I was a little leary about having concrete poured on Friday the 13th but Virginia Beach Hardscapes made it look easy. From my first contact with Bill Watson, he was very professional and curteous. He responded very promptly for an estimate and offered suggestions and advice on the products he offered. There was no pressure at all with his sales pitch. Additionally, he and his crew arrived on time, did an OUTSTANDING job, cleaned everything up and finished on time.. Since I've owned this home, this is the third concrete project I've contracted out and Va Bch Hardscapes is without a doubt the best I've ever used. The product of the work and the professionalism are second to none!

There is no better service or talent if you want any hardscape created for your yard. We are so pleased with our new patio.

I am extremely pleased with the results. Bill Watson of Virginia Beach Hardscapes and his crew were very professional and hard working. The job was well done and completed a day earlier than expected. In addition to the great work, the price was significantly less than the other bids submitted for the work. I would recommend Bill and his crew for any job, large or small.

I called them on Thursday and Monday. He said he would call me back on Monday and he never did. I will be moving forward with another company.

.When I contacted them, Bill came out to give me a quote within 24 hours. At that time, I only had a few ideas of what I wanted to do. We walked around the entire pool area, discussed quite a few options, and he gave me a quote. He had the lowest price on the concrete resurfacing and I did not solicit quotes for the pavers or wall but the price seemed very reasonable. We discussed start dates, signed a contract, and he put me on the schedule. At that point, I still had a few things to decide on such as paver colors, design, etc. as well as pool deck colors. I used most of the couple of weeks before the work started to figure it all out and Bill was very patient and helpful during the process. He came out to the house one day to leave a few samples on the pool deck to help decide exactly what we wanted to go with. He always answered my emails or took my calls. By the time my work started, I had added on to the job and he wrote up the final quote and contract which was completely in line with expectations and they got to work. They started on a Tuesday and worked everyday including the weekend through the following Thursday. Bill and his crew were always professional. I was at work most days but did spend a couple of days at home during the project. I really gained an appreciation of their attention to detail and craftsmanship and it is obvious they take great pride in their work. The finished project exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

They did a good job on my driveway. I would recommend them. They handled the building permit, and made sure it was built to code. They did a very professional job and made sure that I was satisfied with the work. It took a while to get it scheduled, but there were extenuating circumstances to the delay. I think he should have left a message and communicated what was going on. I compared the price, and their price was competitive and reasonable. The best value is not necessarily the best price, but if I were looking at the value I would say the price was excellent. The quality was excellent, and the work is holding up fine.I would use this provider again.

Virginia Beach Hardscapes responded to my e-mail request for quote within 1 day and came out to provide the quote the next day. The price of the project was exactly what I expected with reasonable start date (No BS). Permit was obtained the following day. Bill Watson was able to start the project soon after underground utilities were marked off. When I came home from my office in the afternoon of the first day of the project all the old concrete and walkway had been removed and most of the forming had been completed. Originally I had not planned on doing the back patio but decided to add it on the first day of the project, Bill was able to change the scope of the project and not skip a beat. I normally do all the work on my house, but the scope of this project was a bit much for me. This is the first time I have called a contractor out to my house, the complete project went as planned, looks great and I didn't haft to break a sweat. Bill and his crew are quick, proficient professionals. I plan on doing some concrete work in the future and will be calling Virginia Beach Hardscapes.

I have owned my condo for 3 years and have never been able to use the backyard. The area where my husband and I live use to be swampland so the ground stays pretty wet. I consulted with two companies to pave the backyard ? Virginia Beach Hardscapes has an excellent rating on Angie's list and Bill Watson was so professional and responsive it was an easy choice going with his company. When we first consulted with Bill, my husband and I had a certain paver in mind, which is what Bill provided a quote for. We didn't have him order it though until we were able to see it in person, once we saw it we decided we didn't like it. Bill was very understanding of our change in product and once we finally decided on a paver it took minutes to get a new quote and schedule the job. Fortunately, we caught Bill at a time when he still had an early opening, so we were able to get our patio done within days of selecting our product. Bill and two other workers showed up on day one - they removed and disposed of all the grass/weeds, the concrete patio slab and any other rock/debris that was in the backyard. Then they leveled/graded the back with all of the appropriate materials, laid the pavers in a pattern of our choice, and finished it off with polymeric sand. All of this took 2 1/2 days...very impressive! Bill and his crew were extremely professional and pleasant to be around and to have working in our small backyard. They were very mindful of the condo "common area" by keeping all materials on tarps/pallets and they were very good about cleaning up each day. I honestly don't feel like this review is doing justice to this company ? Bill Watson and his crew did an Amazing Job! I would highly recommend Virginia Beach Hardscapes to anyone considering paving their patio/sidewalk/driveway and I would definitely use them again.

