Initially is seemed good, but he never finished the job. He offered the best price but never finished the work. He stopped answering and returning our phone calls when we tried to get him to finish grinding a stump that he left in mididle of our yard. Buyer beware, make sure all of the work is Completely finished before you pay him! We still have a large "shark fin" of a tree stump left in our backyard after paying him $200 to remove it.
Description of Work: We hired tiki to take down some trees and grind stumps in our yard.

I can not say enough good things about TJ and his crew from Tiki Tree Service. I had originally contracted with another vendor to remove 3 medium-sized dead trees from my front yard and 1 extremely large tree which overhung the house. After giving the first vendor a deposit, he subcontracted the work out to Tiki and then left me high and dry -- along with my deposit. TJ was extremely upset over how I was treated by the other vendor. Tiki was originally only to take down the trees and the orher vendor was to do the clearing, hauling and stump grinding. TJ ended up doing all the clearing, hauling and stump grinding as well for the original price that had been quoted by the other vendor, which basically was his cost. He also offered to help me in small claims court to recover my deposit from the other vendor. I would definitely recommend TJ and Tiki Tree Service and will most certainly use his company exclusively from now on.

Our experience with TIKI started out well enough. TJ (TIKI's owner) came over, and we explained what we wanted to have done and also that for financial reasons we would have to do the work in two phases over two years. He was willing to work with us on that and drew up plans accordingly. He presented his plan for the first phase and gave us an estimate of the cost, which was within our budget. Although TIKI had done work for us and two or our neighbors in the past, none of these jobs were of the scale we planned. TJ took us out to two sites to give us an idea of what our project would look like when completed. Both were still in progress. The owners at one site came out and talked with us and seemed quite pleased with the work TIKI was doing for them Work commenced on January 13, 2012. As the project took shape we were impressed. It was vastly superior to the railroad ties and bricks that made up our former patio. At this point we would have given TIKI good references. But on Feb. 6, TJ showed up asking for final payment. He told us that the hardscape was finished and assured us that his crew would be back to clean up our site. He pointed out that he still had $70,000 worth of equipment on the site, which guaranteed that they would be back. Naively we took him at his work and paid him in full. Sure enough, within a week his crew came and removed the $70,000 worth of heavy equipment. Then followed five weeks of broken promises and unreturned phone calls as we tried to get him to come back and finish the cleanup. On Mar. 16 two members of the crew finally came out and removed the day-glo orange trash pit and some other light equipment. They moved materials that were on our neighbor's lot onto ours. That we the last we saw of them. The last time we taked to TJ he basically told us they were done. In the meantime we have discovered places where the hardscape was not finished. When laying the floor of the patio, TIKI failed tleave clearance for attaching a hose to the spigot--even with an adaptor. In cleaning up the site ourselves, we've realized just what a huge mess they left. We have had to hire a company to come and remove the remaining debirs. All this has caused us to doubt the quality of all the work TIKI performed. We had thought that since phase 2 remained to be done that TJ would have wante dot stay in our good graces. Instead we feel that he wrote us off. What started out as a promising project has turned into a huge disappointment.
Description of Work: We hired TIKI to replace a brick patio and railroad-tie bulkhead with a stone bulkhead and paving-stone floor. The plan included stairs connecting one level with another.

HORRIBLE!
Description of Work: I had a paver patio installed using brick size pavers. Below the patio was placed a "drainage" plastic pipe that 4 gutter downspouts were connected to in which would come up on either side of the patio. When it rained the water came over the entire gutter which eventually pulled partly off the wood which caused the paint to peel. When I called I was told the gutter was probably clogged. One of TJ's guys stopped by reached up and found nothing in the gutter. Nothing was done, was told he did nothing to the gutter. The rain pouring over continues. There was no slant put onto the patio so rain also pools on it. This past February I went out back to see the patio where an underground oil tank had been removed was sinking. I called, very concerned the oil tank on the patio would tip. The same man, James stopped by and said "we knew this would happen". I called TJ and he said he'd fix it after being in one year and would guarantee it wouldn't tip over. He said he'd be here June 1st. I called the next day. He said he'd be here that Saturday. I said I noticed now grass is growing in a couple of places between the pavers. I still had one half of a bag of the fill to put into a few places in the porch--yes I did that. I worked that day and found the one area that was the worst not sunk anymore. THIS AFTERNOON MY KITCHEN HAS DRIPPING WATER OUT OF THE A/C VENT. I USED TO HAVE A BUCKET OUTSIDE TO CATCH THE CONDENSATION WATER, BUT THEY CONNECTED THAT TO THE DOWNSPOUT THAT DOESN'T WORK. Earlier this year I had 3 other companies stop to give me estimates to fix this & of course it's very costly. I'm TERRIFIED to pay for this again to be just as DISGUSTED as I am now. I saved for a long time and now I wish I had just put in a cement patio. I wonder if you could recommend a cement company that could be trusted & I'll start again.

When I examined carefully the copy of the contract with which Tiki provided me at the time of payment, I found that Tiki had falsely and fraudulently forged on it, above my signature, so-called "change orders," for the "additional" services, at the additional $2,000.00, described above. The document is indeed an odd one since it is a carbon copy of the contract with the so-called 'change orders" written on it in ink. Another contractor, who had the appropriate equipment, finished the work for me in one morning for $250.00. In addition, Tiki damaged my neighbor's property in performing the work on mine which Tiki had agreed at the outset, with both me and the neighbor, to be particularly careful not to do
Description of Work: In or about July 2008, I contracted with Tiki to clear, for $2,000.00, approximately 1/2 acre of land behind my home. After about a week of work, Tiki claimed it had misestimated the job and completion would require another $1,000.00 and a week after that Tiki asked for $1,000.00 more to "finish" the job. I agreed to the additional $2,000.00. A week later, however, asked for another $1,000.00. This time, I declined; inspected the work; informed Tiki that much of the land was still not clear, as agreed; and requested that Tiki finish the job at the originally agreed upon price of $2,000.00. Tiki then admitted that it could not do so because it did not have, and had never - - even at the time of the original contract - - had the equipment necessary to do the job as required by the contracts scope of work. I expressed my surprise and dissatisfaction. In response, Tiki demanded immediate payment of $4,000.00 in the form of a certified check. I reluctantly complied. .
