Description of Work: Reinforced foundation footer, having to access it from the inside. Added insulation to wall, replaced drywall, and painted floor. Tiled room. Excellent work.

Description of Work: The waterproofing service was done this past fall. Since then, no water has come in and we have had some heavy rain. Before this was done, we had streams of water with just a medium size rain.

Description of Work: I bought a 'Big Deal' special for $149 for a foundation inspection and report. They were very professional, arrived on time, pleasant and informative, BUT the 'report' was basically an estimate of services. I had two other companies come and give me an estimate for free at a later dates and they both told me the opposite of what was recommended by Apex. I haven't had any work done by Apex or any other company at this time, but frankly, I was disappointed to learn that Apex may not have been honest with me about what the issue was with my home.

Description of Work: Apex installed a sump pump and did numerous basement remodeling to include, but not limited to, new dry wall in 3 rooms, painting of the entire basement, install closet shelves, redo entire electrical work in basement, install light fixtures, install bathroom vanity and mirror. Apex was very responsive on most occasions but on some occasions I was not kept up to date with their schedule and so found myself scrambling to get done what they needed me to do by the short window frame they gave me. The entire project started end of March/beg of April and wasn't completed until July. There were times when we were waiting for approval from the county and also a month delay in a vanity set being received after it was ordered. All in all I felt they did a fine job. The only change I would make is having a clearer idea of where my jobs fit in with their schedule and also being more proactive about them cleaning up after themselves. The person that did the majority of the work the last few months of the job was not very good about cleaning up after himself.

Description of Work: I purchased a $149 deal for Professional Foundation Inspection, Basement Water Leakage & Crawl Space Evaluation, including Written Report!

Description of Work: Apex reinforced my foundation on 2 sides with carbon fiber straps, and then installed a waterproofing system (drain, sump pump, window well tap, etc) in my basement. Overall, I have mixed feelings about my experience with Apex. I am pleased with the price; compared to other estimates I received it came in less overall. Another plus is that they were able to do both the reinforcement and the waterproofing, so I did not have to hire 2 separate contractors. At first, everything went well and I felt that the estimator/owner (Lou) and the crew were very responsive, helpful, and trustworthy. However, things changed a bit as the project went on. The job took longer than expected because the county claimed that Apex did not submit the required drawings in order to receive permits to do work. I still don't know if this was on the county's end or Apex's end, but there was a stop in work while that was sorted out (the work failed inspection the first time because of it). I don't think that drawings are typically required for this kind of work, and I'm not sure why the county required them for my home. A different inspector said that drawings should not have been required- long story short, it resulted in extra cost for Apex, and some nervousness for me, but it got done in the end. Overall, Apex's communication throughout the process could have been better. There were a couple miscommunications about some of the work that was to be done. Though I am not a structural engineer, I am in the building industry and have a general understanding of the work that needed to happen and the construction process. There were times throughout the project where it was very difficult to talk to Apex- I felt that they were talking down to me (I won't surmise why, but it happened a few times). I also overheard some Apex reps talking about me on speaker phone, and those of us in the room were surprised at what we heard. The crew tracked concrete on my deck and few other missteps happened (seal around the pipe outside cracked after the first day, for example), but they cleaned it up and fixed the issues no problem. I have not had problems with my basement (no flooding!) since the work was completed. I'm unsure if I would hire Apex again.

Description of Work: They installed an interior basement waterproofing system including perimeter drainage troughs, 2 sump pumps with electrical outlets and one exterior stairwell drain. Lou was very responsive and helpful.The work went smoothly and was completed on schedule. I plan to call them again for other work in the future. With this project, I learned something that may be helpful to others who are considering having basement waterproofing installed for the first time. The basement waterproofing contractors that we talked to didn't include the "put-back" work. This means that they remove sections of drywall, flooring, baseboard trim, and other things along the perimeter where the waterproofing system is installed, but they don't include the repair or "put-back" of this stuff in their base proposal. In our case, this also meant that a sink and toilet that were along the perimeter were removed as well. This was explained up front, before any contract paperwork was signed, so we understood what we were getting into, but it wasn't something I realized before when we initially started getting quotes for waterproofing systems.

Description of Work: The general manager of the company went around my home and identified areas of concern and identifiied the source of water infiltration. He was open and honest and provided a repair quote within an hour.

Description of Work: This was a Big Deal. I wanted an honest assessment of the crack and water problem in my basement. I think I received this, with the caveat that this company provides basement waterproofing and it is in their interest to recommend their service. However, I knew I had a problem and I appreciated the detailed explanation I received for what could be done and what was wrong with my present, inadequate solution. |But since then I have had other proposals and estimates and realize I did not have to pay for the advice I got, since other companies come out for free. |Still, it was an acceptable way for me to seriously look at my wet basement and finally decide to do something about it. |

Description of Work: Had the company provide an foundation inspection for an old home. The office was very professional when trying to schedule the appointment. They did not try to sell me things which were not needed only recommended improvements. On the whole I was very pleased with their service.

Description of Work: Apex examined the foundation of my house thoroughly for issues. Several areas of concern were identified. We agree to have the most serious issue addressed: foundation repair. The repair estimate was delivered to me and I found it acceptable.

Description of Work: Apex inspected my basement, identified water issues along one wall, proposed a solution, and provided an estimate to fix the problem. I decided against having the work done at this time due to unrelated issues.

Description of Work: This was a estimate in relation to a wet basement. The Big Deal was a lower price for the estimate. I did not follow through because I thought the inspection and the resulting estimate was incomplete. The estimator mentioned in passing that we'd need to have a sump pump put in and that they would have to tear up the tile in a downstairs bathroom. I was concerned that this was an expensive part of the possible solution that was not part of the inspection until I asked some questions and this was brought up.

Description of Work: After buying the Angie's List "Big Deal" for an inspection and estimate from Apex Waterproofing , I discovered that they offer this service for free anyway. Also I need someone to come to my house now rather than the July 15th date that they said they could come out to give estimate . Also I was told that there minimum charge is " $3,100.00 dollars ." NO THANKS . I respectfully ask that my $89.00 money be refunded to my credit card .

Description of Work: Though I have not actually seen the job myself as I am in another State I will say that Apex Waterproofing was courteous and flexible with the schedule. They were prompt in returning calls and providing an estimate. The work done according to my tenant was done excellently and they cleaned up afterwards. The work accomplished was sealing the basement in Feb 2013. I guess the proof will be in the pudding if the basement stays dry during long and heavy rains over time. The price to me was high but I do not have another estimate to compare it to. The cost was over $6,400.
