I found Wolack Interiors through the big deal that Angie's List provides. After my initial purchase I had some problems getting in touch with Mark at first over the phone. For some reason, I was unable dial his number from mine, but thanks to the multiple ways of communication, I was able to reach him via e-mail. He was very prompt in coming by and reviewing the work I wanted him to complete and getting back to me with my estimate. Mark was great at maintinaing contact prior to the start date and very responsive to questions. When the work did begin, they finished everything right on time and did a great job in all the projects. I was extremely pleased with their quality of work, professionalism and responsivesness. This is truly a great company that conducts work at a very reasonable prices. Most of all they are trustworthy and I would recommend them to anyone I know.
Description of Work: We had several small projects throughout the house that we needed taken care of, but just haven't had the time. Mark was able to come and review everything a give an estimate on the work. This work included: Repairing cracks in the walls and ceilings; painting walls and ceilings; constructing a new false wall under the kitchen sink; carpentry work around the tile in front of our fire place; filling in gaps between our wall and floor; removing wallpaper and repainting the kitchen; and repairing textured ceilings and repainting them.

From the beggining Mark was very quick with responding to emails and phone calls. He was very cooperative with scheduling a time to start the project and end the project. He came over and did a quote for free. His quote ended up being right on, no more, no less. He came over the first day, with his employee and went over everything that needed to be done. I had already did the destruction part of the project, so he was to do the construction part. This involved, building a wooden frame for an in-set shelf about 2 ft wide by 1 ft tall by 6 in deep, then building a wooden frame for a bench about 5 ft wide by 1.5 ft deep by 6 in tall, then installing them to the wall studs. He then had to frame in a curb for the shower base and then pour in a concret shower bed. After, he had to hang the cement boards for the tile. Then he tiled in the whole shower; floors, walls from floor to ceiling, bench and shelf, then grouted them. Overall he did a great job. The only complaint that I might have is the clean up. He could have done a little better job when cleaning up the bathroom afterward. He cleaned up most of the stuff, there weas just some debri and dust left from the project after he was done. However, I was glad that he spend the time to lay down some paper from the bathroom to the door to protect my wooden floors, while he was working, and having to go in and out of the house. I would definately use this company again for another project.

I asked Mark to install a new back door to my patio. I suspected wood rot in the sill of the door. After I purchased the door at Lowe's (on Battlefield Blvd.), Mark offered to pick the door up for me on the way to my house. When he arrived at Lowe's, they had already given the door (I paid for) to someone else. Mark was kind enough to trek across town to another Lowe's to pick up another door. Not once did he complain! (You can bet I did! Lowe's heard from me). Also, as of yet, Mark hasn't charged me for the extra time he took to get the door. Chris, his handyman, did a great job on the install of the door and cleaned up, was very respectful of my time, and was very neat. I appreciated working with Mark and will give his name to others.
Description of Work: I suspected wood rot in the sill of the door. He installed a new back door. There was no wood rot but he replaced the door anyway.

I had them repair my bathroom walls due to water damage. The scope of work was to replace all damaged wall studs, insulate, and sheet rock the removed portions of the wall for bathroom ready for tile and tub, etc. The estimated time and price was fine, but the individual sent to complete the work had little to no experience. The following is a brief list of the major issues we had with him. a. left toilet and shower drainage pipes open without telling us, so we shouldn?t have used the toilets and showers, but were not warned, so our laundry room flooded significantly. The owner refused to send someone out to fix it that night. I had to rush to home depot to seal up the drains myself at 8:30 pm so we could use water in the house. b. Used his saw in the house and had dust everywhere, by the time I figured out he was doing it the upstairs was a dust bowl c. Broke the drainage connection for the toilet. By the time I figured it out he was gone for the day, my laundry room was flooded again and I ran to home depot again so we could use the water in the house. d. Broke the drain system in the other bathroom on the same floor, connected by the same drain line, and said he never touched it, so I repaired it myself e. When he removed the toilet he never drained the water from it and it leaked all over the carpet.f. Left major scratches on the hallway walls, sink cabinet doors, and the tub. g. Left all trash and debris in my front yard every day and I ended up taking it to the dump when I had become fed up with his work.

