Description of Work: Called about a sagging Anderson Windows door in my home. I was given free advice on how to adjust it myself. Advice was dead on and saved me the cost of a service call. I respect a company that doesn't look to nickel and dime you at every opportunity. I will definitely use this company in the future if the need arises.
Donny came and listened to my ideas, provided me with contacts where I needed to shop and make choices. He worked with me along the way to make sure the final result matched my imagined outcome.Donny, his dad, and the crew were always prompt, courteous and personable. They did the work in the time frame agreed upon and communicated effectively. I appreciated knowing that the Walkers have been productive members of this community for decades and that maintaining an honorable reputation is important to them. The final result is structurally bombproof and really beautiful. I will definitely use their services again.Denise Geyer
Description of Work: Donny Walker and crew gave our house an extensive facelift, in addition to adding a deck and correcting a structural problem on another deck left by the original builder. The final result is structurally bombproof and really beautiful. They have also done individual projects like adding interior shelving, replacing exterior doors.

I have used their services several times in the last few years and for their work on significant projects. Their work has always been A+. I tust them. I know I am going to get a quality job at a reasonable rate. The sealing and insulation of the attic has made a significant difference on lowering our utility bills. We noticed a difference of how much cooler it was in our home within just a couple of days. They were phenomenal. I will contact them anytime we need services again for any kind of remodeling or large project.
Description of Work: They replaced an entire door system. They did an insulation upgrade to our attic. They also sealed the interior and exterior plates in our attic.

They were very careful to put in safeguards to prevent water leakage as well as avoiding the electrical wires. In spite of the electrical connections, they were able to bypass them and install the windows in the center of the walls where I wanted them. They also found that another electrical job I had done had a problem and I was able to get that fixed. I was grateful for that. They also came back to make some adjustments at a later time when I needed them. I thought the price was a little high but they brought 5 men and finished the whole thing in a few hours. I hired them because of their good reviews and the added recommendation of the company that made the windows. I am very satisfied with the job and my living and dining room look like new now with lots of light!
Description of Work: I had 2 windows installed in my living room and dining room that had no windows. They had to cut into the house walls and siding.

If you need anything else please call i am down near you twice a month working Thanks

The experience was excellent overall. I would recommend them to anybody! They were very responsive, showed when they said they'd show up, and did exactly what was asked of them to do. Their price was on the upper end, but the quality of the work was well worth the price. The crew was very well-mannered and professional, too!
Description of Work: We had a large barn on the property that partially collapsed due to a storm. They stabilized it and salvaged as much equipment out of the barn as they could. They helped with figuring out the cost and filing insurance. They also built a run-in garage for us by our home.

Overall, the experience was fantastic. They weren’t the cheapest, but the work was done right. I was working full-time, so I couldn’t be at the home while the work; he’d take a picture with his cell phone and email it to me so he could make sure it’s what I wanted. It was very easy to communicate with him. With the stain work, he would stop by to check on it since the work was done on a very hot day to make sure everything was okay. They were very nice to work with and I would definitely use them again if needed.

Donnie walker headed a talented crew that was notable for being on time organized on budget and productive excellent results. The attention to detail was amazing. Top flight
Description of Work: Walter and Clarke rebuilt our house from the inside-out following a major flood cause by our pipes busting. It included remediation re-drywalling walls from removal and installation, electrical work and paintings.
It went very well. There was never a question as to price or quality.
Description of Work: Walker & Clarke remodeled the country house I had purchased. The house and grounds were a mess. Some sheds simply had to be demolished because they were in such bad condition. More than 6 dumpsters of trash were removed from the property. They installed new hardiplank siding, installed a new bathroom, jupdated another bathroom, partitioned areas, removed partitions in other areas, pieced together a tile floor where partitions had been removed, installed shelves and moldings where necessary, updated the electrical wiring and installed a generator. They had very good subcontractos. The extensive remodeling was done expeditiously and within budget.

Great in every aspect!
Description of Work: We bought this home about 3 months ago with a basement exterior door that had a rotted out door frame. Donnie was prompt at responding to my request for an estimate, came out to measure the door and had to re-build an entire frame that would resist rotting, and moisture damage. He built a deeper frame, using cement screws all around and got us a new door that was exactly what we wanted. My husband and I were so impressed with his expertise and knowledge of what we needed. We have a lot more to do onour home and we won't hesitate at all with calling him again.

