For the most part, the crew was very professional and hard working...there were a few exceptions to that rule, but not enough to keep us from using them again. Mike is good to work with, and we appreciate his efforts to make sure everything was done.

Mike and his crew were referred to me three years ago by my sales rep at Ethan Allen (no relation!) and I couldn't be happier. Each time I call them for a job, Mike, his brother Joe and their entire team are always knowledgeable, polite and industrious. Thus far they have painted seven rooms in my home and this June they painted the entire exterior. And I'm about to call them for yet another project!

We have used MA Allen for both interior and exterior house painting for over 10 years at our current home. They have always done an excellent job. Mike isn't the lowest priced contractor, but his prices are reasonable and you get quality work. On the few occasions when we have found things that we wanted touched up or repainted, Mike re-did the work without question. On this project, they repainted the entire interior of an older 2800 square foot house -- walls, ceilings, trim and doors. They started and completed the job right on the advertised schedule. Based on our 10+ years of experience using MA Allen, including the most recent work (July 2014) if you want a quality painting job done at a reasonable price, you can't go wrong with Mike Allen.

I contacted Mr. Allen through Angie's list on May 1 to get a estimate to have some rooms painted in my home I did advise Mr. Allen that I was in California at the time but my home that I want to have painted was in Virginia. I gave in depth details of what I want to have done in the message and let him know when I was going to be in Virginia with the date and time . This was his reply below ; Mrs.Hill, I would be glad to meet you and set up a time May 12th towards end of day, maybe 4:00-5:00 to do an estimate for you. He call back and advise me that he did not have me on his schedule and he didn't have any opening until May 15 and he couldn't fit me in. What kind of customer service if that? POOR I say

Great! Talk about excellent customer service! Not only were Rick and Sam punctual, courteous, efficient, effective and competent but they also engaged in adding many little extras - touched up a wall that needed a little repainting, replaced an air filter and cleaned the grill over it and cleaned the skylight for me. They worked hard continuously throughout the day. I have had very little luck with painters in the past and I feel like I hit the jackpot with this company.....thank you so much!

Michael Allen's Custom Painting Team worked on my home for two weeks, and we couldn't be happier. There was a team of what seemed like a dozen professionals. Wallpaper: They did a quick and effective job of stripping some very old wallpaper. They were able to remove some old mirrors and then remove the wallpaper under the mirrors and paint the drywall. It looked great! Painting: All the rooms, ceilings and doors were painted. Michael was very detailed oriented to ensure that the proper paint colors were applied in the proper areas. His crew were very professional, and they made some suggestions to me for painting items in the room that did not occur to me, but I did not receive an additional charge. The team was very responsive to all of my requests. The house was transformed to our dream home. Plaster: the plaster on some walls and floors was floated and smoothed. The work was done professionally, and we are extremely satisfied with the results. Overall: Most of the crew on the team have worked for this company for many years, and the quality shows. I highly recommend hiring Michael Allen for all of your painting, wallpaper removal and plaster work. This was the second time that I hired MA Allen Custom Painting, and I am glad that i chose this company.

