This company is a total scam, just pass them by. I called Window world based on their $189 window advertisements. A sales rep came to the house. He measured the windows and we talked. He told me that since I have a brick house, there was an extra $75 per window charge for "bucking" to case the new windows. It eventually went up to $100 per window. I didn't understand why the new window wouldn't fit where the old one was but I am not a professional and took his word for it. He worked me up an estimate for 7 windows and a picture window. In the estimate were charges for hurricane rating, half screens, double locks and foam insulation on jambs. There was also a $75 trip set up and disposal fee. He told me repeatedly that the windows would easily be installed in a day. He also told me many times that if a window is mismeasured and they have to reorder, the window is free. I could sense the sales rep was uncomfortable about something and now believe he wasn't happy with what he was required to do to sell windows. I wasn't happy with the amount over the $189 per window they advertise but I gave them man a check for half and told him to order the windows. Six weeks passed and I got a call setting a date to install. The installer arrived. Yes a single installer. I suddenly doubted the one day guarantee. The installer was a super good guy, he was an independent contractor working for Window World. The installer did a great job and worked hard but it still took two full days and I missed another day of work for it. The installer charged me an additional $200 because he said two of my window frames needed additional work at the bottom. I'm not sure if I should have been charged for this or not but I didn't have much choice with my windows torn out at the time. When all was said and done the cost per window was $354.25 and there was no additional framing done as the sales rep stated was needed. He installed the windows and exterior trim which was included in the base price of the window. There was an issue with my front window. It was ordered to the right dimension but the width and height were mixed up so that the drain holes on the window were on the side not the bottom. He told me he could caulk the holes shut or have Window world order me a new window. He said he didn't think it would hurt a thing the way it was but it was up to me. I didn't like the situation but I also didn't like the thought of having plastic covering a big hole in my house for another 6 weeks into September. I told him to leave it and I would talk to the company. I recieved a questionnaire days later and I filled it out voicing my problems. I got a call from a supervisor a short while later and he did not care about my isses, just the misordered window. He told me he could order me another window but of course not for free as the sales rep had stated so many times. This outfit is no different than a Macco paint job. After it's all said and done they charge you the same money a top contractor would charge for premium windows but all you get is a run around and a cheap window. I admit I should have been smarter and kicked them to the curb but do yourself a favor and pass them by. There are great independant contractors out there who will install you a window for $189.