This work was performed as part of an Angie's List Big Deal for up to 8 hours of paining for about half the usual price. Wolack Interiors has performed work for me previously, so I was very happy to see the Big Deal offer. Mark and his team are very easy to work with, and a last minute change in what I wanted done did not phase them in the least. The painter showed up about 15 minutes early and was finished, and completely cleaned up, on time. The work was performed flawlessly and cheerfully. When the paint had dried, the areas that had been touched up matched the rest of the ceiling perfectly. As with my previous experience with this firm, I found the work to be highly professional, extremely well done and Mark and his employees very pleasant to work with. I definitely plan to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Wolack Interiors painted over water stains in the ceilings of three rooms of my house, about 30 - 40 square feet in total. My house has ten foot ceilings and the water stains were caused by leaks during tropical storm Sandy. The painter applied Kilz to cover the stains and prevent bleed through, and the applied a flat ceiling paint to match the existing paint. After completing this, he had some time left over, so I had him trim the bottom of the door to my pantry in order to clear a new scatter rug that had been added recently.

My house was built in 1897, and something is always in need of repair. I have used Wolak Interiors for other work on the house and, as with this job, their work always was highly professional, completed on time, and of the highest quality. I was originally only planning on having a single broken tile replaced in the fireplace hearth, but when I couldn't locate anything that matched the style and size of the original tile (those tiles are no longer manufactured), I decided to replace the whole hearth. Mark was easy to schedule, and was not at all concerned when I called him to inform him the job had grown. His tiler arrived early, and was very pleasant and easy to work with. He listened to what I wanted to achieve, made some suggestions to improve the appearance of the finished product, and immediately started work. Other than taking a few minutes to discuss the work when Mark came by to inspect the job, the tiler worked straight through until everything was finished (about six hours). He did a good job of cleaning up before he departed. After the job was done, my wife and I were extremely pleased with the appearance of the new hearth. This is the first time that I used Wolak Interiors for a tile job but I definitely will use them in the future for other work of this sort.
Description of Work: Wolak Interiors removed broken tiles from the fireplace hearth in my Master Bedroom and replaced them with new tiles that I had purchsed for the job. In all, about 10 square feet of tiles were replaced.

Mr. Wolak arrived on time for the estimate and was punctual about getting back to me when I called. He had 2 of his employees do the actual installation. One of the employees did a lot of cutting of the tile in the driveway and got a lot of dust in the house due to wind blowing it into the front door when it was left open. I had to remind him to keep the door closed when he was cutting the tile.
Description of Work: They removed the linoleum tile from the kitchen and two bathrooms and replaced it with ceramic tile. They also removed slate from the entryway and installed ceramic tile there as well as in the closet. They finished (sanded and caulked the holes in the wall around one area in the kitchen where the old countertop was removed after we had a new countertop installed. They hauled away the old linoleum. Finally, they installed two mirrors in both bathrooms.

Overall, I am happy with what was done.
Description of Work: The carpenter Tony is very good , thorough and knows what he is doing. Another carpenter was out one day and alot of his work had to be redone. Repairs to my deck were done well and wallpaper removal was done with minimum mess. Mark Wolack is responsive and wants customers to be happy with the work. The only downside was when materials were needed, time for the job was docked to get the materials so you are paying full price for pickup. While I understand people have to get paid by the hour, it is discouraging to have to pay full price for trips to Lowe's.

Owner came out to survey job. Told me that it would take 3 days. The coupon was for one day - but he offered me the same rate as the Angie's list deal for all three days. Had me provide the primer to do the walls after the wallpaper was removed. Fixed the areas where drywall was dinged up and where old sink counter did not match new one. Job took all three days. Worker always showed up early and waited for 0800 to knock. Worked all day with only short break. Did a good job. Had I had the chance to do over again - i would have had them paint the rooms while they were here and had everything taped, covered and prepped.

Overall it was a decent job. When they arrived they said I didn't have enough paint and I had to out to get more. When I pointed out the paint for the molding, Mr. Wolack replied they don't do molding (I don't remember if it was a package stipulation or not). They used old drop clothes and left speckles of paint stuck to my hardwood floors. Did they get the job done? Yes. Does it look good? Depends on how close you look, brief glance or slight studying of it, it looks good. However, I will not use this company again.

