Consumer Construction was great. Mark, the Sales Manager, came out to the house gave a detailed estimate with great information. We were then contacted when the roof was going to be done. The date was changed once due to the weather, but they did a great job letting us know and rescheduled immediately. The installers did an excellent job. The roof and new skylight look amazing and they cleaned up so well it looked like the were never there.

Beautifully. They did just what they said they would and provided expert advice on what truly needed to be done instead of what another roofer said had to be done. Their conservatism coincided with the views of our insurance adjuster who didn't believe our roof to be the disaster they said it was.

This was a great experience. We've used Consumer Construction before for minor roof repairs, but this was largest job that we had worked with them on. The sales and proposal process with Mark was very straightforward and transparent. They replaced two doors and made improvements to two others. Patrick was the lead crew member and is master carpenter. He and his crew were methodical and meticulous in their installation. The two new ProVia doors are a huge step up in quality from our old doors and provide more security. Patrick replaced the rotting frame for a third set of french doors, rehanging our previously crooked doors straight. They also replaced the sweep on the front door. The end result of the job has hugely improved the insulation in our home.

Bottom Line Up Front: I could not be more pleased with the results of the work performed by Consumer Construction, Inc. (CCI). It is EXCEPTIONAL in every way. The sales rep (Mark) and the work crew, (Patrick and Kendall) were hard working and professional in every way. They were polite, they worked hard, they answered my many questions, and they were highly trustworthy to do the best job they could perform. If I had to leave a voice mail or email, it was returned promptly. We purchased our home in 1994 and noticed that a previous-homeowner installed concrete porch extension had settled a bit. Over the last 22 years, it has continued to settle to the point that the overhanging porch had twisted. We had the concrete porch demolished and replaced using helical piers (another company) and hired CCI to reset the porch. We previously hired them to do other repairs and was quite pleased with them. After a series of scheduling changes due to weather, CCI started work. The pre-painted all materials because of the colder temperatures and came ready to work! They jacked up the porch to level by using screw jacks, and replaced the columns with colonial PVC columns that were steel lined. Once the porch roof was reset, they removed the porch ceiling and tied the rafters back to the home with A34 joist hangers. They then added needed insulation. They used stiff foam board insulation, custom cutting each panel to fit between each set of rafters, and also fit small pieces underneath and adjacent to the 2 X 6 rafters. Once this was done, they allowed me time to install a crawl space catwalk and then replaced the porch ceiling with 1/4" plywood that was also PVC lined. Once the ceiling was placed, they installed a new porch rail system. I had some questions for them, and they made some additional recommendations to the work, such as footers for the columns. This recommendation were the details that the porch needed to really look first rate. They came back the next day (with warmer temperatures) to touch up the painted area, and ended up painting the entire project again, to ensure uniform coverage. They also replaced the trim boards around our garage door bays with PVC, making them look brand new. Even the extra details of matching the caulking to the aluminum siding was a nice and professional touch. We are pleased in every way, with the efforts of Consumer Construction Inc. I would recommend them for work in the Northern Virginia area and WILL certainly hire them again to do work that is outside my skill level. We made a great choice!

Gwen Vannoy of Consumer Construction got back to me within 24 hours. I called her back and explained the situation. She explained to me their "Standard Roof Repair" package, what it cost and what it included. Having compared prices, it was an excellent deal but I wasn't convinced it would be sufficient. She called me two days later with an opening in their schedule and I took it. The team arrived about 10 minutes before they were scheduled and waited until promptly at 8 am to ring the doorbell. I showed them where the leak was apparent in my bedroom and where it was apparent on the outside soffit. The more senior of the two gentlemen put the ladder up on the roof, immediately found three holes in the roof where I expected (hoped) they would be. He took some pictures and then came off the ladder to show me. He thought he could repair it easily and went up the ladder again. He pulled off a couple of shingles and the underlying roofing paper to show me the holes. He also took pictures of the roof decking. The decking was stained but otherwise solid. He installed a piece of ice dam over where the leak had been and then installed new shingles. While up on the roof he also noticed what he thought were some small holes on another section of the roof so he moved the ladder over and sealed them with roofing caulk/sealant. Very professional, very polite and great customer service. Highly recommend them.

Greg came out and provided the quote, My wife and I really appreciate his patience and non agressive sales tactics when explaining what they would do and the product they would provide. In the end I went with another company however their price is pretty competitive and I highly recommend anyone looking for a roof replacement to contact Consumer Construction Inc.

