and gave us updates on the parts and the final install. Everything about these guys is 100% top-notch. I enthusiastically give them my highest recommendation.

Consumer Construction thankfully placed a temporary cover on my roof when they came to do the estimate while it was still raining. There was no hesitation and even discovered an additional small unknown leak. They were able to turn around service quickly and had the roof repaired within 48 hours of the initial call. They also did some complementary preventive maintenance while they were on the roof.
Description of Work: The job was to repair the leak on the roof cause by heavy rains. They replaced the damaged plywood and the shingles in the affected area.
