Description of Work: My front loader stopped working and when the technician arrived it spontaneously worked. After 2 loads same problem. I called the company to reschedule an appointment within the guaranteed time and they refused to send the technician back out. I ended up using Sears. Don't use these ripoff artists.

Called Appliance & AC Services of Northern Virginia as they offer repair services on Saturdays. Technican showed up within the time window given. Spent a few minutes in the attic where the heat pump is and then out back, where the compressor is (I think it is the compressor). Technican then informs me that the compressor "is not working" but that he can TRY to "jump start" the compressor, which may not start the compressor but he can give it a try and it will cost me $425.00 (plus $69.99 for visit).................Since I have never heard of anyone recommending "jump starting" a compressor, I declined the attempt and said I would check with other companies.......the technican then offered me a 10% discount, which I also declined. I had to pay the "emergency fee" of $69.99 since it was a Saturday (big waste of money). On Tuesday, 6/26/2012, a reputable a/c company made the appropriate repair - the capacitor was broken - the capacitor cost $62.00 and now my heat pump is working just fine. I think the technian for Appliance & AC Services may not have known what was wrong and/or what he was doing but - in my opinion - the solution he offered and the cost were outragous. Regardless, I would never use nor recommend this company to anyone. I phoned the office to talk to the manager and discuss my experience but no one phoned me back.

Description of Work: Disconnected and removed icemaker from refrigerator, and turned off water connection to it.

Description of Work: I had a broken knob on the fan switch for an Ammana down-draft cooktop, and two burners which the automatic lighters did not work. Estimate was for $285 to fix all, and service tech showed up to begin repair. With little inspection, he began to disassemble the entire cook top from the top. ( I later learned there is an access panel underneath designed for easy replacement of the fan switch). As he removed the last screw , the unit dropped into the void of the cabinet. The tech then yelled for my help to keep him from being crushed. At this point he admitted he had never seen this type of cook top before, even though he advertised as an Ammana repair man. After much twisting and leveraging of gas lines, he was able to get the switch into place. Then with an hour of my help, he managed to put the unit back together. At this point, he attempted to fix the ignitors, wit no luck - don't think his heart was in it. As soon as he departed, we noticed a gas smell coming from the burners. After 3 days of phone calls, we finally got another tech to come out, but even though we could smell gas, he claimed it was "fine". Zero cooperation from the owner, and he threatened to send my account to collection if I didn't pay. Cost me $1700 to replace the cooktop, plus $150 to these jerks. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!!!
