I contacted Sheaves for an estimate to fix a sloping dining room floor as well as replace the existing laminate in that same room with something else. At that point, I was unsure of the type of flooring I wanted, what would work best, etc, and wanted recommendations and insight on that front as well. Jeff got back to me promptly and scheduled a time for the estimate. He explained how they would mitigate the slope in the floor, and also recommended a flooring type that would be appropriate for the room but also work best with that sloping in mind. He answered all my questions then, and was also quick to reply with answers to additional questions afterward. After doing more research I decided to move forward, and I couldn't be happier that I did. Sheaves arrived promptly on the day of the job. They were courteous and respectful throughout, cleaned everything up, and most importantly did an excellent job with the flooring install. Instead of cracking and moving laminate there is now great looking tile. The room looks and feels so much better. I am planning on replacing other flooring throughout the house, and will definitely be contacting Sheaves to tackle that as well!

This is without a doubt the best person I have ever hired to work on my home. His estimate was fair, his puncuality was perfect, his workers were professionals, and the work was beautiful. My house was left spotless. Seriously I could not believe it.

Sheaves Floors LLC is a real find if you want new flooring. Jeff, Darlene, and their crew were all very professional, courteous and did an excellent job throughout. At the site inspection it was obvious Jeff is very experienced and knowledgeable about flooring. They promptly provided us with pricing for the flooring options we discussed that were reasonable and complete with everything clearly listed. Jeff was also quick to respond to all our phone calls and emails. During the installation they were neat in all their work and it was soon obvious they hold themselves to a very high work ethic. They completed the job within their time estimate and this was less than half the time estimate given by another company ? yet the quality of their work was excellent. Afterward they made sure everything was clean, all waste materials removed, and any concerns or questions we had were addressed prior to leaving. Our new wood floors are absolutely beautiful and we will definitely call on Sheaves again for any future flooring needs.

Professional from start to finish. The floors were in less than desirable condition with paint and pet stains and Jeff and crew made the floors look new again! Very pleased with natural finish; even the new oak planks were toothed in flawlessly and match the rest of the floor. Very neat- no cleanup for us.

Very punctual and professional throughout. Used a vacuum resurfacing machine that left virtually no sawdust or residue. Did a little more than first expected (for no extra charge) as they came across additional boards (hat benefited from replacing (after the refrigerator was moved out). Would highly recommend. First class job.

They performed their work excellently. They showed up when they said they would and left when they said they would. The work took as long as they said it would (3 days), and when I had to leave them at my home by themselves, there were absolutely no issues (as one would hope!). They even took care of little details, including trim in closets that would never be seen. Excellent work overall.

It was great! The crew was wonderfully professional and conscientious. They were responsive, communicative, and on time for each and every element of the job. They treated our home with utmost care and respect. Once the work was complete, they did a very fastidious clean-up. My husband had to travel for work during the scheduled installation, and the crew went above and beyond to assist with moving larger furniture pieces. I couldn't have been more pleased and impressed with the entire process. They exceeded expectations, to be sure! We'll definitely use Sheaves again for our next flooring project.

