"We disagree with this review and as opposed to going back and forth with a "he said she said" we will leave it at this. Quality Stone highly recommends people who embark on a complicated indoor out door remodeling project to use Angie's List to consult, and hire, a qualified General Contractor for their projects instead of doing it themselves. A qualified General Contractor is responsible for making sure that the project comes in on time and within budget, and they hire and manage sub-contractors, such as brick masons, electricians or plumbers. In regards to the above picture, a qualified General Contractor would have ensured that the brick mason correctly installed the block plum, level and with no voids AND that there was proper support. This would have ensured that there were no future problems with the installed countertops."

"Hi [removed member name], I wanted to let you know that we have taken your advice and made it happen. We have just hired 2 project managers, one for cabinets and the other for granite countertop projects. This should help cut down on the responsiveness issues you were writing about. Thanks again and we appreciate your review."
We were instructed to choose our slabs. They scheduled the measurement within a few days and had the install completed a week later! Everyone we had contact with was outstanding, professional and concerned with our satisfaction.
They are highly recommended!
Ryan was extremely apologetic about the experience. He followed up with his co-worker, indicated that they had made several changes within the organization to prevent a repeat of my experience, and volunteered to refund the $144.00. In my opinion, Ryan did absolutely everything right to earn back my business. For this reason I now feel confident in recommending Quality Stone Concepts. If I'm in need of these services in the future, I will definitely contact Ryan. 4/17/13

Quality good, but one bad apple ruined the experience and will ensure I go with one of their competitors in the future.
I first contacted them less than two weeks from the date I needed their service. Additionally, I was living in DC but needed work done on a home in Chesapeake. I worked with Ryan, one of the owners, and he was fantastic! He was courteous, informative and eager to get me the service I needed. I was putting granite in a house that I was selling, so I only wanted to consider the lower-end granite choices. Since the floor tile was chocolate brown, he recommended Santa Cecilia or Ornamental. I liked Santa Cecelia based on what I saw online, but he admitted that his website was kinda messed up and didn't capture the actual granite choices well, and also acknowledged that there is wide variation with this particular stone. I told him I would be in town the following week and would come by the quarry to look at the actual granite slab. Ryan hooked me up with the service department to set up measurements, I signed a contract for the project (the contract did specify Santa Cecilia) and sent my deposit.
The service department set up measurement for Monday and install on Friday. Mark came out and measured. He was polite, efficient, knowledgeable and provided good insight on a couple areas where I needed suggestions.
On Wednesday I went out to the quarry. I spoke with Rob and told him I wanted to look at the slab. I also mentioned that after seeing samples of the stone at home depot and lowes that I wasn't sure it was the best choice given my decision to leave the cabinets white. He showed me Ornamental as well as Uba Tuba, commenting that both worked especially well with white cabinets, and emphasized...like Ryan...that Ornamental was particularly popular for models and builders because of its versatility. I asked him if they had started cutting my stone and he said he didn't think so since it wasn't being installed until Friday. He was extremely helpful, walked me through the work shop, and gave me a sample of each of the three stone types we discussed. On the way out of the store I saw Ryan, introduced myself, showed him the three samples and told him that I was reconsidering my choice based on his/Rob's recommendations and seeing the slabs. I told him I was bringing the samples to my buyer and would get back with him in an hour. He was extremely pleasant and said OK. I couldn't reach the buyer but decided Ornamental was the right choice, stopped by Sherwin Williams to get the matching paint for the kitchen and adjoining family room and then called Ryan. When I called back within the hour, Ryan apologized but said they had already cut my counter top. He asked me if there was any way I could agree to keep the Santa Cecilia. I was frustrated because I had clearly communicated to two different people, Ryan included, that I was reconsidering the granite choice, and was given the OK. I was able to eventually reach the buyer who came over to look at the options along with the new paint colors I'd just bought. While we both agreed the Ornamental would have been a better choice, she was willing to accept the Santa Cecilia. I called back Ryan and he was extremely apologetic for the miscommunication, and offered to credit me the cost of the paint ($288.00). I accepted the offer and they emailed me a final bill for the balance which included the $288 credit.
The installers showed up Friday...Mark and another gentlemen who's name I don't remember. Both very courteous and professional...they went out of their way to be helpful, including offering to help carry in a range and dishwasher. I ran a couple errands right after they arrived and when I came back there was a very angry-looking guy standing in my family room. I looked at him and he said, "Are you Meg?" I said yes. He introduced himself as Terry and then got very acerbic with me. He waved the contract and said he didn't understand why they were discounting my purchase price, and if they were then he wanted all the paint. It was hard to hear with the noise of the floor and countertop work so I took him out to the patio to discuss. Terry was incredibly rude and condescending. He said that he has communication problems with his business partner, Ryan. He was very derogatory toward Ryan and toward me. He called me a house flipper (I'm not, I've owned this home since '98 and it's breaking my heart to have to sell it) and that I would obviously know the stone would have already been cut on Wed for a Friday install (I didn't know...and neither did his business partner or another employee). He was literally yelling at me. He was waving his arms and every time I tried to make a point he got snide and sarcastic with me. His behavior was so extreme that two different neighbors came over later to ask me if I was OK. Although I still believe I had every right to accept the full discount that Ryan offered, I agreed to split the difference and pay an additional $144 over the price of my bill. He never really agreed to that, but he left my property so I assume that resolved the issue.
Other than the fact that the install team forgot to put a silicon bead between the backsplash and the wall, I'm happy with the product. My recommendation to Ryan, Mark, Suzanne and the whole team at Quality Stone Concepts is ... ditch Terry! He is a bad man that should not be representing any of you or your product. Both of my neighbors asked me who did the work and, although they thought the counter top looked nice, they said they would never do business with the company based on the way they saw me being treated.
