AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SCAM ARTISTS CHARGING $600 FOR A $2 REPAIR. My home warranty insurer sent All-Star Appliance Services to my house to service my furnace, which was performing poorly. The tech accepted our $100 deductible, looked at the furnace, and said that we needed coil cleaning, which wasn't covered by our home warranty insurance. The owner of the company estimated that it would require: * Another round of diagnostics using a scope ($100) * Coil cleaning ($250) * Cutting a hole in the side of our furnace to install a panel for future service ($150) Altogether, $500 - on top of the $100 we'd already paid. I called a tech from another company, who came out and fixed the problem in five minutes for $2.00 in parts. We'd been using the wrong furnace filter. The coils were fine, and the $2.00 repair cost completely fixed our problem. I asked the second tech why All-Star hadn't caught that and wanted to charge us $600. "No idea. The furnace filter is ALWAYS the first thing you check because lots of customers make that mistake." I don't know whether All-Star Services is grossly incompetent or committing outright fraud... but in my case, it certainly looks like those are the two options.

If I could give give zero stars I would. Our AC went out two weeks ago so we contacted our home Warrenty company and All Star was assigned the job. They told us to make sure the unit was off for a day so any ice could melt. We were late coming home that day so we turned the unit off 17 hours prior to the appointment. Alex showed up the next day (Friday) and did his best to trouble shoot the problem except there was ice still encasing the unit. He shut off the unit at the breaker (funny because I turned it off at the thermostat), and asked me to send a photo once the ice had cleared. sent the photo as requested and then called on Monday. They said they received the photo and they would start the claim process. On Wednesday checked and no claim. Someone would call me. On Thursday, spoke to the owner, John, who was confused why this repair job was sitting idle, but said the next day he would personally come out and figure out the problem. Said he would call later that day with a time. John never called back. Called the next morning only to be told John was not coming out and they had cancelled our job sending it back to the warrenty company. They told the warrenty company were were difficult because there was ice on the unit and we did not turn it off as instructed. We lost a week in hot weather. Claim was reassigned. Took the new technician an hour to determine that a bad capacitor was preventing the switch from turning off the unit and that there was a leak in the coil. We had turned off the unit as we were told to do. The capacitor prevented the unit from stopping. All Star did not take the time to diagnose the problem and then did not come back out when they promised to do so. We have not had AC for a over a week and we have a 76 year old woman living with us and it is 98 degrees in the house. John still will not return my calls to explain why they would not come back out as promised so I have no choice but to try and warn others about their horrible business.

My Warranty company sent All-star HVAC for diagnosis and assessment. The assessment was so unfair that it doesn’t make any sense. My warranty company said that as per the All-star HVAC report some one manually drill the hole to the suction pipe and insurance doesn’t cover these kind of “misuse” or “abuse”. I end up calling other technician they showed me the reason for the hole, and it’s due to the electrical wire damage/expose that rapture the copper suction pipe and created the vertical kind of hole. I’m very disappointed on this company for these kinds of unfair reports.

I'd give them an A all the way down. They were pretty quick. Within a week after we called, they came and then they ordered some parts and they came back, so the whole thing took about a week total. They left the area very clean.
Description of Work: I use All-Star Appliance Service. When they last came out, they were servicing our in-house humidifier and they replaced the filter and some tubing.

My experience with AllStar was just AWESOME. My AC decided to quit working on a 98 degree day. I called AllStar because they were recommended to me by my daughter who has been using them for years. They were very busy with the temperature as high as it had been, but they kindly squeezed me in for the following day. The owner John came out first thing in the morning. What a nice man, courteous and professional. He ran all the necessary tests and gave me a couple of options. I knew my unit was old and didn?t have much life left in it, so I totally understood when he recommended we replace it. He gave me a few options and we chose the one that fit our budget. He then proceeded to get the old unit going for no charge at all, (who does that these days!!), and arranged to have the unit replaced the following business day. First thing Monday morning the new unit arrived and Greg the Technician and his helper. Greg was also wonderful; it was a rainy day and they tarped all my floors and was sure to not track any water in the house. They worked for hours installing the new unit, they leveled the ground put a new pad, thermostat and new air handler in the attic. John showed up later and gave us again, free of charge a case of filters valued at $100.00. I can?t say enough wonderful things about John and his team, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALLSTAR.

