Virginia Beach Hardscapes

We couldn’t be happier with the exceptional work of Bill and his crew. From getting a quote to completion, everything was beyond our expectations. VB Hardscapes did a top notch job, in a timely manner, and was even able to accommodate a last minute adjustment to the plan. The cherry on top for us was doing all of this for a price which we felt was very reasonable. I would hesitate to use Bill for future work, or give my highest recommendation to friends, family, or neighbors.

After getting several estimates for replacing my patio I decided that Virginia Beach Hardscapes would be the best choice for this project. Bill came and listened to what I was interested in having done, measured, and helped me to make a couple small changes and gave me an estimate that although not the lowest, was comparable and I felt very fair. We discussed his next available opening which was quite a few weeks to wait. I however felt that this company had really good reviews and my first impression was good. I signed the contract and told him that my timeline was very flexible if his schedule changed. I was so surprised and excited when I got a call from Bill and his schedule had an opening and work could begin in a couple of days. They took care of getting the building permit and brought it when they arrived for me to display. On Tuesday several men arrived to my backyard and the work began. I had a couple of questions before Bill arrived on site and he answered them quickly. I live in a townhouse so parking is very tight and they were very careful not to interfere with any of my neighbors as they were coming and going. On Thursday was the pour and they arrived early that morning to get ready for the cement truck to arrive. When it did, they had 5 men, including Bill, working to get my patio installed. While delivering the cement, the truck was too heavy for my cement driveway and there was damage to a small section. Without hesitation his team tore out the damaged cement and replaced the section beautifully. My patio is beautiful, done so early that I can enjoy it for the summer and I have a nice section redone for my driveway .I would highly recommend Virginia Beach Hardscapes and I would use them again in the future.

Started to research a few local contractors in March 2018 to get quotes on replacing or resurfacing my concrete driveway, which had been damaged from years of salt and corrosion. I contacted Bill Watson (Owner VAB Hardscapes) who promptly came out the next day (22nd March) and provided me with a quote and answered my questions about the job. Bill was very professional, walking me through the entire process, $100 deposit and timeline for completion. He informed me that because of the condition of my driveway it would not be possible to resurface, instead a new driveway would have to be installed. I had two other contractors come out over the next few days, who provided me quotes and also confirmed that I would need a new driveway. I chose Bill and VAB Hardscapes because they provided me with a fair price, were fully vetted on Angie’s List and was able to complete the work based on my timeline. Bill’s team gave me a date 4-5 weeks out from my original quote, which met my timeline. At the end of the 3rd week, after Miss Utilities had marked the area, Bill’s team contacted me to say that could be out next week to start the project early. At that time they provided me with directions to prep and clear the area for the upcoming job. Bill and his team showed up the following Thursday @ 0800 with the necessary equipment to break-up the old driveway and prep for pouring the concrete the following day. On Friday AM they finished prepping the area and leveling the dirt for pouring the concrete. The mixer truck showed up at 12:30 and poured the concrete, completing the driveway in 2 days. The next day, on Sat, Bill’s team came by to clean up the area, remove the 2 x 4’s, and provided me with last minute instructions on how long to wait to walk and park on the new driveway. I would definitely recommend Bill and his team. Very professional team, who came each day on time and worked until completion each day. I live on a busy street on a curve, so kudos go out to the backhoe driver not only did he have to dig up the old driveway, but also put up with the crazy traffic coming and going around him. I had only one hiccup during the job. When digging up the old driveway on the 1st day, the team accidently spliced my cable and internet line which was buried shallowly by the cable company. The team notified Bill and I immediately, at which time Bill called the cable company who started a trouble ticket to fix the cable line. The next day Bill and his team installed an electrical conduit for the cable line to bury deep enough under the new driveway. The cable company tech came out that day and fixed the line. The cable and internet is working now, with no problems. My driveway looks great, still waiting a few more days until we can park on it  BJ Jones

Bill and his crew did an excellent job! The initial scheduling of the estimate was easy and I got the estimate on the spot, only a few days after I initially called to make an appointment. Bill clearly understood what I wanted and drew a diagram to reflect his understanding. His quote was reasonable and exactly in line with other companies and the standard price per sq foot of concrete. He required a $100 deposit to get on his schedule, which he said is about 6 weeks out. He was able to start the job about 4 weeks out and completed the job in 2 days. Requires 1/2 of payment on start date and the remaining amount upon completion. The walkway and patio looks excellent and Bill answered all my questions and told me exactly what to expect day of concrete pour and day after.

Everything went well. We had one hiccup, an issue with the size, but we were able to come to a mutually satisfying conclusion. While the size could not be changed at the point it was discovered, the owner offered compensation by way of product.

They did a beautiful job! They were fast! They were punctual! Tony and his crew were very responsive and informative along the way. They even took the time to let my kids help 'drive the tractor'. I couldn't be happier that we chose to work with them!