Mike Allen's Custom Painting is a truely professional company that provides quality service and workmanship in completing the painting of my condo / townhome. Work was performed over the Christmas and New Year holidays and was completed within the timeline desired. What was great about this company was that the same, core group to perform the painting came every day, not a new person every day. They were ringing the door bell at 8:00am (as planned) ready to go to work and were finishing / cleaning up at 4:30pm so that they were done by 5:00pm when we got home. You could tell that Mike's guys have worked for his company and each other for a very long time as they were well coordinated in their planning of what was to get done each day and shared a unique camaradrie, not unlike what is found in the military. Mike offered really good suggestions for getting the painting done plus his crew offered several enhancements to make several areas of what was to be painted better than what was planned. All of the crew were respectful and congenial to what we wanted / needed to get done. They repaired holes in walls, cut in windows, doors, and ceilings with straight lines and really took care of the little things that mattered. The best part of it all was the cost. I requested three quotes from three professional painting companies on Angie's List and Mike's quote was significantly lower than the other two painting companies. For the price, I believe I got more "bang for my buck". Thank you Mike, Dave, Rick, Atule, Chewie, Steve and Blake for doing a great job on our house. Thumbs up! When I need painting again, the extremely professional M.A. Allen Cusom Painting will be the company I will call. The painters kept the property as neat and clean as possible, and their painting expertise shows in all their work. Before the painters came in, another company was here to do some ceiling work. When they moved furniture, they piled everything together, without any consideration for things that were fragile. Five objects were broken (I didn't realize this until I tried to move the pile of my belongings). Mike Allen took it upon himself to help me fix these objects. Mike was available if I had any questions, or if I wanted to change colors. He was in my house, several times, to make sure that the work was done properly. I couldn't have asked for a better company, andI am happy that I found A.M Allen Custom Painting.

Mr. Allen was prompt and attentive in responding to our request for an estimate. His cost estimate was competitive. The painting was accomplished on an agreed to schedule which was honored without any problems. Workers were respectful of owner's property and accommodating in addressing their specific needs and desires. Quality workmanship throughout without any need for call backs and no additional charges. Overall, a most pleasant experience. I would highly recommend M A Allen Custom Painting, and will use them again for any additional painting needs.

A great company! Our house looks fantastic! The owner, Mike, came to the estimate and was pleasant and his price was very compatitive. He assigned a painter, Kenny, who worked meticulously and cleanly. We had to reschedule a couple of times to work around the flooring company refinishing our floor and they were very flexible. I highly recommend this company for any pain job around the house.

The work was nice. They painted 3000 square feet at $4000. They were very punctual, professional and courteous. They went outside of their job detail to help us take out a screw out the wall and other things. They were willing to be of service.

We had a miscommunication about the paint colors and when I called to let him know I wasn't crazy about the color of the walls, Mike immediately ran out to buy the correct paint and came the next day to repaint the entire room.

all went very well, they were punctual and professional. I bought new light fixtures and curtain rods which they hung. Everything is wonderful.

The owner of the company, Mr. Allen, came to our home and provided an estimate of all the work we needed performed. We contacted him when we were ready to begin and he set-up a time and date to start work. The two young men he sent for the job were friendly and professional. They arrive on time and complete all the work within one day. This was just the beginning of the work we plan to have done within the next few month. We will definitely be using the same company again.

The painters worked hard. They were courteous and clean. They were polite and humorous. They are just excellent painters.

Mike Allen was called on May 3rd. He came to check out the jobs we requested and wrote out a proposal on the 4th. We called him on the 5th to accept his bid and work began on the 10th. Rick and Tim were the 2 main painters each day. Twice a 3rd painter was called in to help out. I would hire them again with no questions asked. Rick showed up each day at 8 a.m. and began his job. He worked until 4:30 or 5 p.m. daily. There was never any mess left behind. Each night the men cleaned up the drop cloths and paint cans. They took extra care to cover any furniture with plastic as well as the kitchen appliances and cabinets. The walls which had wall paper on them needed to be sanded before painting and the doorways were covered with plastic as well to keep the dust within the room. At the end of 7 working days, the jobs were complete and we were very happy with the outcome. Rich even took the vacuum and cleaned all the carpets, dusted off the moldings and Tim took Pine Sol to wash the foyer and kitchen floors. Mirrors were removed and re-hung as well as towel bars. Every switch plate and outlet cover were removed and replaced as well. The men took very good care of everything as if it were their own home.

They were excellent. They were very punctual.

Work began prior to Thanksgiving. The downstairs was completed by early December. They worked around our schedule for the holidays and returned to do the upstairs in early January, completing the job mid January. They were on time, courteous, neat, and very knowledgeable and professional at all times. Although the price was a little high, the quality of their work was superior. We are going to use them in the near future to do some outside painting.
