There was a hand print of paint smeared on the wall. The metal door frames were painted a dark brown. the paint was clearly spilled over onto the tan colored wall above the door. There were several spots that were missing paint altogether on the sides of the jam and needed to be repainted. The half wall had primer on the ledge, but no pain to cover the primer. Paint from the primer bled over onto the walls. There were two large square areas on the wall that were clearly primed and then painted a peach color that did not match the rest of the wall (Kevin was supposed to have matched up the paint color). Rather than contacting us to let us know that he had difficulty matching the paint, or getting the color modified, he just painted a big square of mismatched paint on the wall. He did not use any vacuum or sander to clean up the paint that he sanded off the door jams. There was paint everywhere. When we contacted him about the mess, he wouldn't return phone calls for over a week. I had to pay a cleaning crew $700 to clean up the mess, then paid another painter $545 to finish the job. We only authorized him to charge our credit card for the deposit, and we were going to pay the balance by check. He fraudulently charged the additional amount on the day he completed the work, without even asking. When I called him for the fourth time about the job being incomplete and being a mess, and threatened to dispute the charges with my credit card company, he called me back and acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. He refused to refund any charges. I am in the process of disputing the charges with our credit card company. I have photos of the mess. Beware!
Description of Work: He was paid to paint and touch up paint in our office location over the weekend. He started on May 23, and finished on May 24 at 11:16 pm, at which time he called our office supervisor and stated "the office was a huge mess but isn't too bad now". We walked into an enormous mess all over the office. He didn't clean up any of the dust, and huge marks on the walls. The paint was a mess; he had the trim paint all over the walls, spilled on the carpets, and the flooring. There a hand print of pain

He had his stepson with him as a trainee. His stepson was sent to do the bathroom ceiling. After a few attempts to sand it, Kevin informed me that he was unable to do this job. He told me he knew of someone able to do it. His stepson installed the two bathroom outlets. Unfortunately, I had to clean up the wire strippings and copper from sinks and floors. Stepson removed the cover for vent and exhaust fan in the bathroom. The covers are still off and the exhaust fan has not been installed. In the kitchen, the wall behind two cabinets looked like termite damage. I told Kevin I would have someone come out since he was not supposed to return until Friday. He was at the house for maybe two hours. He hauled off anything he couldn't put in my trash bin and left a lot of debris on my front patio and curbside. Yeah! On Thursday I had exterminators come out (found on Angie's List), inspect the home, and treat the house. I contacted Kevin to come open up the wall to determine if termites were active. He showed on Thursday evening, opened the wall and closed it before I could even look inside. He stated there were no active termites in the stud. Ok...so, I expected him to mud the walls Thursday since Friday was scheduled install. Well, he didn't have the mud and therefore could not do it Thursday. Yes, I'm ticked at this point. Before he left Thursday, I verified that I was on the schedule for Friday (as originally scheduled). His stepson told him that I was the only thing scheduled for Friday (as it should have been). He told me that he would be over Friday to mud the walls so I could paint and the cabinets could be installed on Monday. He stated he would be here around 10 am. Well, I received a text at 10:17 stating he was running behind and would text me when he was on the way. Next text was at 12:17 stating he was on the way to hardware store and then coming to my place. Now, I'm really peeved, and I have an appointment scheduled at 1:00 (because I expected him to be done by noon). I informed him I was unavailable until 3. I arrived home a little before 3 and have not heard from him. I sent him a text around 4pm and he did not respond. I called at 5:30 and got his voice mail. So, it's Friday and I do not have my kitchen walls repaired, no cabinets in my kitchen, no use of the dishwasher/sink/disposal, and no exhaust fan. Now I get to contact one of the other companies I declined and try to get into their schedule for next week. And try to get my deposit returned. The next day (July 20) I contacted Kevin via text to ask for my deposit to be returned since he had not held up his end of the agreement. He pretended like he didn?t know what was going on. He informed me of having to stay overnight in a hospital. I understand situations happen, but he did not explain how I was his only job on Friday and he was unable to contact me or complete the job according to the promises and scheduled timeframe. I asked if he could complete the rest of the jobs by Monday. He stated he would and he would not leave the job incomplete. I contacted BBB and Angieslist to rescind my complaints as I presumed he was attempting to turn around his negative history with customers. I shouldn?t have done that. On Monday, I was excited to know this job would be done finally. I contacted him early Monday morning to find out when he would be over and he told me he was loading the truck and would be over shortly. He showed up 2 hours later, around 11 am. He had the stepson complete the exhaust fan install. This ticked me off because no prep work was done and no sheeting put down beforehand. The 15 year old stepson got insulation and drywall dust all over my bathroom. So, I had the joy of being angrier and cleaning my entire bathroom to remove the dust, dirt, insulation, old fan, etc. In the kitchen, I noticed he had installed the wall and base cabinets, but there was a gap between wall cabinets on left side of the kitchen and a gap between an end wall and cabinet on the right side of the kitchen. In addition, the wall filler needed to be put in. He was gone by 3pm. He stated he would return to finish on Tuesday including correcting the gaps, installing the filer, countertops, and pressure washing. Reluctantly, I agreed again citing his completion of the entire project on Tuesday, July 23. I should have recognized his stalling tactics by now, but I wanted to get this done. On Tuesday, I called and left voicemails and a text message inquiring when he would be over on to complete the job. I didn?t hear from him until two hours later. He sent a text stating he was going to have the pressure washing done and would finish kitchen work on Wednesday. I was angry by then because this was not what we agreed to before he left on Monday afternoon. He had no explanation for this arbitrary change in schedule. At this point, I became fed up, and told him that I would figure something else out and my house was no longer his concern. He informed me that he would complete the job on Wednesday. Because I had repeatedly heard this mantra before and his random decision to change the schedule without consulting me, I no longer trusted him and informed him of this. Additionally, he decided to increase the price of the job, despite not completing the items in the contract. The contract I signed had $1399 for the total job including pressure washing, bathroom ceiling, etc. He sent a text citing it was now $1468.95 as the final bill. Oh, and this is after a 10% discount and not being able or willing to complete the jobs agreed upon. Now I need to find someone to fix the gaps, take care of the bathroom ceiling, finish installing countertops/sink/disposal/range exhaust, and power wash the house. Kevin does not live up to his word, will change on the customer at his convenience without regard for the customers? inconvenience of waiting around all day for him to show up, provides lousy customer service. The kicker is he may or may not show up to perform the work and you, as the customer will be left waiting. I highly recommend everyone AVOID THIS HANDYMAN LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
Description of Work: he was hired to deinstall old cabinets, install 10 new kitchen cabinets, replace exhaust fan, drywall repairs in kitchen, reconnect appliances/sink/disposal, powerwash house sand/plaster bathroom ceiling.

