Description of Work: Sunroom. They used subcontractors that did very poor quality work. Never showed up when they said that they would. They eventually fixed all of the problems but it was a terrible experience.

Life is too short to deal with this company. Life is also too short to explain in detail all that took place. We meet with them several times and they explained how well they communicate and how strong their quality control program is and how experience they were. We worked up an agreeable design. We bought what they said and signed a contract for over $100,000. We made a big mistake. We were extremely disappointed. They were to complete the project within three months but almost a year later they finished. They did not live up to the sales pitch and it?s seems nothing went right. We were extremely frustrated and disappointed. I cannot recommend this company.

Adequately. I had to call, after a long wait, to find out whether the replacement pane had arrived at this dealer. The cost of $1,400 for one pane, even though it's curved, seemed pretty high. But no choice: There's only one manufacturer, and only this one installer in my area.
Description of Work: Provided curved pane to replace broken pane of greenhouse glass.

I have never been so upset with a company in my life. I gave them the first installment for my sunroom in November or 2013 with a completion date of 2/2/14. They finally sent a crew to my house in January to start the job and it went downhill from there. The project manager didn't seem to know when the crew was coming and so I never knew when the work was going to be done. They left huge piles of trash in my yard including fast food bags that my dogs would get in to. Repeatedly, I asked for someone to remove the boards with nails in them and trash and it took weeks for them to comply. Once, I loaded the trash on my truck and took it to the dump myself so my dogs wouldn't get injured. The crew did not have a trim carpenter and they tried to do trim work that was the worst I had ever seen. The windows were crooked. the sills didn't match and they mixed #! and #2 lumber knowing that I intended to stain the wood and it needed to be all #1. They also applied the cedar siding on the outside with trim nails instead of stainless steel nails and the siding would have been stained and the nails would have rusted and the siding would have fallen off. They also brought me a used damaged air conditioner, heat unit that wasn't in a box and had no hardware with it. After months of asking for the general manager I finally got him to come look at the work that was done. He agreed with everything and brought in another crew that was great. At this point they were over two months late with the delivery and he had to tear all the trim off( every piece) and tear all the cedar off the outside. I explained from the beginning I was having a wedding in late May and i can't tell you how nerve racking this was. They fixed the crooked window and finally got trim and cedar fixed. The sliding glass door didn't come in with the windows so they still had not finished the job by May 1. I finally got the sliding glass door and it had a beige handle on one side and a white handle on the outside( my house in cedar with dark green trim) The handles were both supposed to be brass. I finally reluctantly paid them the rest of the money May 5th when they delivered the new handles. When I suggested that they give me a discount for all the hardship we went through he said he didn't make any money on this job because it had to be done twice. I explained how far behind I was and would have to hire people now to help me get my house in order for the wedding. His answer to me was " at least I fixed it, I could have left it the way it was! That totally shocked me and I gave up.

Sold me something that could not be built. Signed contract for construction of small sunroom in my backyard. Soon thereafter I was told that the proposed design was not feasible and had to be changed. Few weeks later, the design had to be changed once again. Big changes, not little ones.* Then building permit application was denied because proposed structure would not meet fire regulations plus they failed to answer several requests for information. While I'm trying to work with them to figure out ways to satisfy county's concerns, I get letter telling me that the contract is cancelled and returning portion of my deposit. I have long record of e-mails and phone conversations with ridiculous lies from them. Ended up with no work done and over $2,000 down the drain. They hold ownership of the design, kept all the drawings, etc. * Examples: The insulation system that salesman promoted as big selling point was not compatible with my design. The base and boundaries of the sunroom had to be substantially changed at least twice. I don't even know what the last design was because they never provided me with copies of anything. Sept 2013 - Response by contractor is incorrect and misleading. That was the problem all along. They all lied again and again. Ridiculous lies like Randy saying that I wanted the sunroom so that I could watch the sunrise. One, I never said such a thing. Never had reason to talk about the sun rising or whatever. Two, the sunroom would have faced West. Never heard of the sun rising on the West. They can say whatever they want, the fact is that they lied again and again.
Description of Work: Salesman sold me something that he had no idea whether or how it could be built. Lots of lies and finger-pointing. Complete lack of communication among their staff. Refused to take responsibility for proposing something that they should have known could not meet basic fire regulations. Deceiving. Took my money.