Fantastic, from start to finish! Jeff Sheaves and his son, Aaron, were both super professional throughout every phase of this big project. It was a real blessing to find them on Angie's List, and we could not be happier with the work they did for us. We were new to the Harrisonburg, VA area and had relied upon Home Depot to install new flooring in these two areas, along with several other areas of our new home. There was a great sale going on when we were about to move in, and we knew we could trust Home Depot to stand behind their work. However, we also thought we could trust them to hire great people to do the work right - at least most of the time - but we were wrong. Unfortunately, the hardwood and half of the porcelain tile they laid were done so badly that both needed to be taken up and redone. After much time and effort, Home Depot agreed to redo half of what they had done and refund money on this part since they no longer carried the same tile. We did have to insist on getting an independent flooring inspector to evaluate everything; but to Home Depot's credit, they offered to pay for this inspection and they also gave us $700 to cover taking up the kitchen/breakfast room tile. So, our main concern became finding a trustworthy, COMPETENT flooring contractor, one with enough experience also to do a great job of removing two rooms of large-format porcelain tile - a very messy job that I dreaded having done. I was exhausted and very anxious from many months of working things out with Home Depot while also settling into our new home. So, I was thrilled to find Sheaves Flooring right up front when I checked Angie's List. Jeff Sheaves answered my email the very next day with a phone call and set up a time to come out to see the job the next day. His friendly but professional demeanor put me at ease immediately, and he was on time - a very good sign! His showroom was also not far away. We were very relieved that Jeff does not use subcontractors. He cares too much about providing ALL of his customers the same high-quality service and workmanship he and his son both take pride in providing. He was very thorough in evaluating our flooring needs and in considering any potential issues He carefully measured both floor areas for tile, vinyl sheet, and HW options. He explained how they would hang plastic and use a special vacuum to control as well as possible any dust when taking up the tile. He did estimate high on the labor cost to remove the tile in his bid(s) for us because this part was so unpredictable. To be fair to all, though, he said he would charge $45 per man-hour and bill only for the hours it took them. If it took less time, he would re-calculate and deduct those hours from the total cost. If it took more time than he had initially bid, he would eat the cost. Very fair. Jeff took time to bid our job several different ways after we went to his showroom since we could not make up our minds on the materials we wanted him to use. My husband wanted hardwood in the breakfast room since that would make it seem a part of our family room rather than the kitchen. I thought that would be too costly. Sheave's showroom had so many different kinds of flooring options and many were on sale, so Jeff emailed us several bids within a couple of days. That made it an easy decision: LVT plus HW. After reading the excellent Angie reviews and meeting both Jeff and his son, Aaron, we didn't mind getting on their 2-month waiting list. We knew it was well worth the wait soon afterwards when we learned - first-hand - the kind of work Sheaves does. Aaron came out a couple of weeks later to do a small job for us, installing a flush HW transition between our existing family room HW and the master bedroom HW Home Depot was going to redo soon. Home Depot had refused to do anything but a T-molding for that transition between HW floors. They said anything else was "impossible," but Sheaves Flooring did it routinely in million-dollar homes around the area. So, Aaron came out to do a proper type of transition to match what they intended to do on the other side of the family room when they installed the new HW in our breakfast area, and He did an excellent job. He installed a single perpendicular board inside the door frame, perfectly, and made it look easy. He was also on time, just like his dad. My being so anxious because everything had gone wrong with the work done by Home Depot could have caused a problem with some contractors, but not with Sheaves. Jeff's wife, Darlene, handles all the paperwork and ordering of materials and supplies. She is very organized and loves closure, but she was very patient when I made several visits to their showroom and then changed my mind a couple of times on the color of the grout once we had decided on the Alterna tile. I was just so afraid of making a mistake! Jeff knows his products well, however, and will give excellent, useful advice when needed. He gave me the confidence I needed to make a firm decision, and the entire job turned out absolutely PERFECT - from our choice of materials to how things on-site were handled. Our new kitchen floor is very attractive and so easy to clean - even the grout!! Dirt just does not stick. :) Sheaves Flooring added much value to our home because this floor really looks like stone tile, yet is comfortable to stand upon. With the breakfast area done in HW, our family room is now a real great room, divided from the kitchen by a long breakfast bar. Jeff assured us that the new natural HW will "amber" fairly quickly when exposed to sunlight and will come to match what is in the family room well enough in a year or so. It looks good even now, though, since we took his advice and had Aaron install two perpendicular boards instead of just one where the new and old HW meet. Great advice! As for price, Sheaves is very competitive and fair. We were not looking for cheap. We wanted quality above all else, and Sheaves does not cut corners. They really care about their long-term reputation, and they have a good one. Jeff insists on using a more expensive underlayment than most, but using them still saved us hundreds of dollars above what Home Depot refunded while, at the same time, increased the value of our home even more. We found that this company is all about giving fair value as well as doing quality work. Aaron, is such an efficient, skilled craftsman that we ended up paying 20% less than the estimate for the side job he did for us and then, later, 50% less for the tile removal, saving us about $700. What is priceless, to me, is that every time I work in the kitchen or walk through our family room, I now feel totally blessed. Bad memories of bumping heads, over and over, with Home Depot are now replaced with good memories of working with the entire Sheaves family. Without reservation, we highly recommend this flooring company to anyone who wants flooring advice they can trust and installers who will do everything right. We could not be happier.

