"We try very hard to educate our customers every time we visit a lawn. This particular customer has a warm season turfgrass lawn called st Augustine. At this point during the season when she called to schedule her big deal service, the entire lawn is brown! It doesn't begin greening up until the weather warms. The only green in the lawn were the weeds growing throughout the lawn. The big deal she purchased was for a weed control and a turf management plan. I told the customer that I could not diagnose the problem at that time for 2 reasons. 1)The entire yard was brown(except the weeds), I cannot diagnose the cause of a brown spot when the entire yard is brown and dormant due to it being a warm season grass in the cooler months. I cannot autopsy a lawn. 2)She told me that the spot turned brown in the summer months, when everything else is green. I explained to the customer that many things can turn a patch brown in the summer, such as: Disease, Insect infestation, chemical damage, dog urine and many more. As the browning occurs there are many ways to determine which of these problems cause the issue (such as determining whether there are lesions present, insect above or below ground, whether it is a rust colored brown or a tan colored brown.) I explained that I would be more than happy to come back when the grass warmed up, completely free of charge, and diagnose the problem at that time, when diagnosis was possible. It wasn't that I was unwilling or unable to help her with the problem, it just wasn't the correct time to do so with a warm season turf grass. The reason her lawn looks worse than anyone else in the neighborhood is that everyone on her street has fescue grass, which is green this time of year. Her St Augustine is still brown, combined with the fact that the weeds that were showing some green in her lawn are now dead and dying. So her lawn is still dormant due to the type of grass she has, and the weeds are ugly as they die. I apologize that she didn't understand our explanation, I wish she would have asked any questions she had so that I could have cleared up any concerns she had. The weed control was effective, which is what she paid for. We are always happy to explain any service or concern at any time. When a customer has a warm season turfgrass, it doesn't look good until the summer. This particulars customer will look much better in a month or two."

"This is a categorically false review. We have been a member of angies list since 2006 and have never had a bad review. In an effort to gain more reviews from our customers we did offer a $10 credit toward any future service if the customer left ANY rated review here. This includes [member name removed] "F" rated review. He qualifies for the same discount on future services for his "F" rated review as anyone who left an "A" rated review. We never "buy" good reviews. In the letter to our customers, we specifically state that if a customer does not believe we deserve an "A" rating to please contact us and let us know what we can do to earn that "A" rating. You can ask any of the other customers who leave us reviews if we paid them for them, and they will all tell you that he is incorrect. I am sorry that the customer feels this way and that he chose to do what he did rather than call us to discuss it with us. Our offer was for any rated review, not only the good ones. This particular customer has been a customer for almost 3 years, and you will see that he has never bothered to leave a review until now. If he felt we are such a bad company, why hasn't he left a review as such for almost 3 years? Why would he have continued services for all of that time? Why hasn't he left us any review before now? People have busy lives, and they don't always have time to leave reviews. This customer did not, as most others do not. This is why we offered this discount. To give people the incentive and make it worth their while to leave a review, ANY review. This customer is the prime example of that. In 3 years of doing business he never bothered to leave us any review before, good, bad or otherwise. He didn't take the time to tell you what he thought. Until we offered an incentive for him to review. I guess it worked, he finally took the time to leave us a review :)"

After her first treatment, last December, we never received the service agreement to continue service that she sent in the mail. Since payment for that service wasn't received until 90 days after the service was completed we had assumed that she wished to discontinue her service. After reading her review, we contacted her the same day and have rescheduled service with her. We never contact customers over and over in an attempt to get them to continue service.
