TruGreen Lawn Care - 5730

The first 6-7 years of treatment and service was great. The last 3 years or so the quality of treatments has continuously gotten worse. It’s now a lawn covered with weeds that they initially try to camouflage with fertilization to green up the grass. Several treatments later or was it really treated?, the lawn is covered in weeds. Such a rip off for a lawn that has been consistently treated year after year. Looking at their reviews apparently management has been instructing technicians to alter the quality of treatments as this seems to be observed by previous customers. Canceled future services.

The prices could be better. The communications are tough, you have to call into a call center and not directly with the technicians.

It turned out just fine. They come out regularly. We pay them at the beginning of the year. I think they do a good job.

My husband was taking care of that and he seemed very pleased. If he didn't like it, he wouldn't have gone back to them.

They come out about once a month and do things. I pay by the year. I do my own mowing, edging and things like that. I've been with them for several years and I will stay with them. I do the mowing and they help me keep the grass green. They are nice.

We prepay for the year because we get a discount. They are responsive and do a great overall job. Sometimes they need to come out in between services for additional trouble areas. Overall, the lawn looks pretty good. It just takes time, I think. They're reseeding this year. It wasn't quite as good as it was last year. There are still some bare spots.

It's been the same price each year. I think they did a better the first year we've used them.

The service was very good. They are very courteous. They always knock on the door to let you know what they are going to do and they leave a note when they are done. The weed control was not as good as I hoped.

Weeds were never brought under control, although we contacted them on numerous occasions to tell them what they were doing was not killing the weeds. They just got worse over the summer. Did not always come when scheduled.

The 3 years it was Scotts, everything went well. After the merger in 2016, results were dismal. They missed the 1st 2 applications of 2016 - the result was out of control crab grass and weeds. I dropped the plan service when large portions of the azaleas dies right after each treatment. I discussed the issues with management and they agreed to do the annual aeration and seeding in Sept - they gave me a date (with 2 robo calls verifying the service was to be provided) and were no shows. I inquired and they could not tell me when the service would be done. I talked with numerous reps (at several levels of the company) until it was finally done. Results for 2016 were dismal, getting support form them was very frustrating. I have cancelled my service and will move to another provider.

The sales man who initially signed me up was a liar. He said that he was going to do my whole yard, for the first of the three or four services, they only get my frontyard, so I basically thought the guy is like cheating, I was like hey look, you guys arent even doing my backyard, you're supposed to do my whole yard, so they are like no, it says here we're just going to do the frontyard, I said no, that's a lie. First of all, it's supposed to be the whole yard, the 10,000 sq ft as advertised and my frontyard is only about 3,000 sq ft so you guys should be in my whole yard. Well they came out and started doing the back, but to be honest, when I said they did the bare minimum, that's what they do, they did the bare minimum. They're supposed to come out and do the aeration, I mean I barely saw any plug, you know how they have a little poker, and poke holes in your lots, they did that like the worst think I've ever seen, like it was barely completed at all, they showed up and did it, but it's bare minimum, same thing with the treatments, it's just a terrible service. The customer service is horrible, you need to talk with someone there, goodluck if trying to get a hold of your local guy, they have 800 members so you can always talk to someone, but when it comes to your particular issue, they'll say okay well, we'll have the manager call you or we'll have the salesman call you, they don't ever call. So it's impossible to get in touch with them if you have an issue, the service is terrible, they're not even an honest people. Don't use them, they're terrible

Honestly, at first time I thought it was going to be great, the guy called me up and said listen I'l do this and this, so I said yeah let's do it, I signed up with them thinking it was going to go great. They had to come out for free before you really know what's up, a month later, I noticed they were not treating my backyard, and barely treating my front yard to be honest, it got worse. The first time I tried to call in, I've had this problem about them, it took them days to get a hold of someone, like oh my goodness.

They are disappointing, they said they are going to be here they are not and the lawn I don't think they fertilize the way you paying them to fertilize I do it annual with them for few years and every time I have to call to tell them listen this is wrong this wrong I mean I'm tired let us said why don't you do job first place I don't need to keep watching you and now I had some tree problem and I get somebody to look at it and then he told me even your grass need some fertilization how long as it's been since you fertilize it and I said trust me I fertilize I have a company that does it every year.

They're good. They've been doing it for 3 years and they clean my yard. I have no complaints.

Having done business with another lawn care professional, I now realize the poor coverage I received from TruGreen. I continued them from a prior property. I usually did not witness the application. I was often unhappy withthe weed killer coverage, because I could tell where they applied it as the weeds did reract appropriately almost immediately in those areas. They did come out to retreat, but their policy required a waiting period of several weeks, which left me almost to the next treatment period. The show-stopper was when I was preparing my yard from my son's outdoor wedding. I called three time, but could never reach anyone who could schedule an additional treatment/service or get a call back. This was several weeks before the wedding. Afterwards, I cancelled. That provoked a flurry of calls asking why I quit. Nothing could have been more provocative!

They were supposed to treat backyard, but they treated the front. They didn't inform me they were there. They left a sticker on my door and still charged me for the service even though it was their mistake. They offered nothing extra to make it better.