foundation repair

Description of Work: I had an issue with increasing dampness in my 30+ year old home in the lower level, and was having to empty the dehumidifier several times a day. I called Walker and Clarke after searching for foundation repair/basement waterproofing on Angie's List. Donnie Walker met with me to review the problem. He was prompt and professional, and provided an estimate within 24 hours. He and his crew dug out the side of my house, and discovered there was no drain tile nor had a drain been run out past the lower corner of the house, and the water problem was seepage through the chimney below grade which was not tarred. He emailed me pictures (as I was at work) showing the problems. He installed drain tiles with gravel, ran a pipe underground emptying into the backyard, wrapped the dug out portion of the house with a membrane. The shrubbery was replanted, yard seeded and covered with straw, and all rocks, roots and debris removed. All work was completed in one day. Both friendly and professional, I would recommend this company.
Donnie Walker was extremely responsive, provided estimate for all work, and was very accomodating when unexpected issues arose (hidden damage uncovered due to water leak and carpenter ant damage when wall removed). He reevaluated what it would take to fix and offered alternatives to keep the price down. He was also proactive in pointing out items that could be redone to prevent future issues and giving options on handling them. His team was very professional, showed up on time, did quality work, and completed work veyr quickly. They wasted no time in getting the job done. Donnie oversaw all aspects of the work and constantly monitored the progress. Pricing was very fair and completely explained on each item. He was also willing to provide several options on work to meet my budget concerns. Quality of the work was excellent. I would recommend him highly and will certainly use him again for my needs.
Description of Work: Work involved removing two load bearing walls, reframing, drywall, and paint. Remove and reinstall a pressure tank, valve, and water filter for the well. Clean up a variety of electrical issues from a previous remodeling job (prior to my acquiring the house), add insulation to the attic, repair and replace wood and drywall damaged by carpenter ants and a small roof leak, minor work on adding/replacing closet shelving, rods, shower rods, installing hardwood flooring, rehanging exterior doors that had wide gaps due to improper installation, adding new door kits to existing closet doors to accomodate function with new hardwood flooring (floor tracks were removed which made doors inoperable). Run new electrical lines to replace improper wiring for dryer circuit, heat pump, and radiant floor heating. Repair cracked pipe on washer drain and install tracking lighting in lower level. Also, roof repair, replace ridge vent, point up chimneys, replace missing roof shingle.

Thank you for the work and letting the floor crew work on the weekend.
Donnie did a professional, good-looking job. I've worked with him before, so I expected that. He went way beyond even my expectations in two ways: he worked hard to find ways to keep costs down, while keeping the bumpout within my HOA specs and meeting County regulations. He also met with inspectors to get the necessary approvals (he had to chase one inspector down, who was not an easy guy to reach--he was not answering my calls--but Donnie got that approval in time for the fireplace firm to install the logset). This job required a lot of coordination, and Donnie stayed in touch by text, email, and phone throughout, helping me to navigate the permit process and to work with the fireplace firm (I would not recommend them--they made the job harder every step of the way, with poor customer service and poor communication, so Donnie's working to get things straight with them was especially important). The problems with the fireplace firm threatened the deadline, and that was when Donnie really saved the day. He came early and stayed late, he made calls, he followed up: and when he left for his Christmas with his family, the job was done. (Check out the pictures!) Finally, he called me from the beach just before the 19th to ask if I needed anything else: "Even if it's not something my guys did, let me know if you need anything," his voicemail said. I called back to wish him a Merry Christmas. Donnie has something you really want in a contractor: he takes great pride in his work. There's no substitute for that as a motive for doing jobs promptly, correctly, completely. See? Done by Christmas! Christmas carols by the fire, because Donnie made the deadline!
Description of Work: Donnie Clarke and his firm (including his subcontractor Gabriel, who did the interior drywall and all the painting) made the bumpout on my living room so that a fireplace firm could install a gas fireplace. There had not been a fireplace in the house before, so he was starting from scratch. The job had several phases: knock a hole in the living room wall, frame up the box inside the house for the firebox the fireplace company was going to put in, according to safety specifications, frame out the bumpout, insulate it, make a shelter on the outside of the house for the propane tank (the propane firm installed that), pour concrete to give the bumpout a solid foundation, roof the bumpout with shingles, remove all the siding on that side of the house, put on Tyvek, replace the siding, paint the exterior bumpout, handle permits, repair the drywall on the interior and repaint the wall surrounding the new fireplace (that job, and one electric outlet which had to be moved, Donnie subcontracted). The best part? We were working on deadline: my kids were coming home from college for Christmas, and I wanted it all done by the 19th of December. Donnie himself was going on vacation the 13th.
Donnie Walker came out and discussed with us at length the goals of the project and then suggested an approach. He subsequently provided us with an estimate (which he never exceeded in spite of some complications discussed below) and we decided to proceed. He did the trenching and grading himself and coordinated with excellent subs to do the electricity and insulation. His guys showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. We encountered one unanticipated problem - the foundation of the garage was laid with 8" block, on top of which sat a 6" sill plate with the walls comprised of 2x4s. If we would have attached the plywood to the 2x4s as planned it would have resulted in the sill plate sticking out a bit and below that the block foundation protruding another 2" into the workout room. Since the plan was to have judo mats on the floor for part of the room, it would have created dangerous situation where someone could have struck the block foundation with their head or limb during practice. We discussed the issue with Donnie and he quickly came up with a solution - he ripped some 2x4s to extend the sill plate so that it was flush with the block foundation. He then roughed in another 2x4 wall next to the existing wall so that the plywood would be flush with the foundation. In spite of this difficulty, the final cost still remained at the estimated price. We are very happy with the work Walker and Clarke did and in particular with their willingness to work with us in terms of doing this project in stages over a couple of months.
Description of Work: We had Walker and Clarke build out two bays of our 4 car garage - one bay as a storage room the other as an exercise room. The job entailed digging a trench from the telephone pole to the garage to provide electrical service to the garage (it did not have electricity), installing an electricity meter box, 200 amp circuit box, and wiring the garage with outlets and lights. We also required some grading near the garage to address an issue with flooding. The job also entailed framing two divider walls between the bays, adding plywood to the walls and ceilings in both bays (with cut-outs for lighting and outlets) and insulating the walls of the exercise room bay. The storage room had standard florescent shop lights installed with recessed lights in the exercise room. Additionally we had a window and baseboards installed in the exercise room. Lastly, we had them install 3 doors - two of which were moved (new exterior door in the house's mudroom, old mudroom door to exterior of the garage and the old garage door between the workout bay and the storage bay).

