Work is not complete. It will be a year this August. Contractor does not respond nor has any intentions of coming back. He just walked off the job... my roof still leaks(this is the 9th time). We are now headed to mediation with the BBB
Description of Work: Siding, deck, wrapping and an unattached screened in porch( almost like a gazebo with windows, a French door and a AC/heating unit).. the deck and unattached porch are a nightmare. The framer did not attach the walls however he removed the peak of the bay window and attached the new roof to the existing roof

He wanted to give me back my 7,000.00 dollars and sign over my last payment of over 8,000.00. This took place the 3rd week of June. It is now 7/17 and have not seen any workers or received any phone calls. They walked away from the job.. leaving me with a room that leaks and it's only 1/2 drywalled
Description of Work: Prestige has been working on my house since August of last year (2016). It started with the wrapping and replacing the exterior wood, which we had them redo because it was not done properly. The faux stone took 3x's to get it right. The railings and balusters were crooked, no level was used until I checked it with my own level. Yes, they fixed it after I pointed it out. The front looks beautiful except it is not completely finished... I signed off on it when I was promised it would be completed. The material is here, but no one has touched it!!!! Moving right along to the real disaster.. we wanted a Trex Deck on the lower level and trex stairs to the second existing deck. My design , which I paid the architect to draw, from the beginning, was never followed... the stairs to the upper second story deck are WOOD. Not even a year old and they are warping! The deck itself, the color we chose, is very pretty. However, the workmanship is very poor. Angles are horrible, steps are uneven ... I was to have a screened in UNATTACHED sunroom. The framer attached it to my roof by cutting the peak off of my bay window, leaving a huge hole. It's now an addition!! The room to this day is still not completed... My calls and texts go unanswered for days, I have sent certified letters to the owner asking if he would please visit my home to see the workmanship... I have yet to hear from him ( last letter sent was 4/17) My husband is a 68 yr old Veteran and I am disabled, yet no one can seem to help with the situation... I wrote a complaint to the BBB EXplaning the above.. I received a phone call from the General Manager who then threatened me.. if I did not take my review down he would see me in Court with his 5 attorneys and it will get "very ugly". I took it down... in the beginning of 12/16 he demanded over 7,000.00 .

The sales pitch for the contract was slick and convincing. Once I signed on the dotted lines the problems were unbelievable. 1. The promised completion time turned from 2 days to over a month, start to finish. 2. The subcontractor used my neighbors garage supposedly temporarily to store the contents of his truck so he could go get supplies. WEEKS later we had to threaten him to get him to get the trash out that he left behind. 3. They did not install a wireless thermostat as was in the contract. Never got that. 4. I was billed for the wrong amount and had to call multiple times to get a refund of what I was charged. 5. My system leaked for two subsequent rains through the roof. 6. They never explained that my 'interest-free financing' was for one year only and that the end of the year I would be charged back interest at an extremely high rate (adding thousands to the cost). 7. Had to be hassled multiple times to get them to return to fasten the pipes running up three stories to my apartment to the building. 8. Several times I couldn't get return calls or updates on where people were. 9. Workers came significantly late and left early multiple times. This was a terrible experience and soured me from doing additional work on the apartment that I wanted to do. Once the money was handed over their customer service ended.
Description of Work: Installed new mini-split system and duct work in an older apartment that previously had no central air conditioning.

Well, it started when one of the employees canvassed the neighborhood. It was a small company with a professional look. I decided to give them a try. An agent was scheduled to meet at my residence that Saturday. He arrived late so that started to look like a bad sign. I decided to give the benefit of the doubt and go on anyway. I was told that it would be 7 day and I should hear from someone. On the 10th day I called the main office in which the office assistance was very unprofessional. She said it would take more than 7 days before I hear from someone. Still no calls after 15 days. I then called the owner in which he said he would contact me to let me know when the job would start. I still heard nothing from him and had to call him to hold him to a time to start installation. The crew finally started but still with no definite start/end date it was very difficult to plan other jobs that needed to be completed. The workers started one day then would no show the next. Contacted the office again trying to speak to someone yet again no communication. After the job was completed in about a week and a half still haven't had any initial contact from the office. The workers did a wonderful job at the end. Communication with this company was very lousy and I will not promote or recommend this company to do any work because of poor communication.

The estimator arrived pretty much on time, however we weren't expecting the quote to take almost 3 hours. The estimator was in and out of the house gathering samples from his car for his VERY high pressure sales pitch. More than one time he stated he was surprised that our roof was still on top of our house and that we would actually walked on it...he couldn't believe that we didn't have any leaks, sagging or other issues with it (our roof is approx 24yrs old). At the end of the appointment where were told the figure that the roof would cost to replace, but if we signed the contract then and there and signed up for some kind of promotion which involved giving the names, phone numbers, and addresses of 3 of our friends we would get the roof cheaper. We declined and the estimator left. We get a phone call a couple of months later stating they are doing a promotional and wanted to replace our roof with a 'show case' roof and it would be even cheaper than the estimate that they 'gave' us was. I informed the person on the phone even if we wanted to do the 'show case' roof we were never given a written estimate to compare with what they were offering us now, they seemed surprised and said they would let the manager know, we never heard back from them. However a few months ago I started receiving phone calls from an unknown number at all times of the day and week that never left a message. I finally had enough and called the number back to find out that it was an employee that USED to work for the company but was now working with a new company and wanted to know if we wanted our roof done by them even cheaper than Prestige had quoted. I was not at all happy about an employee taking our information with them when they left the company, however not knowing if it was given to them or it was taken I call Prestige for an explanation. The answer I was given was that she was a manager and there was nothing they could or would do about her taking my information and that since it wasn't my SSN, birthdate, or credit card information there was no need to worry. The only way I can guarantee she didn't have this information was because it was NEVER given to them, why they would even need my SSN or birthdate as a home improvement company is beyond me in the first place. The manager continually talked over me while I was on the phone with him trying to figure out what they were going to do to try to prevent this from happening in the future. I can honestly say based off of their former employee's actions of taking my information and the actions of the manager on the phone that even if they were the last home improvement company in Hampton Roads I would NOT use them or recommend them to anyone.