Without even looking at my roof they said it would be $350 to come to my house and look and caulk the spouts.

I learned that there is a $350 flat fee for repairs (except if extensive tiles needed replacing). The workers arrived on time, and checked everything, replacing 2 pipe covers, and sealing the flashing. They showed me the disintegrating ones they replaced. I was very pleased with the service and would use them again.

It was very difficult securing quality vendors right around the new year. Consumer Construction was able to come out very quickly. We set up the appointment on the phone and Greg Walker from the company came over (on time) to do the estimate. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. They sent me the estimate in a timely fashion and were able to get out to my house and perform the work within just a few days after the estimate was given. They came on time and delivered at the price quoted. They were professional all the way through and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. They followed up to see how the work had gone as well. I highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again!

I contacted this company for an estimate on roof repairs and for a second opinion on a proposed scope of work. I sent photos of the roof because when I previously contacted them for a repair estimate on a separate matter, they declined to come out to the house to provide an estimate and asked for photos instead. Based on that interaction I got the impression that the job was not big enough to warrant a trip out to my property if I didn't agree to give them the job over the phone. Though the interaction left a negative impression I decided to recontact them again for a repair just because my first impression of the company was very positive a few years ago when they did a roof repair for me. However, after today's interaction with the company, the customer service isn't what it used to be a few years ago. The individual was unduly rude in declining to provide an estimate and based on what he said, I feel the company isn't inclined to provide estimate and answer your questions unless there is a guarantee of a job or the job is large in scope. I understand the business aspect of the decision but they need to also consider that customers, especially people who use paid services like Angie's List are typically informed consumers who will research and obtain more than one estimate/opinion for a job. I was basically told that because they previously provided an estimate and it resulted in no work for them, that I should go elsewhere.

Entire team was very punctual and professional. Greg was extremely attentive throughout the entire process of repairing a custom built pergola and deck railing. Patrick, who actually did the work was nothing short of genius while handling custom vinyl replacement materials. The job was very well done and we are indeed satisfied with the final product.

Made contact and had Mark at the house the next day. He examined what my problem was with rainwater management and provided a solution that was the least expensive of my options. Had the work scheduled the next day and the install happened quickly and was done professionally. Very pleased with all aspects of the process and would certainly use them again.

Mark showed up on time and well prepared, he described how the job was going to be performed, the cost breakdown of the project, the type of materials they use, etc... Mark is a professional! He is well mannered, has a great ability to catch your attention, and make the client understand what they're getting. I was very pleased with his presentation and the amount of material he provided me in an organized folder. I had multiple companies come out to give me a quote and out of all of them I chose Consumer Construction. His price was very reasonable! Fast forward 2 weeks and the job began. The workers showed up on time, they answered any of my questions. They worked very diligently and the job was completed in one day. They cleaned up after themselves and by the time I got home from work my yard was spotless and the work looked great. I am extremely happy with this company. I will definitely use them again for gutters and possibly new soffits. If you are looking for a new roof at least get a quote from these guys and ask for Mark Mohay and you won't regret it. He's very laid back, easy going, he's not pushy, he doesn't follow up 5x a day to ask if you've made your decision, easily to communicate with over the phone and via email. Great job gents!