My husband and I contacted Kevin to do some repairs around our home in order to get the home ready for sale. Kevin answered his phone right away and came out the next morning. Although Kevin was really nice and his estimate was fair, he only returned our call once when we were trying to set a start date and time. After we left several voice mails explaining the importance of him calling ua back we decided not to use him. We feel if you can not answer your phone or return calls then your work is probably unreliable too. I would NOT recommend Kevin's Handyman Service!!!

Description of Work: Replaced the interior of a toiletExposed the jetted tub accescaulked a window and painted kilz on the spot with water damagecaulked a hole in a doorcapped off exposed wires Although Kevin was nice, quite handy while on the job and professional; once the job required a part to be ordered that is when things broke down. Kevin required payment for the part before the work was performed. I made the mistake of also paying for the service since it was going to happen pretty quickly. Kevin ordered the part and then I waited and waited to hear from him. After not hearing from him for more than a week; I contacted him and provided me with the order tracking information. THe company he ordered from said same day shipping so my guess is the part was not ordered for several days. This job needed to complete because it was hinging on the closing of a home. Kevin missed the delivery Sat. morning and then told me he received it late Sat. night. When I contacted him and told him ANYTIME between Sunday and Monday I would meet him to have the work done I was hit with excuses. It was Father's day - ok I get that. So then he said Monday and he would let me know. So I am a realtor and have 2 kids now out of school; does Kevin think that I don't have a schedule to my day. I waited ALL day Monday - while repeatedly calling, emailing and texting with NO response. He did not respond until 12:15 am on Tuesday morning that he told me he had another job. Yeah - he did but he also told me he would meet me and totally blew me off. Needless to say - I fired him and got the parts from him (since my client paid for them) and I will have a reputable company do the job. I hope that Kevin will refund the labor charges that my clients paid in advance.......time will tell. So all this being said, all Kevin had to do was say he messed up and do the job. As an owner I would have offered to do the job for free because that shows that he wants to please his customers. Kevin also left two bags of debris in the property that I had to take care of. I had to sand a place that he covered, I had to paint a place that he kilzed and I had to vacuum up his mess. I DO NOT recommend him. I was looking for a reputable company to handle properties that I list and sell. This guy will not be my guy- his loss!