Bill Watson came out and provided several design ideas for the paver patio we wanted installed. The quote was competitive and equally important, Bill gave us the impression that he would be easy to work with and really cared about doing a good job. There were a few weather related delays but Bill was always prompt in advising us of the revised schedule. Once the job was started his team was polite, friendly and very attentive to detail. The project was finished on schedule and to our complete satisfaction. Thanks Bill!

Work was completed according to schedule and on budget. Bill and his crew were flexible in dealing with schedule due to needed stump grinding and weather. They were willing to take care of a couple of minor issues outside original project scope. Bill himself took care of the final cleanup. Have received several compliments on project looking good.

They installed a brick path and patio for us a few years ago and did such good work that we asked them back to extend the path and add an additional patio. They arrived exactly when they said they would and completed the project in a single day, including clean-up. Their price was reasonable, their workmanship professional, and we are very pleased with the result.

I decided to replace mulched beds around my pool with either pavers or concrete. I have both existing pavers and concrete in the pool deck area. Bill Watson came out and we discussed what could be done. He suggested stamped concrete (natural stone look) vice pavers because he believed it would be a better look than trying to match up with the existing pavers. The stamped concrete was actually less expensive than the pavers. I decided to go with the stamped concrete and picked a color (desert tan) for it. The first thing that needed to be done was to remove the existing mulch beds. This was done by wheel barrel since a truck or dumpster cannot get into my backyard. After that the concrete forms were set. We set a date to pour the concrete but this date moved a little due to all the rain we were receiving. The concrete was set and stamped on one day. Once this was done they had to wait to seal it. I asked Bill to wait to seal it until I was satisfied with how it matched up with the existing deck area. I felt that the color was not what I wanted (too much gray for me) so I asked Bill what my alternates were. He suggested I go with a semi-transparent concrete stain. He mentioned this may be an extra expense above and beyond the sealing he was still contracted to do but I went ahead with it. I picked a stain that more closely matched some of the colors of the existing pavers. Bill came out and put the concrete stain down once the rain cooperated and it looks great. He did not charge me anything extra to apply the stain. In the end I just wanted something to match and Bill worked with me to make that happen.

Bill Watson came out promptly after initial contact, answered all questions and provided a very competitive proposal. He kept us informed of start date changes due to weather and when the time came his crew showed up daily on time for a full day, working until completion. The crew was extremely polite, conscientious, and cleaned up the site daily. The end result is beautiful and this civil engineer couldn't be happier. This experience has restored my faith that there are still a few honest contractors that care about quality.

Virginia Beach Hardscapes arrived prompty on time for a quote request and was very patient discussing the lay out of a driveway addition. While waiting for the scheduled pour date we added some additional work and the contractor was very flexible at accomadating our needs. The quality of work was excellent and the entire crew was very professional. We would not hesitate to use Virginia Beach Hardscapes again for any concrete services.

I love this company! This is the second time I have worked with Bill and his crew and I have not been disappointed either time. These guys are awesome. They are friendly, professional,hard working and just overall amazing. They go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and that everything is done right. Very fair pricing too. Bill was prompt and professional from start to finish. He came by to provide a quote the same day I called to request one. He and his team were quick, efficient and provided excellent work and service. The job was done in 2 days and he came by immediately to help when I let him know that our mailman had stepped on our newly poured concrete and left a footprint. I highly recommend him and would use him without doubt in the future if needed.

This is the 2nd opportunity we have had where Virginia Beach Hardscapes has completed work for us, We liked their work and professionalism and decided to have them replace our driveway. The job went very well as Bill and his crew were punctual, courteous, clean and performed as promised. We had a follow up issue on the decorative sidewalk that was remedied the following business day. I would recommend the company to anyone who will listen.

Bill and his crew provided the best possible service and end product that I have encountered. Working around the rain that engulfed the area for a couple of weeks they still completed the job on time and within budget. The finished work is much better than I had expected and his price was very fair for the amount of work. We plan on using him for another project that we have coming up in the near future. As far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with hiring this company.

I contacted Bill to request consultations on two separate properties, for two different problems. Bill was very prompt in responding to my calls, scheduling meetings and arriving at the properties. He understood the problems presented to him and was able to suggest solutions. We really respected him, because he was honest enough to let us know limitations, along with the benefits of various solutions. He was knowledgable and professional. He spent a great deal of time answering questions and educatating us! We found him to be the type of professional that we would hire. We are currently weighing out the options.

The driveway is lovely and just what I asked for. I joined Angie's list because in the past I have been treated badly by contractors. I am so happy that Virginia Beach Hardscapes was the one to take on the job. I feel they gave me the best price, too. They were professional, timely, conscientious and hard-working. Questions were answered intelligently and kindly. They had to cut out some pretty large tree roots from the old maple trees on either side of my driveway. I watched them work for a bit off and on, and I was quite impressed with them all, no slackers in that group. They even set my new mailbox into concrete for me! Thank you Bill, and your crew! I love my driveway and I will absolutely keep you guys on my list if I need any other 'hardscape' work done!
