He replaced the lighting in the dining/living room areas. I had to have him come over a number of times to replace the switch plates. This was quoted at $475 at this point. This required a number of calls and consistently it was at his convenience. I asked him to assist me with some Roman shades of which he told me I could pay him whatever I wanted. I asked him to drop the ceiling fans down and put them up, and he did this after numerous calls--no charge was discussed and I figured it would be for the 'whatever' amount. Things changed, however, and he came up with a figure of $175. I was shocked. I had planned to pay him 'whatever' I felt right about and then he changed the tables. I feel this is dishonest and unprofessional on his part. After this discussion, I called the electrician he was allegedly working under. However, in the Virginia, an individual can NOT WORK UNDER SOMEONE ELSE'S license!! For work under $1,000, that person must have a Master Card as a Journeyman. Anything over $1,000, that person MUST be licensed by the state, either individual or company contractor Class C minimum license. I found out Mike does not even have a Master Card and can not work under another electrician's license.
