Description of Work: Completely remodeled our master bath to included redesign, addition of new tub and shower, granite counter top for vanity and new wall and floor tiling. The remodeling went extremely well and results were outstanding. I have already requested and received an estimate for remodeling our guest bath based on the professionalism and workmanship of VA Bath. Exceptional professionalism and outstanding work. I highly recommend.

Description of Work: Rich completely removed the old caulk and top layer of grout in my shower. It was completely stained and ugly and did not ever look clean. He recaulked and and cleaned the grout and 2 days later sealed it. It looks like a new shower - beautiful. He was on time and easy to communicate with. I would totally use him again and recommend his company. I did not get multiple estimates, so I don't know how his price compares to others, but it was worth what I paid.

Description of Work: 2 tile bathrooms |It went great |Rich, his father & brother have been in the business for many years(2nd generation) & only do bathrooms & do it well!!! |They come when they say they are coming, work hard & clean up every day better than we have ever had before. I really liked their work model. They come at 7:30 & 3 men work hard till around 2:00 & I mean organized team work, no fooling around. Then in the afternoon they have time to get supplies, go back to the work site & do touch up, communicate with old & new customers & take care of surprises. Rich is really big on communicating with emails which keeps everything organized. |Really liked these people & really liked the bathrooms. |Highly recommend

Description of Work: Rich arrived for our first meeting right on time. He is very personable and seems to know what he is talking about. He said he would not be the least expensive of the three estimates we were getting, but he was right in the mix. The problem was we were working with our insurance company, and he said right off he did not like to work with insurance companies. So, when contacted by them, he did not provide any reasonable response, and the lead time he said he needed before he could do the work grew very quickly--going up by months in only a few days. The insurance company and we both concluded he did not want the job, so he was dropped from contention. It is a shame, I thought he had some good ideas, and his cost estimate was right in line with the others. Even if he did want the job, we could not wait almost 6 months to start the work--the last estimate of time that he gave.

Response from The Virginia Bath Company
[member name removed], first off thank you very much for taking your time to post a review. I would like to address your review and comments below . I did state at our initial meeting that I do not work with insurance companies. I have been in the remodeling business going on my 17th year and have seen their procedures on handling water repair damage due to a leaking shower or bathtub. Unfortunately they do not have the homeowner in their best interest. I feel like he did not have a clue on how to quote your repair for your bathroom damage. After reviewing the estimate provided from the insurance company here are only a few items they had missed or not provided a realistic cost for the following repairs: 1. Install a vinyl pan prior to installing the concrete shower floor. 2. They had not planned on replacing your current shower door that would have cost $1200.00 3. I did not see any allowance to obtain a structural building permit for notching and to sister a floor joist. 4. Painting 20 lineal feet of shoe molding (1 coat) $1.59 ?? Every painter will recommend at least 2 coats. I had contacted the insurance adjuster (per your request) the same day he contacted me. I did make it very clear that I did not work with Insurance companies when we first met but I made an exception because you asked me to. I called the adjuster and he wanted to know why our prices were so far apart for your bathroom repair. I stated that I only use the best products and exceed manufactures installation procedures on every bathroom I remodel. He did tell me that he had a copy of my detailed quote (that I provided to you) and would like a further breakdown that day. I did make him aware I was on the road going to meet with a customer and had another customer meeting after that one. I did tell him he would have to wait as I had other customers waiting for estimates. I did tell him I work on a first come first serve basis. He then stated, “I look forward to having your breakdown this evening”. I have customers that wait up to a week for a detailed written estimate. I feel like the insurance adjuster was frustrated because all 3 (including mine) estimates were more than double what he quoted. His repair quote was way below what any professional would charge for your repair. After reviewing his estimate on your repair, he has no business quoting repairs for his clients. The actual homeowner will absorb the additional cost of the bathroom repair, which should have been covered by your insurer. I feel that the C grade for the price is unjustifiable due to the work not being completed. My personal team is compensated for their experience and a level of quality you will not see anywhere else (please see other reviews) I had stated in my estimate exactly what I'm going to use and how it is going to be installed. I do this on every estimate so homeowners know exactly what they are paying for. I guarantee the other 2 estimates had no details about installation products. My price was in line with the other contractors as stated in your review. I did state at our initial meeting that I had a wait time of 4-5 months. You said that was no problem and your wife said” then what are you doing here”. My response was “I feel like everyone deserves to receive an estimate if one is requested”. I do not agree with your statement that I did not want your project. I still spent over two hours completing your bathroom estimate even when you stated that you needed it done right away and my wait for new projects would not fit your timeline. I feel like that my time was used to meet the insurance companies’ requirement of 3 written estimates before a payout is provided. I spend many Saturdays and Sundays replacing tile, missing grout, or other small repairs in showers for homeowners throughout the year to prevent damage to their homes. Your shower has been repaired 2 times before by a tile contractor. Unfortunately he has created a dangerous situation for you and your family that needs to be handled right away. I told you that at our initial meeting and again on 4/23/2014. You have extensive black mold covering about a third of your bathroom subfloor. Spray foam insulation joining two pieces of subfloor instead of blocking or an additional floor joist. In my opinion this contractor deserves an “F” rating for causing this situation. My responsiveness has always been and will always be one of my top priorities. As you can see in many reviews, my past clients commended me on my response time. I always respond to calls seven days a week by phone or email from 5 AM to 10 PM. I also arrived for your estimate on time, provided you your detailed written estimate on time, and followed through with any requests or questions concerning the estimate. Overall, my commitment is to the homeowner and not the insurance companies. I hope your review and this response will provide homeowners useful information on how to approach an Insurance claim when water damage is present. [member name removed], again thank you very much for taking time to provide a review. Per our conversation on 4/23/2014, I apologize if you got the impression I never wanted your project. I was up front with you about our lead-time and I would rather be honest and lose a project than lie to a potential client.
