It took nine months to finish the house, a standard 2000 sq ft Cape Cod. Nothing extravagant or complex. Weather was not the cause of the delays. After waiting nine months for this house, we still have issues that have not been resolved. Major examples are rain water running under basement door, rain water entering through well pipe penetration, a broken garage door that was broken the day before we moved into the house. This is just a list of things that are yet unresolved, not the things that we've had to fight to get fixed already. We moved into the house in January 2018 and these problems are still unresolved. Beyond these issues there are numerous cosmetic issues that are obvious novice errors and demonstrate a lack of general home-building skill that even an amateur DIY'er would not do. A good example is that the door jambs on 8 of the 14 interior doors have 3/8 to 1/2 inch gaps between the floor and the door jamb. Those gaps are filled with caulk. I've had to adjust numerous doors myself because they were not put in correctly. Also, whoever stained and poly'd the balcony rail did not put any covering down on the floors below. So, we have a line of polyurethane splatter on the living room floor below the balcony. I've had to fix holes in drywall that were just not corrected, particularly around the recessed lighting in the ceilings. Do not use Cameron Metzger/Granite Custom Homes. He has no idea what he is doing and will tell you he wants to make things right, but will not get anything done promptly.
