He came out to inspect the site over a week ago and let me know he would send me an email with the estimate that week. I haven't heard anything from him in over a week and I keep getting his voicemail when I try to call. I have other jobs I need completed around the home, I can not sit around and wait for him to reply so I will need to get the repairs done with another contractor. I have found another contractor offering me a veteran discount and he has already helped me with an electrical problem within the home.
Description of Work: I tried to hire him for small repairs around my home that were designated by the Home Owner's Association.

I bought the big deal on Angies list. Mark Wolak contacted me the same day and came out to inspect the exterior wood trim and soffits. A couple days later, one of his guys came out and replaced the rotted wood. He did a great job, was friendly and professional. I will be contacting Mark again for a few other projects I have to do around the house.

It took a very long time for the service provider to start. We had a lot of communication issues. Once he started, it was really confusing as to what work was being done and by whom. We purchased the remodeling “Big Deal” for our house in VA occupied by my daughter. I explained to Mark, the head of the company, that we are putting the house on the market and that he would have to coordinate his start date with my daughter. I paid for the deal in November, but they just started the work last week. There was a lot of back and forth about the start date. I sent him several emails and at one point wrote to him to say that if it wasn’t going to work with his schedule that we could just get a refund. He wrote back that he would start soon. Weeks later when he still didn’t start work, I reached out to him again to remind him of my time line (putting the house on the market). He assured that he would be starting in the coming weeks. He had mentioned that we would need to buy certain materials. He provided a handwritten list of what we would need to purchase, which we did. I had asked him on several occasions if he could provide measurement for the replacement vanity and he always replied that he would but he never did. I finally sent him an email to inform him that we were going to KEEP the vanity since he never provided the measurement. Because we aren't local and my daughter works during the day, I asked Mark if he would be able to pick up the materials and he said there would be no problem. Now that work is being done, the workers, not Mark, are saying that the items we purchased aren't the right ones. Mark isn't around through this. After day one – demo day, I called Mark to ask him about my daughter’s personal items that were broken during the process and the fact that urine was on, in, and around the toilet in the guest bathroom. We asked him to instruct the workers to not use the bathroom in the future. Mark denied that he or his workers broke any items. He said that he was there with them and he cleaned up before they left. If there was something broken, he would have seen it. Two days later, one of the workers told my daughter that he had indeed, broken it. During the conversation with Mark on day one, Mark provided a recap of the work done that day – which include the removal of the vanity. I reminded him that the vanity should not have been removed. He claimed that he did not receive the email. That evening I RE-SENT the email to him and he did not respond. I also asked Mark for a rendering of some sort so I could see how the final project will look and he said he would email that to me. He has not. There was a contractor there yesterday, who installed the shower basin. Apparently there was some issue with the building of a supporting wall for the shower. There was a heated discussion between the contractor and Mark that my daughter overheard. It seems the design was incompatible with the structure of the room. After the call, the contractor had to deviate from the initial design. I presumed I would get a call from Mark concerning this, instead I spoke to my daughter on speaker with the contractor. Mark hasn't called or responded. Today, day three - the workers there told us that the shower basin installed the day before isn't the correct basin for the shower we are having built. The workers today had to uninstall the basin, go to the store, purchase another basin and install it. Because ordering a basin the same size will take several weeks, they are installing one that is 2 inches smaller but they assured us that it won’t make a difference. My daughter asked if we would get a refund for the returned basin, and they said that they would have to talk to Mark. We have no way of knowing if this job is being done by qualified licensed contractors. We are not even sure if the labor is being properly supervised because Mark is never there and there is no feedback or explanation of changes or issues. Everyday my daughter is opening her home to strange men who may or may not be part of this project. Mark does not call, text, email or communicate who or what work will be done on any given day. There is an issue of a lack of trust, reliability, expertise and professionalism.