Very well. Floors were in below average condition before refinishing and are in very good condition after refinishing. Jeff was in constant communication throughout and completed the work to my satisfaction completely on schedule.

The men showed up on time. They were extremely neat and fast. They obsessed over the fit and finish of every piece. They cleaned the work site every evening. You could not ask for more professional work.

I was very impressed when talking with them prior to hiring them to do the job.They were very knowledgeable about what the job entailed,and thoroughly explained the process beforehand. Several places on the floor were damaged and needed to be replaced.They did such a fantastic job replacing those areas that no one would ever know that that had been done.They were punctual,thorough,and you could tell they took great pride in their work.

I was so excited to have my very old, outdated carpet and linoleum flooring in my living room, kitchen/dining area and hallway updated to beautiful hardwood and could not have asked for a better contractor than Sheaves. I had one contractor come by to give an estimate but felt a nagging in the back of my mind so decided to get on Angie's List in search of another one. I came across Sheave's Floor and with all the wonderful reviews decided to give them a try. Even though it was later on a Friday evening I sent them an email inquiring about getting an estimate, figuring they would read it on Monday. To my delight I received a response that same evening and the owner, Jeff, was able to come by the next day. He took the time to explain all the options available and what I could expect from the ordering, delivery, and installation and returned a very detailed written estimate within a few days. I took a trip over to their showroom to pick out the flooring; of course asking more questions and taking way too long trying to decide what I wanted; but never once did Jeff act impatient or like I was taking too much time. I liked the fact that their office manager, also his wife, called a few days before the installation to confirm everything was set to go. Installation started on time, finished within the time set and turned out ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I am extremely pleased with the finished product and am so glad I followed my instinct and went to Angie's List for a contractor. One of the other reasons I choose Sheave's Floor is that they are a family owned business and you are dealing with at least one of the family members at each step of the way. Jeff was there at the beginning, stopped by again on the second day and left the rest in the hands of his very capable sons. He even followed up a couple days later to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and if I had any further questions. Before leaving his son did a final walk through inspecting the flooring, baseboard and heel trim installation to ensure all was done adequately, even though he had been there for the whole job. Their cleanup was immaculate; I even asked if they wanted to come back once a week they did such a good job (of course no volunteers). I have nothing but praises for Sheave's Floor and highly recommend them.

it all went incredibly well. Since moving to the area , this is by far the best service I have experienced! The company is family owned and they are the most honest, reliable, proud, hard working people. From the moment I was in the showroom until they finished the job, I can tell you that there is nothing I can complain about. They show up on time, clean up, (daily), any debris, clutter, etc. The floors look fantastic. They are very meticulous in making sure the floors are laid properly. In addition to the furniture, they even helped with moving items to and from rooms, they I was unable to carry myself. I had them place rugs under furniture when the floors were finished and they put up with my changing decisions with good humor. I would not even look at anyone else if you are looking for flooring. Sheaves is the place to go!!! On a side note, I had two other estimates, prior to Sheaves. Not only were they more expensive but (after Sheaves measured my floors, found out the first company that had come to measure floors (when the house was empty), had over-measured by 300 square feet. That is almost the size of two additional guest room. Sheaves did repeat the measurements and confirmed the discrepancy. That was a huge lesson for me!!! I cannot say enough good things about Sheaves flooring. Jeff and Darlene are a pleasure to work with and true professionals. Their crew were prompt and very efficient. Jeff even brought in the flooring manufacturer to our home to be sure it would match our existing wood floors. I was restricted to a wheelchair during the installation and Jeff helped me with a few extra "tasks" while he was at our home. Our floors look wonderful and he is definitely worth the wait... You could not ask for a better contractor to work with...

top notch job. These folks promised a dustless sanding about which I was very skeptical; it really was essentially dustless. They were fastidious in protecting furnishings; they explained the schedule which created only minimal disruption. They even came back on the Sunday after the floors were ready to walk on and moved our furniture back. The floors are gleaming. I give them the highest recommendation.