Last year we had a lawn service and that was through TruGreen. We had them do our lawn I think like 3 or 4 years and we had a couple of really really good years and a couple of the last year they, it was terrible. The last two years it was terrible. They kept killing the grass instead of making it grow. I think the office that we were using was in Chesapeake, somewhere, but they went through this new system where you use to be able to talk to, directly to the manager, supervisor or what ever at that location but now you are restricted to calling this 800 number and you get this service and they put the service calls in and the service calls are usually bad, and if you ask for a call back sometimes you get one some times you don't. The last time my husband actually talked to somebody. He actually caught them out in the neighborhood and one of the guys that use to do the lawn was in the neighborhood and he recommended to my husband and me, they started talking and my husband told him how dissatisfied he was, you know, he really apologized and said that unfortunately it was kind of out of his control anymore because they went to this new system. They came to the door or left fliers on the door a couple of times and my husbands just like just don't want to do that because, you know, our grass was really, it was really nice and it was doing well and then we hired them for, you know, the next season or two seasons and they almost immediately killed the grass and we've had a couple of neighbors that said the same thing so when we'd say what are you doing they would just say, oh were just killing the weeds its all weeds and I'm like, no it's not all weeds it's, I know what a weed looks like, and there's no reason to, even if you're going to kill the weeds you don't kill it to the extent you have nothing but mud left. The last time I believe they were out, it would have been early the summer of 14. I want to say it comes to somewhere around $45 a treatment and a few of those contractors usually, right around 300 bucks. If I base it on the last service we had from them I would have to have to say it was an F. They would come out and they were suppose to do regular treatments of fertilizer and of course weed control and that kind of thing but it seemed like the weed control was all that ever happened and I mean the entire season it was, it just gradually got worse and worse. First it would start, they would come out to do the weed control and you know you would typically have a brown spot here brown spot there where he killed a patch a little patch of weeds or what ever, we had these huge brown spots and they just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and then of course from that they would turn into mud and they would just say oh no, no, it's killing the weeds. We had it over seeded the year before so it should have been fine but it was horrible. The price was probably, the price wasn't bad. They're pricing is competitive. If not a little bit less than some of the other, there's two or three other ones we see ads for or there in the neighborhood and we get fliers for and we've talked about the pricing and it seems to be a little bit higher or close so price I can say is not bad. Punctuality was usually pretty good. I would possibly use them in the future but only if they changed some of their, change there system, they have to have more of a personalized service from them like we got in the beginning. My husband, he would probably give them another try.

I cancelled the service and will find another provider.

It's a regularly scheduled service. When I requested some information on the internet, they were back in touch with me within two hours, They showed up on a given day.

I have finally had enough of Trugreen. The company is supposed to automatically charge my credit card but sends me late notices instead. I paid for aeration in June and was promised it would be done in August but had to call and request that they do the service. I mark all my sprinkler heads with bright orange spray paint, use the same paint to mark my invisible fence and I receive a note on my door saying I didn't mark anything. Their customer service pegs the bad meter. You will spend several minutes listening to ads before given the option of being called back. I don't know how long it takes to get an employee if I stayed on hold because I gave up after twenty minutes I have used them for a couple of years I don't know why it has taken me this long to kick them to the curb. I don't ever want them in my yard again.

My wife has been complaining about the way our yard looks. We have crab grass so I am looking for a replacement. We have had them for about three years and this last year my wife has been complaining. He called last week before he came for our most recent treatment. They do their job, but there are still some problems with the grass, including crab grass and patches. I think they go through a check list and may not pay much attention.

Used 800 number to take advantage of special offer and get estimate. Gave me an estimate $1300 using satellite imagery. No explanation of details. They call with scheduled appointment. Technician arrives, starts first application, stops, and informs me that I have a lot more property than the estimate. Recognize that they have taken my credit card and provided a written agreement documenting their service with no mention of amount of area to be treated. The technician tried to call his boss, using my cell phone, but couldn't reach him. He left telling me they would get back to me. After he left, I decided to call his boss since his number was on my cell. After asking me how I got his number and telling me this was his personal cell and not to use it, he gave me the main office number and said he would get back to me after speaking with the technician. This was Thursday morning. By the following Tuesday, I had not heard from him so I called the national 800 number and complained about the process. Fifteen minutes later, I get a call from the Richmond manager. He makes excuses for not getting in contact and asks to come out and re-estimate. I tell him OK and that I have two other companies coming for estimates. He did show up as promised. I have 2.06 acres of land, three companies, including Tru Green, have estimated appx. 36000 sq ft of lawn. I was told the satellite image estimate was for 13000 sq ft. Quite a discrepancy. The technician told me they run into this problem a lot. I was suspicious that this was just a bait and switch process. I chose a local company (D&D) who are providing same service for $2000. Tru Green tech and manager were nice enough. It took a couple weeks to get all estimates and make decision, Tru Green called twice (recorded message) to schedule a service even though the Manager said he would put my service on hold. You can decide whether you want to do business with Tru Green.

Provider treated the wrong area of the lawn, an area we had already treated. We had paid for a whole year and they refunded all of our money except the $29.95 for the service provided, even though we did not request them to treat that area.

They come on a monthly basis. I hardly meet the workers because I'm at work. They seemed to do their job on time.

The service was good. The end result looks good.
