Blue Mountain – Plumbing, Heating & Cooling was established in 2002 as Blue Mountain Plumbing in Fishersville VA. One location and one truck, but big ambitions to be a reliable resource local residents could count on in times of plumbing need. In 2006 the scope of our company broadened as we expanded our coverage area and service offerings. Heating, cooling, air quality, and water treatment were added to plumbing as core service offerings and a comprehensive commitment to keeping our customers comfortable, as well as their homes up and running began.
Today, we proudly serve customers in Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro as well as throughout Rockingham and Augusta County. Still family owned and operated, we remain committed to providing unparalleled customer service to our customers. You can be assured that our entire team will go above and beyond to provide you with a relaxed and professional service experience.

Description of Work: Blue Mountain Plumbing & Heating came out to our house to replace our worn-out water pressure relief valve, a cracked outside spigot line, and a leaky plastic hose that ran to our humidifier. These were leftover issues that had not been resolved almost a year ago by a less-than-reputable plumbing company out of Charlottesville that had done a full-house re-plumbing job. The BMP&H techs took care of the job right away and did it to our satisfaction. They do have upfront pricing with "flat" rates and are a little pricey, but they are very professional and respectful of the homeowner. I would rather pay a little bit extra to these guys, just knowing that the job will be done right the first time, without any hassles. They stand by their work.

Blue Mountain were very quick. It took less than a full day. The garage was clean after the installation. The quote given was very clear, and was explained completely before committing to the job. I will use them again for any plumbing needs that may arise. Top notch company!
Description of Work: I had my main water cut-off valve and hot water heater (new one purchased also from Blue Mt) moved from my crawl space into my garage.

Although I've never posted a negative review, our interactions with Blue Mountain Plumbing, Heating, Cooling - Staunton have sadly given us reason to do so. Early in December, we had a tech come out to evaluate two always-cold rooms in our home; he seemed both courteous and thorough, and said our best solution was to go with base-board electric heating. This could be installed, he said, for about $600 in each room, or BMtn. could order a brand new product they'd made use of just once before, a set-it-down-and-plug-it-in model that might be perfect for us. Curious, we asked where it would come from; he said he did not even know who the supplier was or when it might arrive - hopefully within 2 weeks. We agreed (with some naive trust, I guess) to pay $294 for this less costly alternative. After 2 weeks, another tech delivered the unit - a cheaply-made baseboard heater which, as we discovered moments later, Home Depot sells for $76 and others ship to the consumer for $66 total. The install was, of course, to set the unit down and plug it into the wall - about 1 minute. My wife and I talked it over and decided we really needed to give BMPH&A a call to make it right - that certainly they deserved to make a reasonable profit for ordering and delivering our product, but another $255 above the initial $69 service-consult seemed pretty steep. When we called, Shannon, who told me she is the service manager, said she "could see where we were coming from," but needed to verify what I described with her service tech. After the holiday, about a week later, she called me to say that they could not adjust their price - and that they would keep the full $294 for our $66 heater. She declined to tell me who owns the franchise, and couldn't promise they'd call me, either. At no time did I lose my temper or raise my voice, but when I told Shannon I would be sharing with my employer their decision and posting feedback as to our disappointing experience, she replied sharply that this was "blackmail." When I tried, calmly, to say that customers post positive or negative feedback not as blackmail, but as consumer data, she said curtly "I don't have time for this!" and hung up without another word. My children saw my face, which must have seemed comically surprised, and said "Dad, did she hang up on you?" (They did kind of enjoy that part, since it's never happened before.) I will leave others to discern if the amount charged was a fair rate for services rendered - but I did find Shannon's behavior unprofessional and off-putting, to say the least. I do really wonder about the culture of a franchise that would behave this way. I also recommend Home Depot for plug-in baseboard heaters! Live and learn. - Dave R.

Description of Work: They replaced a burst exterior faucet on 3/15/16. The $482.00 I paid that day included a 1 year plumbing service that includes 3 inspections of the plumbing system plus reduced costs of any service (15%), waived or reduced dispatch fees, etc. I don't have a breakdown of the faucet replacement cost versus the Residential Service Partner Membership but I think the faucet replacement was about $340.00 after membership savings. | |Then I had them out on 3/18/16 to install a new exterior faucet on the opposite side of the house. The $572.00 I paid that day included a 1 year HVAC service membership ($170.00) that I elected to enroll in that includes 2 inspections of the HVAC system plus reduced costs of any service (15%), waived or reduced dispatch fees, etc. | |Altogether I think they are a little on the expensive side. I elected to enroll in the 2 service partner memberships which immediately reduced the cost of the current work & will result in reduced costs of future work should any become necessary. I am a single woman & felt that this would be the most cost effective & prudent way to go for me. The work performed was excellent, they were prompt, courteous, & answered any questions I had. Plus they had a superior rating on Angie's List and, again, as a single woman, I have to be able to trust who's coming into my home. So even though I could have selected a less expensive service provider, I feel confident of the work Blue Mountain performed as well as the trustworthiness of the employees sent to perform the work. And that's worth the higher price to me. As they say, you get what you pay for.

We called them for an estimate. They made a point of coming out as quickly as they could and were here within a couple hours on a Thursday afternoon. The guy sat down with me, explained the entire estimate, including what had to be done and what was optional (and why he recommended it). He organized and arranged for the digging crew and his plumbing crew to meet at the same time on Monday. They got the work done very quickly and got our water back on. The estimate was very accurate and they were very professional. We were very happy with their work. I had called two other places for estimated and these guys were by far the most helpful and most professional.