Service was outstanding! Written estimate provide in detail. We were able to choose to do several items ourselves, the cost of which was deducted from the final bill. Workers arrived and departed promptly and on schedule. Workers were friendly and courteous. Work area was kept exceptionally clean and free of dust during work. At completion of the job, the jobsite was restored to it's original condition. Job was completed on time. I would have these guys back in a heartbeat! Did a super job and recommended without reservation!

I really enjoyed working with Jeff. I initially called to have my floors refinished, but were unable to do so because of the type of floors and the severity of discoloration. We were able to choose some very nice darker wood floors that were installed over the old (that had been glued directly to the slab). The floors look great! Jeff oversaw all the work himself and was able to work our project in really quickly before our move. I am very happy with how it all turned out and will be calling him back for more work in the future.

Sheaves is a first-rate, highly professional company. (And no, they didn't pay me to write this.) Jeff Sheaves' questions and comments when he was taking measurements and telling us about his business made me feel that they would be the people we wanted to work with. For example, when he measured rooms, he used a tape measure instead of a laser. He said that lasers can be inaccurate and make the amount of flooring come up short. We already have oak flooring on our first floor, and wanted matching floors upstairs. We wanted prefinished in order to avoid the dust and fumes from sanding and finishing here in the house. We also wanted the work to be done in as few days as possible, since we both work at home. The other two contractors could only offer us prefinished flooring with microgrooves. That means the floors have visible grooves on both edges of the boards. It would look different from the main floor. Jeff offered us square-edged boards, which look like floors that are sanded and finished. In addition, the flooring, made of red oak, is manufactured here in Virginia, and we liked the idea of buying local. Sheaves price quotation was impressive because it was completely transparent. They laid out every element--flooring, molding and a lot of other stuff, along with labor. They were in the middle of the other two quotes we received. Low price wasn't our primary criteria. Pricing was part of several considerations. Our decision to hire them was a very good one. They worked with us to plan the sequencing of the installation, room by room, for maximum convenience for us and efficiency for them. They were punctual and worked diligently throughout the day, bringing their lunches to make best use of their time. They worked very cleanly, vacuuming dust, etc. as they ripped up the carpets and padding and laid down the floors. All the sawing took place outside. And they tidied up at the end of each day. The crew consisted of 4 people--Jeff Sheaves and his son and daughter, and fourth young man they have carefully trained and who has worked with them for awhile. They were also a pleasure to have in the house. Polite, friendly, and with a great sense of humor. They brought the job in on time and on budget. The work is impeccable and the floors are beautiful. And the whole look of our house has risen a notch. When its time to sell (many years from now, we hope), it's going to impress prospective buyers. I would recommend Sheaves to anyone.

The process went very smoothly. Jeff Sheaves and staff were very professional and courteous. He kept me updated on progress on a daily basis, and responded to my calls in very timely manner. The work done was fabulous and the cost was lower than I anticipated after looking at estimates online. I would highly recommend this company to others!

Jeff showed up and gave us an estimate for the work. One room definitely needed a complete refinish - sanding down before refinishing. The other rooms did not need this and could have basically been buffed with a coarse buff and then refinished. however the price difference was only about 200-300 so we opted to have everything sanded and refinished. Jeff and his team were extremely professional and punctual and worked hard. We couldn't decide on a satin or gloss finish so they laid down a coat of satin to give us an idea of how it would look and said they could do the other coats in gloss if we did not like it. We looked at it after it had dried and we loved it! They did the work in the timeframe they said it would be done in. The floors turned out AMAZING and we couldn't be happier! They also offer a financing option through GE. You get a GE credit card, which does have a high interest rate, but to use it for JUST Sheaves then it's interest free for a year if paid in full.

Beautiful work. Very good service. Trimmed out the baseboard and closet nice. Wish I had them when I did my first floor in hardwood. They did 10 times better job .

Sheaves Floors were great and they have reasonable price. They are professional, have good communication and they straight forward.
