They charge $1800 for 10 pounds of R410a refrigerant. Thats no labor to install it, just refrigerant, and you can buy a 25LB tank of it for around $800. Should be charging me only a few hundred dollars for the 10 pounds I need, since AHS should be paying for all labor and parts. The labor Legum's claims to install/recharge labor would be paid by AHS (American Home Shield). If work was attempted not through AHS, I would use my regular HVAC company, who would charge me $2100 for part, labor, and refrigerant. Why would I pay Legum's $1800 for just refrigerant? Apparently, they have huge markup on this product. When I called my regular HVAC company, 10Lbs of refrigerant was only $200-300 of the bill; which falls in line with what a 25LB tank of it costs. AHS offered me $235 cash in Liu instead of using Legum's, which is probably what they pay Legum's; so they pass the all the shortfall onto the customer. Why do I have a home warranty since they will pay nothing to fix this. If Legum's' wants to stay in business, they need to stop doing work for AHS as this just ends in bad review and upset customers. On top of that, they want to charge $300 for locking caps (from what I read, to prevent drug heads from sniffing refrigerant), this again, I can buy these caps online for $30, and not pay $300. Not once has my regular HVAC company mentioned locking caps, and maybe this would be code/required when home is sold. but trying to add this onto a bill that has nothing to do with repair at hand complicates things which warranty company (which they denied paying anyway), and conveys an unnecessary money maker add-on like a bad car dealership.

American Home Shield, dispatched Legum's Heating and cooling, operates out of Windsor, VA to repair our air conditioning unit. Monday, August 3, 2020, a technician for this company arrived at our home and informed us our refrigerant was at full capacity, and he needed to change a compressor. Yesterday, August 5, 2020, the same gentleman returned to our home claiming we need 10 lbs of coolant. Informing this gentleman I was in route to my home he rushed from the premises. After checking the exterior unit, I visual saw the gas released from the unit covering our siding and the ground. Following, I alerted both American Home Shield and Legums of the incident. Legums Heating and Cooling send another technician to my home to supposedly assess the situation and resolve the dilemma. Unfortunately for us, he was only sent for damage control. He, on several occasions, attempted to convince me by releasing gas from the unit into the air that it would cause the same effect (which I believe is also illegal). Not once did the gas released produce enough chemical to add more oil/refrigerant on any surface. Following, the new technician claimed he was attempting to diagnose the problem with our unit. Instead, after 2 hours this gentleman came to my home to make an effort to clean the chemicals while flooding the soil around the unit. I will provide 2 photos of the chemicals and another photo of the following day demonstrating the amount of water around the unit 12 hours later. Please contact me if you would like more photos. The photos of the siding shows 2 different colors. The darker color is the refrigerant which when wiped is a thick oily substance. If you look at Google reviews it is obvious this is a common tactic used by this company to increase cost with refrigerant