This company was wonderful. The consultation with Mark was very detailed (the folder and information he brought was very helpful), he did not rush through anything (let me ask all my questions, even some over), only person to take time to look in my attic to see what he was dealing with from the inside of my roof (had 3 other estimates no one else did this). He made sure I understood every part of the roofing process and why I needed the items I needed. There was no pressure at all to use his company, he actually gives you an sheet to compare his company with others. The workman were very polite and respectful. Came in worked, kept area clean and cleaned any mess that was made in both front and backyard. This was a very easy process, the work is A+ and the people were great to work with. Outstanding! After I contacted Consumer Construction, Greg Walker stopped by my Log Cabin to discuss my project. He helped me select the best value Roof, and arranged for a repair to some rotted wood on my Log Cabin (really two jobs). They uncovered a third problem during the course of replacing the chimney (for which I was grateful). Greg acted as the General Manager for what turned out to be three pieces of work: 1. Replace rotted wood. 2. New roof. 3. Repair leaking chimney. Having Greg manage the entire process made things a lot of things easier. I had one number to call, and one person making sure that the folks doing the work had everything they needed. If you call Consumer Construction, I would ask for Greg Walker by name to oversee your project! Patrick Quigley did the rotted wood repair. Patrick struck me as an old school craftsman interested in quality work. He spent the day meticulously identifying the problem, getting the materials he needed to replace quite a few pieces of wood, and then doing the actual work. Miguel led the roof repair. His team was very professional, and did the work to what I consider the highest standards of quality. They added features that clearly were not part of the roof they replaced. While Miguel was on my roof, he identified a serious problem with one of my log chimneys. The logs on one side had rotted. That was the cause of a mysterious league which had occurred during the most serious of storms. Greg Walker arranged for the chimney repair at a reasonable price. This included finding a vendor and matching the log siding, which is rather unique. Patrick Quigley returned (at my by name request). He spent the day inspecting and repairing my log chimney. Patrick inspected both chimneys, and found they both needed work. Again, he patiently removed, replaced, and sealed both chimneys completely. He is a true craftsman. Greg Walker checked in several times during the process to make sure everything was going as planned, and that I was happy. He also brought in people to advise on issues uncovered during the process. Let me point out that all my reviews tend to be positive. That's because I start with Angie's List, do my homework, and then select a Contractor. That's what I did when I engaged Consumer Construction, Inc. As usual, I am very satisfied with the results. I always tell contractors that I found them on Angie's List, and that I always review the work of businesses I find on Angie's list.

For the most part, it went well. I found though that they nailed in the rain gutter guards that go under the shingles... and I've had nothing but trouble with them ever since. I constantly have to go up to the roof and break one of them to put a new one in. Also, because they nailed them in.. they don't abut to one another properly and so I get debris in the gutter and have to clean the gutters as if I didn't have leaf guards on them. The chimney flashing didn't solve the leak into the chimney as they said it would. Of course, they didn't guarantee it would but they also didn't want to tackle the chimney work. They didn't know how to handle the stone work on the chimney near the flashing either, so they caulked the flashing to the chimney promising the caulk was a commercial grade that would stand the test of time; it hasn't and the caulk failed at the flashing to stone surface in less than 2 years time. Anyhow, now I'm paying another $15K to have the chimney removed and the roof built out where the chimney was. So I'm sure my warranty for 30 years is now going to be voided.

Mark was our sales person and project manager and was with us the whole way. I can't say enough about how great he was. Very professional and was on top of everything. No project this big goes without a hitch but I can say that Mark definitely went the extra mile to make everything right. So, customer service is definitely a "5". Overall the crew did a really good job. I waited this long before writing a review for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted the roof/gutters, etc, to go through a winter and some heavy rains to make sure they would hold up. I haven't seen any problems so give them high marks in quality as well. The other reason I waited is that while they did an excellent job there was one issue that really got under my skin. While replacing a sheet of plywood on the roof, rather than lower it off the roof, the just shoved it off. Well, the wind caught this large piece of plywood and pushed it back into the house and it badly dented some of the (18 yr old) aluminum siding. While Mark did his absolute best to replace the siding, finding an exact match wasn't possible, so now I have a portion of siding on the house that doesn't quit match the rest. An accident I know, but unnecessary and I'm stuck with unintended consequences. So, I gave them a "B" overall.

I am reporting my next door neighbor's experience. He needed emergency roof repairs and I told him that this contractor had excellent reviews. He had them out today and reported that they deserved 5 out of 5 (his words). Excellent in all respects.

Excellent. Mark and every other member of every crew made this easy for me. Everyone was a perfectionist.

Mark was very professional and courteous. Work was done on date scheduled. Rain delayed the date, but that possibility was discussed ahead of time. Property left clean. We're very pleased with our new roof.

Carpenter arrived on time, made repairs. The next days workers arrived to replace soffits but it rained so they came back the following day. They discovered there was still a leak someone came back to find.

They were on time, reasonably priced, professional and friendly.

I talked to Crystal on the phone and she asked excellent questions to help narrow down where the leak might be coming from. The technicians arrived right on time and identified an additional leak. They showed me pictures of the leaks, an fixed them as well as checked other areas of the roof. They were professional and I would highly recommend them.

Written estimates for siding were never sent as promised. No work was done here.

Consumer Construction was great at communications. Notified me that there was more damage than what was originally thought. The gentlemen (the workers - 3) showed up around 8 or so and worked each day until dark (took 2 days), they were professional and answered any and all my questions. Clean up was great only found 1 nail that was missed.