1. No one lied to [member name removed] at any time, as is with all customers, many designs were presented by Randy Sharps and even was changed, at [member name removed] request, at the measure. 9/26/12 2. I personally notified [member name removed] that moving forward would incur costs associated with drawings and engineering stamped plans. He agreed. 9/26/12 3. Contract (Article 4. Progress Payment – USE OF DOWN Payment. Buyer understands and agrees that the deposit (initial Payment) will be used for the purposes of job expenses including, but not limited to design costs, engineering & drawing fees, physical materials, permitting expenses, project management and administrative fees. He signed this contract on 9/21/12. 4. What was sold could have been built; customer ran variance didn’t cover side yard setbacks. He filed for his own building variance prior to us getting to the first appointment. 5. Right elevation required, according to the building reviewer, a fire rated wall (not glass) even though the lot beside him has commercial property approximately 100 feet away and a building isn’t right up against [member name removed] building. 6. His fence and landscaping was very deceiving. Only after getting a plat could you see that his property is even with his right wall of the house (even his fireplace isn’t on his property – don’t understand that one either). 7. Again – no one lied to [member name removed] as I, Mike Gordon, General Manager had the most dealing with him. 8. All questions raised by the county was addressed; however, the fact was that they would not allow a glass wall on the right elevation and [member name removed] refused to have a fire wall there. 9. [member name removed] agreed to a slab for his flooring on 12/18/12 at 4:45 P.M. 10. Filed for the permit on 1/9/13 with Arlington County. 11. After exhausting all possibilities with the county, and having Randy revisit designs with [member name removed], and his unwillingness to comply with the counties requirements for a firewall, I sent a letter date 2/6/13 acknowledge cancellation of his contract and the description of the costs incurred. 12. 5/13/13 at 2:00 p.m. I met with [member name removed] for a court hearing. Spoke prior to the hearing, sat together awaiting the hearing, and walked out together. Judge told [member name removed] that he had to be aware of the contract he was signing. [member name removed] accepted the cancellation when he deposited the refund check.

Description of Work: Two windows purchased from the company @ 10 years ago had the seals fail and fogged over. After working with TRS on this since 2011, this year they contacted the manufacturer and were able to get replacements shipped to our home. TRS had their crew come install the replacement windows at no charge; according to TRS the equivalent of @ $1200 of service.

We had used this company a few years ago to build a Sunroom as a part of a mountain home, We were so pleased with the work that we then hired them to build an additional glass room where we could install a hot tub and have room for exercise equipment. The team they sent to do the work were very responsible, punctual, hardworking and fast. They went above and beyond with solutions to various challenges. The work was finished on time and within budget, The cost was not small but you get what you pay for and we were very pleased. we have had use of the addition for a year now with no problems. I would not hesitate to recommend this company!

Originally, the sunroom was to be built on an existing 40 year old concrete deck. However, soon into the project, it was determined by Total Remodeling that the concrete was not stable enough to support the room. Total Remodeling acknowledged the fact and arranged for the concrete to be removed and an entirely new foundation was to be built. A new contract was generated and an amount of money was added to accommodate some of the expense of tearing down the deck ($4,000 was added to the cost). It was explained that the money added did not cover the costly removal of the concrete. The change of plans occurred during the month of January. Within days, the building permit was renewed or amended, the concrete deck was demolished and carried away, and construction of the sunroom began. Total Remodeling's project manager was always available and saw to it that construction moved along smoothly and in a timely manner. He called me, often the day before, so I would know what, when, and who to expect. Despite a trying time in my personal life, the project manager?and all their employees?showed the utmost courtesy while performing their jobs.
Description of Work: Total Remodeling of Winchester, Virginia built a very nice sunroom on the back of my house. All of their workers were very mannerly and professional. All of them traveled the distance from the Winchester area to my home in Fairfax County willingly and promptly. Weather was sometimes an issue but I felt that every effort was made for them to arrive on days when the weather conditions were not the best. The sunroom was built to specifications and in compliance of the proposal and contract. I am completely satisfied and pleased with the final result. The only problem with my sunroom has been the sanding of an interior wall where drywall was mounted successfully but the final sanding of the drywall was not done to satisfaction. An employee, whose responsibility was not the drywall, acknowledged the error and contacted the proper person. The problem continues to be pending after the sunroom was completed. Based on Total Remodeling's excellent service throughout construction, I feel certain the drywall issue will be resolved soon.