We had them come out for a maintenance issue right after we purchased the home, so I thought I would give them a try. John came the first time and repaired the maintenance issue quickly and reasonable priced. John also came this time and we discussed replacing a 13 year old builder grade heating and cooling system. He was very polite, professional, and not pushy at all. I worked in the HVAC business in the past so I know how guys in this industry can up-sell unwitting customers. The installation process was very smooth. All Star is a top notch company. It took them one day to install the system. They did suggested they come back in the fall to start up the furnace, since it was so hot that day, and we had kids sleeping upstairs. I thought that was great of them to suggest, because there is an oil burning smell once you start up furnace for the first time. All and All, All-Star is a great company.

Great customer service communication from the time of initial call to schedule the service to be performed. They called me back promptly and were very nice at accommodating my crazy work schedule. Scheduled my service quickly and showed up spot on time. Office manager/scheduler even called to confirm and follow-up. She allowed me to reschedule from a morning apt to an afternoon one so I could attend a friends' funeral; now that's great customer service! They acknowledged and approved my home warranty deductible for the repair needed. Turns out the disposal was truly ammed, and the repairman showed me what to use in case it ever happens again. He was very punctual and polite, but most of all patient with my not knowing what to do. He fixed it quickly, efficiently and offered advice. I greatly appreciate his clear articulation, friendliness and leaving the company's calling card for services again. I plan to call them to take advantage of their year round HVAC service contract.

They were recommended by our home warranty company. Another company had told me I needed a whole new system and this company was able to save them and save me $8,000. They were great about scheduling and coming out to my home. The results are excellent.
Description of Work: They did regular routine maintenance and tune up on our two furnace systems. We have used them in the past.

Description of Work: Technician identified that the heating element and in the stove was probably malfunctioning. Needed to take element to his office and run diagnostics. Called later same day and determined it was the element that it was no longer available for replacement due to age. We decided to purchase a new oven.

Dryer stopped working on June 3rd, 20111. Call was left on the answering machine on 6/ 5/11. Call was returned on 6/6/11. Appointment scheduled for dryer to be looked and evaluated. The fees were discussed when appointment was made. The owner of the company was the person who came out to look at the dryer. He assessed the problem and made recommendations. Parts were ordered and I received a discount. When the parts came in the dryer was repaired. Work is guaranty for two years.
Description of Work: Motor, drum kit and belts replaced. Vent hose cleaned out.

The service was very good, the technician very efficient, professional and polite. I found the experience painless and will recommend this service to all my friends and will use them again for appliances in need of repair at work.
Description of Work: We are a business establishment with an icemaker that suddenly gave up on us. We called the service and they sent their technician within 24 hours. The technician came on time. He checked the machine, discovered it needed a new part, ordered the spare part, came with it the next day and fixed it!

He has a website with several other different types of contractors. John Baker was the contact person. I trusted him and they were good. That is why I keep calling him back. Whenever I have a problem I call them first. He was very professional and I would use them in the future.
Description of Work: We used All-Star Appliance Service to put in a new air conditioning and furnace system. It was a compressor outside and a gas furnace in the attic. He had serviced it previously and done the annual inspections for both units. I've also used him a couple of times for appliance repair.

John called me after I submitted an online inquiry and stated that he'd be in the area the very next day. We set up a timeframe from 11-1. He was a little late, close to 2 p.m., which conflicted with a work call that occurred at 1:30. However, since I was having other work done I would have been home anyway. John diagnosed the previous disposer as broken and informed me that because the sink and piping was so old, was unsure if it would fit with piping or would require additional plumbing. Fortunately, everything fit. John was thorough, checking for leaks, testing the washer and even helping with the air vent that can now be used for soap. John was very nice, professional, thorough and appears to have done a stellar job. As mentioned, he did arrive after the 11-1 timeframe, but he did call to inform me that he was on his way. I'd probably go in the A-/B+ range if one existed since and "A" should be an "A." However, since I was not inconvenienced and this did not cost me more, I believe it's closer to an A. I'd highly recommend All-Star and may use them again in the future.

They are very professional and the quality of work is very good. Their prices are very competitive. They were very punctual and responsive. They were very helpful and even undertook the installation on a Saturday. I will continue using their services and have even recommended them to several neighbors.

I called All Star as a result of a personal referral. I made a phone call and within 30 minutes received return call from Mr. Baker. He came to my home within two hours and had my dryer working nicely thereafter.
Description of Work: My clothes dryer was not working properly. A part needed to be replaced. The job was completed and my dryer was in working order in a short period of time. Cleaning of lint and other debris from the inside of the appliance was also performed.
