This constructon was challenging because of the tight tolerances in alignment with two existing walls of the house and because the elevator hoistway had to cut into an existing deck. Once the architectural plans were complete, he had them reviewed and approved by a licensed architect. He also obtained all required city (Virginia Beach) permits for the construction. Mr. Beale's knowledge of building codes and techniques, both residential and commercial is thorough and comprehensive. Mr Beale effectively scheduled and contracted for the cement work for the foundation and oversaw their work. This was a critical element as the foundation had to be square with the house and within one inch in placement with existing two walls of the house. Because of his attention to detail, these tight tolerances were met - on schedule. Framing was next. Framing for the elevator hoistway had to be exactly plumb and square. Again, Ocean Shore Construction Construction and Jim Beale came through. The framing crew he hired was professional and extremely quick. The quality of their work was impeccable. Mr. Beale paid attention to every detail. For example, he made sure the sill plates were properly caulked during installation - a fairly new construction requirement and one that is hard to verify after construction. Mr. Beale then brought in the electricans to install the needed dedicated electrical circuits which was followed by the insulators and drywall crew. Everything went without a hitch and was done to the schedule promisted.l installers. Mr. Beale also coordinated with the elevator company on dates for needed inspections. When the elevator company (Area Access) came to install the elevator, the representative stated that he had never seen a better hoistway (elevator shaft) construction. Everything was plumb and square. No shims were necessary when installing the elevator rails. Because of the quality of the hoistway construction, the elevator is extremely quiet in operation. I could not be happier with the construction work and professionalism of Mr. Beale and Ocean Shore Construction. Being a professional engineer myself, I am a perfectionist - I want things done right with no cut corners. Ocean Shore Construction met my demanding expectations. Simply put, Jim Beale and Ocean Shore Construction is the best.