The day before our entire family was due to arrive for Thanksgiving, we noticed there was a problem with our heat.? My neighbor has a service agreement with Blue Mountain and recommended them to me.? I called and was able to get a repair person scheduled the same day for late Tuesday afternoon.? The repairman found a problem with a part that lights the furnace and was able to make the repair.? My experience with Blue Mountain was very positive.? I printed a $20 off coupon (from their website) which I used.? I thought the price was fair and the competence and communication were outstanding.

Description of Work: We have a very complicated heating and cooling system which is able to use either the heat pump or natural gas for heating (hybrid heat). The system also has multiple zones with separate thermostats for each zone. When we turned on the heat a couple weeks ago, I noticed only the gas heat was working and then a couple days later all the thermostats went blank. Since then we have had three HVAC companies out to our house. The first company (a very well known and highly rated Harrisonburg HVAC company) that installed the system. After three separate attempts to fix the problem and each time waking up to a cold house in the morning, we thought it was time for a second opinion. The second company was completely overwhelmed by the complication of our system and finally bowed out (without charging us) after two hours of looking. Blue Mountain was the third company and they finally got it fixed. There were two simple but separate problems. The sensor which controls the switching of the heat types had somehow gone bad over the summer and was improperly bringing on the gas heat when the heat pump should be working. When the gas furnace was operating, the water produced by the furnace operation was backing up into the furnace and shutting the entire system down which would make the thermostats go blank. Blue Mountain identified and corrected both problems on their first visit and we have not had a problem since. As a bonus, they showed us our thermostats were wi-fi compatible and helped us get them set up on the internet so we can now monitor and control the system from our phones. We are very happy with the service from Blue Mountain and would hire them again in the future.

Absolutely, the best plumbers I've seen. Having worked a s a carpenter in my early years, so Ive seen a lot of plumbers. If you're in Central VA, call Blue Mountain. I've used other local plumbers, but ultimately, had Blue Mountain correct their work. These guys consistently leave the places they've worked clean, and really, really strive to get your future business and ensure you're satisfied. Re-post if you'd like a reference - sharp guys.

The technician was very responsible. He took time to try to get me the best deal (by combining services and billing things jointly and under different descriptions). He even patched holes left by previous service people -- at no extra charge. UPDATE: The tech has subsequently quit. He's the third tech that I've dealt with in three years to quit or be fired. Though I generally like the company, given their rate of attrition I'm going to try a family business, where the owner is the tech.

Customer service was excellent. The tech was knowledgeable and very curteous. Service response was above normal and actual work was completed within time frame we were given. The tech also provided additional information and service to help us meet code on the water heater installation. Prices seemed a little on the high side, but the service more than matched the charges. I also got a coupon off the website to save me money.

After calling multiple plumbers who were no-shows and going through much frustration, I called Blue Mountain. The technician showed up when he said he would. He reviewed my list of issues. He sat down with me and explained the costs. I approved the estimate and he actually started the work that same day. We then set a time for him to return to finish the work. He showed up on time, worked until it was completed and he let me ask him questions while he worked. I was able to understand what he had done and I had confidence in his work. Regarding price...he was the only plumber I could get to come and give me an estimate, so I don't know whether the price was good or not. I can, however, say that he brought his price book and showed me the different prices as he was writing the estimate. I am very satisfied with the work - and grateful that these plumbers actually showed up and kept their word. I would hire them again in the future.
Description of Work: Change out washer hoses and clean washing machine screens Move whole house shut-off valve Replace section of 3/4" galvanized pipe to cut out leak in basement Remove old wash tub and install new tub Install AAV on openstand pipe in basement Install new stops for washer supplies (Not exactly sure what those last 2 mean - just taking them directly off of the invoice detail. I know that, in installing the new tub, he put in new pipes. And I also ran new connections to the washing machine.)

In the beginning the employee and I agreed with what would happen in bath, ie the tub surround would have to be cracked, plumbing moved, etc. When he finished (to make a long story short) I was simply looking at the fixtures and where they were placed in regards to the tub, etc. I was aware that he left some debris in the tub, etc but I didn't really give it much thought. I wasn't looking for a crack in the tub and with the debris and brown smudges made with his dirty feet, I wouldn't have noticed anyway. When my husband came home, (after I had paid the worker and everything seemed fine), I told my husband he needed to clean out the tub because small bits of tile were in there and the worker had his shoes in there and the tub was all grubby and brown, etc. My husband said "there shouldn't be any tile in the tub-didn't he protect it?" and that's when the oh-oh moment came. I had both my preschoolers home that day, phone ringing, etc and I just didn't think about what the employee was doing. I had, after all, hired a "professional" company. My husband went upstairs and started to clean out the tub and sure enough we could feel little chips in the enamel but were shocked with a nice big gash, in our new custom tub that was deep enough to see the underlayment of the tub. We were way beyond the enamel being chipped. We called the company up, they said they would come look and left it at that. Next day, I was beyond mad, so upset and crying, here we were with a useless new tub, and I was told again they would come out. Third day same thing. Fourth day my husband got on the phone after being gone on a business trip and the owner said he had spoken to the employee and didn't feel like he needed to even come and look at the tub and they were not taking responsibility for it because I had signed the paper work. We told him we were stopping the check, which we did. We are now in court. This company did not care to even come and look at the damage. They were only concerned with getting paid.