I received an estimate from Virginia Beach Hardscapes on March 22, 2012 for a paver walkway around the side of my house. I was very impressed with Bill Watson's professionalism and ideas, and chose his company to do the work. I felt that the price was very reasonable. Work began on April 3, 2012, the exact day Bill estimated they could begin. Bill and his team had to hand dig the area due to a fence and underground sprinkler equipment. It was no easy task but they were very careful and completed the digging with only one slight problem. One of the PVC sprinkler lines had to be repaired and they did the repair themselves. They were also very careful not to disturb plants close to the digging area. Border bricks I had used previously were removed and neatly stacked behind my shed. On the day of my trash pickup, they rearranged their work truck and also repositioned the trashcan so it could be easily accessed by the trash truck. When I went out of the house to take mail to my mailbox, one of the men took it for me so I wouldn't have to navigate around the truck and trailer. They were very considerate and professional throughout the entire project. The work was completed by midday on April 6, 2012. Bill even stopped by with a thank you gift after the project was completed. The walkway is absolutely beautiful and everything I hoped for. This is the company I plan to use for any future paver or hardscape work I have done.

They did a fantastic job. They also did some extra work for me. I called them and they came the next day and started working; they got in and got out and cleaned up everything. They were almost $2000 cheaper than everybody else. I would use them again in the future if I needed to.

Bill was a pleasure to work with on my driveway project. We were delayed over 8 months due to permit requirements and Bill kept in touch the whole time. He and his crew showed up on time on day one and continued to show up on time until the project was complete. This was a large driveway project and Bill ensured he had additional people when the driveway was poured. I would not hesitate to use Bill again for any project and would recommend him without hesitation.

Virginia Beach Hardscapes was far and away the lowest bid for this job.Bill personally delivered the bid in writing and was the only company that dlivered a bid in writing. Bill was easy to work with and coordinate because at first the temperatures were a little iffy for pouring concrete. He was very accomodating and had customer satisfaction at the forefront. He kept me thoroughly informed throughout the process. They showed up when they said they would (I've had many problems in the past with other contractors not doing what they said they would do, when they said they would do it). They did an excellent job fitting the new concrete to the existing sidewalk, and made appropriate angles for drainage. They cleaned up the worksite before they left. I will definitely call them again for any concrete work I might need, and I strongly recommend them.

Bill responded promptly to our e-mail request for an estimate. He came over on Saturday morning, scoped the job, answered our questions about design/materials, and provided a written estimate. His price per square foot was in the range we wanted to pay, so we decide to go with Bill. His team showed up at 8:30AM in the morning on the scheduled day and were done by 6:00PM. We are very pleased with his work and professionalism. We would recommend him and hire him again if needed.

The pavers were laid quickly. We did not like the color we ordered so they took them up, ordered more and were reasonable in what they charged to take them up and redo it. They did a nice jjob (both times), worked quickly and were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I would use this company again and recommend it to others. Make sure to ask for a sample of the paver you pick. It's hard to pick the right color from a catalogue.

After deciding to install Kool Decking on my existing concrete around my pool, I contacted several contractors from Angies List. Bill was prompt, polite and $2700 lower than the highest contractor bid. We scheduled a date for mid November that was temperature dependant because the concrete can't be too cold. I decided a few weeks later that I wanted to do the Kool Decking in the spring and would add approx 350 sqft of concrete to the existing pool deck. Bill was fine with it and again was the lowest bid. The work was performed quickly and exactly as promised, he even removed the existing fence and installed a temp until the concrete was dry. The jobsite was extremely clean and my yard was not affected.......and the concrete looks great!

I always think things cost too much, but the job went very well indeed. Mr. William Watson responded the day I called him and promptly supplied me with an estimate along with details of the job. When I called him a few days later to accept his proposal, he found two days within the week for his men to complete the removal, pouring, and washing. After the aggregate had cured, they came back and sealed it, filling in a little topsoil around the finished edge. It all looks neat, safe, and clean now, and it blends well with the other sidewalks in my townhouse development. In short, I am very happy with the result!

This project was to replace 2 areas of my wood decking with pavers. I wanted something a little unique in one of the areas and Bill designed a round design in the middle with pavers of a different color. How beautiful this is! Near completion of this project, I determined I wanted my wood decking walkway replaced with the same pavers and a paver ramp to my shed. Again, Bill put a round design in the middle of the ramp with the different color pavers just bringing everything together aesthetically. I can not say enough nice things about Bill Watson and his crew. Bill is so easy to work with. His prices are competitive and fair. His crew is hard working. They pulled up all the decking, then dug out the area, filled it, leveled it and installed the pavers. They were prompt, courteous and cleaned up after themselves each night as they finished up. The work was finished within the expected time frame. I look forward to working with Bill again. These guys are the best!