From estimate to completion I had direct communication with the representative. He was personable and made my family feel comfortable (very important). The work was begun a bit later than I would have preferred (due to their work load) but the contractors they used were very expeditious in their job. Their conversation were not in keeping with a family environment at all times but overall they were respectful. The quality of the work was significantly good and the clean up resulted in only 3-6 nails being found and not other debris. They were willing to go the extra mile (i.e. pull vines from high spaces reset siding) and that was a plus.
Description of Work: I had my roof replaced as it was well overdue.

Company called and offered an appointment to provide an estimate for installing a new roof. The representative arrived 15 min late. The representative behaved professionally listened to what I wanted and then began to take measurements. At this point, my wife had to go pick my daughter up from pre-school. The rep insisted she be present to discuss the roofing options. My wife and I have discussed and agreed to replace our roof already, we have experience doing so in the past and it is unnecessary for both of us to be present for an estimate. The representative explained that their sales model depended on both owners being present and that he would not present the estimate otherwise. I sent him away. He made the comment that their products are more expensive and that they sell the "service" aspect. Prestige is obviously all about the high-pressure sales pitch geared towards making you commit on the spot. I would not recommend this company.

Overall we were quite pleased from start to finish with everything. When it finally did happen after our contract was signed (had some minor hang-ups - HOA, concrete guy changed, permits needed), everything was TIMELY and PROFESSIONAL!!! I only gave a B on punctuality because our start date was put off quite a bit (we're over that). Then, we were told the project would take 4-6 weeks from start to finish (I KNOW better than that - it ONLY takes a couple days AT BEST to frame up a 12x16 box with siding and roofing). It was COMPLETE in less than a week! It was like under promise and over deliver principle. Just be a smart consumer when you're dealing with ANYBODY...not just this company! There were a FEW little annoyances but it's CONSTRUCTION - it's to be EXPECTED! Overall, I'm happy! I would do business with them again!
Description of Work: Had an addition done on our home (approx. 192 sq.ft.) Prestige finished the exterior of the addtion (perimeter blocking, slab, siding, roof). They also moved our kitchen window into the addition and installed an UPGRADED sliding glass door at NO EXTRA CHARGE!

In about mid-March I signed a contract with Prestige Home Improvement to have high quality energy efficient windows installed in my house. They're a local company and have the windows made in the USA--good, I thought. The salesman promised outstanding service, outstanding windows, and a one-day job completed by April 15. He then wrote May1-May15 for the installation on the contract. At the time I wasn't sure I would be in town from May 1-15, as I'd explained to him. I questioned the dates on the contract, but he insisted this was to give them extra time in case of a terrible storm, etc, so unless there was some terrible emergency the windows would be in by April 15. It was mid-April before a crew even came out to the measurement, and they said the job would take 3-4 days. They laughed and rolled their eyes when I said the salesman promised it would be done in one day. After several delays, on about May 20 the salesman came back to my house needing additional income verification I could've provided from the outset if requested. I gave him everything he asked for in March when I signed the contract. Anyway, I asked him why the job wasn't done on time. He became angry and started blaming the weather, which has been good for months. I called the owner and said I wanted to cancel the contract because I'd lost trust in the company. I explained that the job hadn't been done yet, over a month after the April 15 date the salesman promised, several days after the "emergency" May 15-at-the-latest date on the contract, and that the job apparently would take several days, not one day. I also said the salesman had gone off on me and hadn't been honest with me when I asked him why the job wasn't done on time. The owner insisted he'd make sure the job was done right and said that's why he'd scheduled his two best crews for the following Tuesday, May 25. That was news to me. He said the salesman should've told me the installation date. We went back and forth, and finally agreed to have the work done at a 10% discount. The owner assured me the crews would do a good job and be done in one day. They finished the job in one day, but two of the screens they installed have holes in them, and the crew that installed the sliding glass door left a mess on the patio and left without giving me a key to the door (it has a key lock on the outside). I called the owner and he said the guy who handles service will call me. He didn't call by the end of the week. I'll call the owner again tomorrow. The windows themselves may prove to be excellent, as promised, though it's too early to tell. From day one the service has been terrible. I regret signing the contract and not canceling it, even if that meant going to court. I'll never do business with Prestige Home Improvement again.
Description of Work: The company installed high end energy-efficient windows in my condo. They replaced the windows in the living room, the sliding glass door in the dining room, and the windows in the two bedrooms.

An individual professionally dressed approached me at my open garage. He represented Prestige Home Improvement (PHI) and had an identification card around his neck. I was close to contacting contractors on Angie's List for estimates on replacing counter tops in two of my bathrooms. Through this PHI individual I set up an appointment for the following Monday. I was assured that I would be contacted the day before the appointment (that would be Saturday) to confirm my Monday appointment. PHI did not contact me on Saturday nor did PHI show up for the Monday appointment.
Description of Work: No services were performed. The contractor didn't show up to provide me with an estimate at the agreed upon time.
