LOWES

Don't buy doors from Lowe's. Wanted a side door to my garage - they actually had it in stock (yay!) and arranged for Poor Boy Construction to install it. Poor Boy arranged to install it on a Tuesday from 9-11. I stayed home from work to be there. They never showed, never called, never responded to text and the phone was busy. I angrily went to Lowe's. They apologized and after 3-4 hours managed to get in touch with Poor Boy. Poor Boy called me to reschedule for Saturday 9-12. They never showed, never called, never responded to text and the phone was busy. Lowe's told me that this is the only company they use to install doors. So I cancelled the whole contract, after wasting six hours waiting for someone who never showed. The Lowe's people don't like Poor Boy either, but that's an upper management decision. Avoid them.

So far they have been fine. I took a couple of things back and there were no issues. They didn't question anything. The guy in the fan department was very knowledgeable; he knew exactly what I wanted. I did have to wait around for somebody to wait on me. Their prices are average and no different than other home improvement stores. They were very professional.

The experience was very good. The Lowes representative called frequently and stayed in touch well. Overall, everything went real well. The salespeople at the store were fine; they were informative and gave me different options. The contractor folks were pretty meticulous about listening to what we wanted. They came promptly at the times we wanted.

Replaced 3 '60's 5-gallon toilets all of which leaked with new toilets from Lowe's in Williamsburg. Their contractor did the install. Eijer toilet worked well-recommended. American Standard Space Savers leaked, flappers were distorted coming out of the box for both. Lowe's was very responsive, wanting to know if I wanted to repair or replace the toilets. Opted to repair. They ordered new flappers from American Standard. Toilets still did not work - American Standard Space Saver NOT recommended. Asked to upgrade to Am. Std. Champion. They asked that I pay the spread on the toilets they would cover installation. Installers were on time, courteous, and knew their jobs. Would use Lowe's again. Customer service very good.