Dear member We have tried to accommodate your project as well as we could, having in mind I have informed you our main tile installer have left due to family emergency and we were behind our schedule. Contact with your daughter has been really difficult as she does not answer phone calls(I understand she has limited access to her phone at work) and does not return text messages which makes the whole project very difficult. We had a discussion about the shower base you have purchased which people at Lowes did not inform you it was to be installed with surround walls not ceramic tiles, and our installer discussed options with your daughter as we can not make those decisions. We have tried our best to work with you on the project but there is a confusion who makes decisions and who we should contact and how. Please let us know how we can improve our communication as we always do quality work which is reflected in our reviews. thank you

One of the best contractors we have ever dealt with. On the first phone call I left a message and got a call back within 10 minutes and every time we called thru the entire project - that was the case. Unheard of in this day and age. Mark is the real deal. He listens to you and understands what you want and HE is not satisfied until you get it. The project was slated for 4 to 6 weeks. It did take extra time, but this was a high end kitchen with a LOT of custom touches (ie: added cabinets/redesigned and enlarged pantry closet, removed desk and added more cabinets, new center island, all new floor and bathroom tiles, relocated fridge and added oven, all LED lighting, removed tub and converted to tiled shower, reworked plumbing, etc etc etc) The job was completed in 8 weeks. This was very understandable. Mark's employees are very conscientious and thoughtful regarding what the customer wants and they are also some of the best people you will ever meet. Wolak Interiors does not do new construction - only remodeling - so keep that in mind. But if you are looking for this kind of work, weather kitchen, bathroom or other - you are talking about the best in the business when you call this company. We will be calling them back in a year or two to do our master bath and closet/laundry room rework.

They painted two bedrooms and a bathroom. They were a number of things they didn’t do well. My husband caught half of them goofing off doing nothing while the others were working. They didn’t put the switch plates back on and we couldn’t find the all screws. They did get the wallpaper off, but our normal painter had to come after them and paint some patches that weren’t painted correctly.

Josh came thru on time and worked past the time listed on the Coupon we purchased. We need some small holes patched before our home was painted, and Josh went above and beyond what was needed. He fixed a falling ceiling that I didn't even notice and repaired a light fixture. I plan on having them come back and complete a closet wall for me.

The price of the bathroom overhaul ($5150.00) was for labor only. The cost of material was $2634.00. The combined cost of project totaled $7784.00. As Mark and his team had performed another difficult project a year before, I contacted them for the quality of work they performed. I needed a quality product, completed on weekends (so I did not miss any work), at a good price. Mark was able to meet all my demands and fixed some unforeseen problems at a reasonable cost. He is easy to work with, his team takes pride in their work, and they cleaned up before they left every day. The total time was about 15 days, spread across weekends. I am very pleased with Mark's work and have other projects planned am requesting a bid on. Bottom line is that his flexibility (working weekends) saved me money and peace of mind. Flexibility, quality and a good price is why I hired him and will call him first for a bid on every home project in the future.
Description of Work: Complete overhaul of bathroom. New stone tiled shower (included built in vanity space in shower), tiled floor and wall, new vanity with large mirror with storage space, added electrical plug, new vent, new lighting, fixed some water damaged flooring, replaced toilet, put up minor bathroom fixtures, fixed bathroom vent to outside house, painted bathroom.

I saw the offer on Angie's List, could use the service and purchased it. After some time the company sent a message through Angie's List that they meant to pull the ad, that they no longer did kitchen remodel plans but would do the bathroom remodel plan if I wanted them to. (They had my contact information). I told them that yes, I still wanted the service. I didn't hear back from them, I placed two phone calls but neither was returned. I wouldn't want to work with any company that was unresponsive as that is an indication of their competence.

Things got off to a bit of a slow start because Mark knew the quality of the material he was working with (Italian marble) and wanted the installer to be able to work the job everyday. Once Mark and I were on the same page (I didn't mind if the start date slipped a bit but I wanted the installer working on my conversion every day once work began) things exceeded even my expectations. Ricardo came day one and demolished the existing tub/shower. The floor was not to be damaged because it was not being replaced. He completed the demo in one day, no peripheral damage, the bathroom was left clean and all material from the demolition was removed to a prearranged dumpster in my driveway. I was totally satisfied. Mark brought in Val to do the tile installation. Val was a true craftsman and he constantly kept me updated when he would be on site. He usually arrived everyday between 830-9 am-I requested no work begin before 9 am-he worked on my shower everyday and put in a full days work everyday. He was meticulous in every detail of the installation. He always consulted me concerning the shower design and provided input that made a really great product even better. What's not to like about Wolak Interiors-competent workers who do a great job, leave your house in good shape, finish the job on time and do this all at a fair price. After the tile was in place and the final payment made to Wolak Interiors, I discovered that the grout film on the marble was not going to come off with soap and water. I contacted Mark Wolak and informed him that I had $5000 worth of marble that now didn't shine. Mark Wolak called in the installer and then a restoration expert and the marble was restored to its original shine-quickly. Again I'm totally satisfied and impressed with the way Wolak Interiors stands behind its work