Well Jonathan arrived on October 16, 2012 as arranged to remove wall paper from part of kitchen walls which had not previously been removed. Of course, he did not finish. I had arranged for painting to take place on October 18 & 19th & arranged my schedule accordingly. Received a call from Mark telling me that we would have to reschedule to the next week since he had another job to do. The morning of October 25th I receive a call from Mark that Jonathan will be late because he needed to do another job first. He was suppose to have arrived at 8:30 am. Before they could start, Jonathan needed to clean his brushes from previous job. He and another worker arrived at 11 am & painted the ceiling in family room & 2 coats of paint on family room walls & left. Jonathan was to arrive at 8:30 the next day. Of course , I got a call from Mark saying he would arrive later after he finished another job. Jonathan arrived at 10am & continued to remove wall paper from kitchen walls. Of course , he did get the wall prepped for painting . He returned the next day on time & completed prep work. I decided to not have this company continue with painting. It is indeed frustrating to arrange your schedule for work to be done & get shoved around. My business was not important to them. Jonathan does amazing work which I am pleased with. This reminds me why i don't pay by the hour. Smoke breaks & cell phone calls interrupted his work.

Dear Member. I am dissapointed to read such a review, especially that Anthony and Joe were the ones working at your house and everything went according to schedule. We did not reschedule any part of the project and guys finished it within specified timeframe. The only concern that you had mentioned to me was too long lunch break that they took. The first time I made the appt they didn't show up and when I called he was sick.( that's why it took him a week to get back to me after they didn't show up) then we rescheduled and he was very busy and that he couldn't get it done. Then I was told it would be 3 to 4 weeks if not longer after I was told It would be done before thanksgiving with no problem( I had family coming in and he let me know this 1 1/2 weeks before that date). So I had to scramble to find someone else. So I demanded my money back

Mark was very responsive to my calls. I was skeptical that $200 for eight hours work would result in a quality job. I was happily proved wrong. I was delighted to ask them to finish the wallpaper removal and to complete the painting. Anthony Eller was close to an artisan when he worked the walls and ceilings.
Description of Work: Wolak Interiors sent Anthony Eller to do wallpaper removal for eight hours. It wound up taking about twelve hours (I was not surprised) plus a few more to finish the painting which I had not originally contracted. I wanted to see what kind of work they would do with the wallpaper removal before I decided if I wanted them to do the painting. Anthony Eller's work was near perfection, greatly exceeding what I thought could be accomplished with the ceilings and walls. He was very detail oriented, kept his tools and workspace tight and well organized, and was always attentive to our needs. Respectful and pleasant. Wolak Interiors is a keeper! Thanks Angie's List!

I contacted Wolak because I wanted them to paint 2 rooms in a house we were purchasing. I wanted the work done within the first couple of days of our closing on the house. I called to schedule this a few weeks in advance. Good thing, because it took a couple of days to get my calls returned. Then Hurrican Sandy paid us a visit and postponed our closing by 1-1/2 days. That messed up the whole schedule. We were able to work out a new one that was satisfactory to us and Wolak. The painter arrived about 30 minutes late. He called me from the wrong address further down our street. He was wondering why I wasnt answering the door. He got lost coming here (we are on the Peninsula, he lives on the Southside) and then he had the wrong house number. When he arrived and we discussed what I wanted done, he was surprised that I told him I had purchased the Big Deal for 8 man hours. He had to leave in the midafternoon and could not be here for those 8 hours. He had to clarify with his boss that I had indeed purchased the 8-hour deal. Wolak was not clear on that at first either which should not have been the case. He and I were able to juggle schedules for the next day to accomodate a second visit. All of this included a tad bit of drama I would rather have done without in the midst of all the general chaos of moving. But the actual paint job was more quantity wise than I expected to be done in 8 hours. For that, I was very pleasantly surprised!
Description of Work: Wolak painted the finished room over our garage and one other bedroom. This involved a stairwell leading into the FROG. It was completed in a timely fashion although there is a place about 2 feet wide in the stairwell that I needed to use a roller to go over it again. It looked like it might have been bumped into or brushed against before it was dry or something. In the bedroom, one wall was green, the other 3 walls were white. He did a great job there; I have found to flaws at all.

Purchased a Angies List Deal for 5 hours of carpentry work for $150 from another company. The other company backed out and Wolak stepped in to honor the deal for Angies List. Mark Wolak, the owner, dealt with me directly. We had a TV cut-out above the fireplace that wasn't sized for flat-screens so we wanted it closed in. Mark came out personally to give the estimate. He then had one of his team come out and frame the space and hang the drywall. Another member of his team came out to do the taping and plaster work. Everyone was great-very responsive and flexible. The quality of work was outstanding. I would use them again and recommend them.