The project was to design and install a concrete paver patio where a flower bed had previously been. The estimate was very competitive and fair. The start date was as promised. The crew dig out the area, placed, leveled and tamped each respective layer of materials and installed the pavers. Next they installed columns which were to be capped with electric outdoor lighting fixtures. Capstones were added, lamps were installed. Bill Watson and his crew were excellent. Bill had a lot of great design ideas and was very patient with change orders. His crew was prompt, courteous and cleaned up after themselves each night as they finished up. The work was finished within the expected time frame, given my change orders. We are delighted with our patio and are very pleased with their work. We will not hesitate to use them for our next project.

Bill and his team did a great job! We got several estimates and his price was in line with them, but we liked his flexibility in terms of how much of an area to concrete and how much to lay down stone. The job was completed quickly and alongside a pool company who replaced the pool coping and installed a new pump. The new deck looks great and we're really excited about using our pool next year without fear of our daughter tripping over cracked and broken concrete! They also worked with us to address some drainage problems we had with the old concrete, and laid the concrete (and underground piping) to carry the water away from our problem spots. We've had some heavy rains since the installation and the laundry room finally no longer floods! Bill and his team also repaired our wooden fence gates and a few other panels that had been warped from overgrown trees and weeds. They also helped me take groceries from my car one day, and another day helped unload our car of the shrubs we'd purchased to place in pots around the pool. Bill was a great guy to work with and he and his team went above and beyond our expectations. We'll eventually get our driveway redone too and we know who to call!

Outstanding experience with a professional company. Bill was responsive to every question and concern. Quote came in well within reason. We were out of town for the pour and Bill kept us updated during the entire process. Nothing but compliments and neighbor envy. Highly recommend Bill and Virginia Beach Hardscapes.

Common sense ideas are in play. Get a written proposal. Have all work spelled out. Ask questions.

Entire experience with Virginia Hardscapes was outstanding. Bill was very good at providing various options and contacting me with details of when and how the work would be accomplished. The crew that did the driveway were all very courteous and did a great job. Bill followed up after the work was completed which is something that most providers do not think to do. I thought that the price was very reasonable for what was provided. Highly recommend Bill and his company.

My first meeting with Mr. Watson was to gather information and receive an estimate. A few weeks later I asked to meet with him again to clarify what we had previously talked about. He was very professional and patient with me. After deciding to have his company do the job, a date was set. They arrived as scheduled and the job was done as described. I was very impressed at how hard they worked even with the weather being extremely hot. Mr. Watson was here and working with his men everyday so I did not worry about the job being done correctly. I love his attention to the little details that often are overlooked. Professional behavior from crew, on time, great job! This has been a very positive experience.

Bill is a great guy and easy to work with. The day he came out to give us our estimate he called to let us know that he'd be 10 minutes late, which we really appreciated. He communicated to us all the details of the job and what we could expect from him and his work; he was in constant touch via calls and emails to let us know each step of the process. The area that they were working with was challenging in that it was gravel and had some overgrowth to start with, but his crew did a great job clearing it out before pouring the concrete. The job was somewhat small and simple, but the job was nicely done and made our yard look much cleaner, neater and even bigger. Bill was also very kind in understanding that we had a newborn in the house, something that we were very appreciative of!

I was pleased to receive a call first thing the next morning after sending a message to the company through Angie's List. He was able to come out that afternoon to discuss the project with us. He brought a book with samples of his work, as well as several vendor catalogs. We weren't sure if we wanted stamped concrete or pavers, and Bill was very helpful to talk us through the differences between both, as well as the pros and cons. He also gave us an estimate for each, which allowed us to make the decision. Once we'd decided on pavers over concrete, he walked us through samples and helped us find a design we fell in love with. He asked for $100 deposit at signing, half of the total cost at start, and the balance at completion. Miss Utility marked the back yard several days after we signed the contract, and they were out to start the project the following Monday. I didn't want to take off work, and they were able to perform the work without me being there. On the first day, they did all the digging and got the rock base in place. I was holding my breath that day, because our Verizon FiOS line ran straight through the area they were going to be digging up. I was relieved to find all services still working without a problem when I got home. I was really surprised to see the size of the some of the roots they had to dig out. The bricks we'd purchased were special order, and hadn't arrived yet, so the rest of the work was delayed a few days. The laying of the bricks took them two days. Everything looked so beautiful when it was done. They paid a lot of attention to detail in every regard. I was so tickled that they went the extra mile and used some of their sand to lay our old stepping stones outside the gate as a ramp into the back yard. I'd mentioned to one of the workers one day that I was going to do that. Imagine my surprise when they did it for me! We've received so many compliments from friends and family on how wonderful the patio looks. It really has transformed our yard. I've given Bill's card to several friends already, and happily recommend them. Thanks to Bill for the beautiful back yard, and thanks to his crew who was out there really working in 90-100 degree summer heat without a complaint.