Outstanding job by Wolak Interiors. Mark (owner) came out for the estimate very soon after I called him. He listened to what we wanted done and gave us suggestions for the remodel and options that we could consider. He came back promptly with an estimate for the job which listed in detail the tasks to be completed. Before we finalized, he answered several of my e-mail questions in detail to ensure I understood what was to be done and ensured all my concerns were addressed. We had two other estimates by contractors that we did not use. Mark was the most responsive and provided the best price and value for what we wanted done. After the demo (that went smoothly), Chris arrived and completed the remodel. The tile work that Chris completed was excellent. He is very skilled. He consulted with us on the layout of specific areas in the shower and on the floor. The tiling and grout work looks incredible. He also installed all our new brushed nickel plumbing fixtures, baseboards and door thresholds. Chris let us know when he would arrive each day and ensured we were satisfied with the work as it progressed. Mark and Chris were a great team to work with.
Description of Work: Remodeled large portion of master bathroom to include demo of floor, tub surround, and shower area down to studs. Installed new bed in shower floor and new durock in shower and on floor. Retiled shower, floor, and tub surround. Installed new plumbing bath fixtures in shower and in tub. Installed new baseboards and door thresholds. Completed touch up painting needed.

It took over a month from purchase of "coupon" to get the work scheduled and completed. I believe the contractor had other much larger jobs and wouldn't put my small job on the schedule. He just finally, after 3 or 4 phone calls, added my job on to the end of one of his carpenters workday. The workman was very professional.

It took the owner weeks to get back to us. The young man arrived on time. He was courteous and cleaned up after he finished. He worked all day, but we felt it took him longer than someone who was really experienced in crown molding, leading to an additional $110. charge. Overall, he did a good job given the number of angles in our bathroom. We provided the molding, completed the caulking, and covered the nail heads to avoid additional charges. This job required someone who was really good with crown molding. I'm not sure if we would use him again, only because of the additional charges and time it took him to complete the job. The quality was fine.

Where do I start. After mark came out in June, he had said that the Job could be done in 2-3 weeks. He started the Job 3 weeks later on July 3rd. They worked on demolition of the bathroom. He said they would return on Monday, July 7th. They did not return until Wednesday July 9th. During the demolition of the bathroom, as they were removing the floor to level it (the floor is still not level) a water pipe was cut causing a flood of water all through the second floor into my first floor living room. They ended up cutting my nice plaster ceiling to replace it with sheet rock. It looks ok, but not like the original. I should have fired them right there, but I saw them clean up and I though they could fix it. The crew would show up anywhere from 8:30 to 10:30 and leave from 3 to 4:30 PM. Another reviewer stated that if you left anything out, it was like you gave them permission to use it. That is true. They used my step stool, and broke it. They used all of my paper towels, they even used some sheet rock compound that I had placed in a closet. I think they used close to $100 worth of my items. The kitchen was another problem, with broken and scratched marble tiles. It was only because I said something did they replace them. My Lazy Susan cabinet was cracked on installation, and I had to repair them myself. They installed the floor, and did not grout it until 3 weeks later. It was awful. The molding in the kitchen was not finished. I finished it myself. I was left with plaster to fill a hole between molding and the wall. I just wanted them to finish the big things so that I could get them out of here. My wife was tired of not having a finished house, and them here working. They did not respect my house. They used my furniture to work benches to store their tools. They never cleaned up after themselves. I spent a lot of time cleaning up after them. Finally 6 weeks later, done. It was the remodel from h***, and it still came out average. They did an average job, that is why they get a C, barely. I think my house was better before they started. I have new cabinets, but all of the damage that was caused, was not worth it. I recently looked over some other work. The grout in the bathroom is terrible. It is starting to crack. I will hire someone else to fix it. The floor in the kitchen still has some horrible scratches. The finishing on my cabinet is not finished, it still has nail holes. I will have to redo a lot of the work. It was terrible.

First of all, the plaster repairman arrived on time. After I explained to him what needed to be done, he outlined the work to be performed and provided a time estimate. He was careful to completely cover an adjacent shelving unit and a portion of the floor with plastic tarp and masking tape. The work was top notch since I didn’t expect him to double plaster the wall with a base grade of plaster then with a finishing grade to match the rest of the wall. It’s now several months later and the plaster has not shrunk and still looks as good as on the day it was repaired. I would use this vendor again.