For both projects, he came and measured the project and obtained a material quote from his suppliers as part of his estimate. He was very patient while I dithered over what color to order. Once I agreed to the price, he came and did the work in just a few days. Once he started, he worked until the job was finished. The crew worked very efficiently and took care about details and appearances. While they were here, they ended up doing a couple other small repairs. The deck looks great. I have worked with some other remodeling contractors and it seems like some are steady workers but sloppy about collateral damage, others do good work but are unreliable in attendance. Donnie Walker combines the best of both. He is neat in his work, cares about the results and is professional. He and his crew were all very personable.
Description of Work: They replaced my deck and back stairs (wooden). This was my second job with them. They also repaired my Anderson double hung windows earlier this year.
We were very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them. The estimates are detailed, Donnie Walker is easy to work with and obviously knows what he’s doing, he and his crew are prompt, courteous, hard-working and very skilled. All of their work and materials are high quality. Much of the work was done by Donnie and his father; they also often worked along with their crew and all work was closely supervised. We were particularly pleased at how well the front stoop turned out, and especially happy with the porch and deck renovation, which also included structural improvements. We highly recommend this company. Barbara and Destry Jarvis Hamilton, VA
Description of Work: Walker and Clarke recently did several repairs and renovations for us: Replaced and repaired several windows Repaired exterior trim, caulked windows, painted Rebuilt front stoop Renovated back porch and adjoining open deck Repaired and made structural improvements to the stable I nsulated under siding
I closed on my house in June, moved in in July, and discovered almost at once that, despite the inspections, my house had a dirty secret: termites, and damage to the studs over an area several feet wide, clear from the baseboards to the ceiling joists and attic space. The bugs and the damage they had done had been hidden by wallpaper. I found Walker and Clarke in a Loudoun newspaper, and their ad said they handled storm damage, so I called for an estimate. I knew I needed someone who could repair a load-bearing wall in an occupied house--not an easy job. Donnie was on vacation, but he called me back the day I left a message for him, saying that I had discovered termites and damage in a wall. He came to evaluate the mess, and gave me good advice about solving the problem. His solid knowledge of every aspect of house construction calmed me down when I was very worried about my new house and the serious problems I had discovered. Donnie wanted to find the source of the moisture that attracted the termites, and his exploration found what 2 inspectors and a termite "expert" had missed: there was a cellar beneath the walk-out basement, with an earth floor, severe damp issues, and termites moving freely from the ground to the rear wall of the house. It was a mess, and Donnie found it, so I could address it. No one else even knew it was there. Donnie's confident and knowledgeable approach was very reassuring. He explained what he could do, offered cellar-waterproofing options to help me keep costs under control, and made it his business to examine the house to be sure that the damage was all found and handled effectively. Donnie's professionalism sets the standard for other contractors. When he says he will call, he does. When he says he will show up, he does, and so do his work crews: this morning the last crew to arrive came at 7:58 AM. They were due at 8. Pleasant guys, too, all of them. They showed a lot of respect for my carpets, and cleared up after themselves efficiently! I'll be honest: I'd rather not have had termites and a wet cellar in the house I just bought. But Walker and Clarke brought competence, professionalism, and a pleasant, can-do attitude to my situation, so that I didn't add a contractor nightmare to my worries. I'd hire them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Donnie and his crews tore out drywall and insulation to evaluate termite damage; uncovered a concealed cellar which had serious damp issues; removed trash and demolition debris from the cellar; closed off open wiring in the cellar; put in a French drain system and vapor barrier to control moisture in the cellar; and repaired damage to studs and ceiling joists on the main level. They replaced the termite-wrecked drywall and plywood sheathing, replaced the slider to the deck, removed a deckboard and siding to expose further termite damage, and replaced the siding when the work was done. It was a big job, requiring a variety of skills.
