"We haven't done work for this person in 3 years! It was in 2017! Fungus is a very common problem in fescue lawns. We do offer prophylactic fungicide programs for it. Due to the significant expense of these products, & the fact that they need to be put down every 21 days throughout the summer(which is why his initial application of DIY worked and then the problem came back), most clients choose against them. Several companies offer these programs, all of which do so at added cost. Most importantly, the "expert" information he is receiving now, 3 YEARS after we stopped service is totally inaccurate and should be researched by him before regurgitating it here in an attempt to bring our ratings down. Disease is not caused by overwatering, but by moisture on the lawn during heat. Afternoon showers of only 10 minutes before the sun returns cause the majority of our lawn disease, because it creates dampness during the heat of the day. We are currently experiencing significant drought stress to our lawns here, yet are seeing disease because the showers aren't enough to help the lawn be adequately watered, but are dampening the top of the lawn at the heat of the day. Also, anyone recommending a "soil replacement" to get rid of lawn fungus has NO IDEA what they're talking about. Spores are everywhere & even if you replaced the entire lawn, disease can still happen as soon as grass grows. Instead of believing an "expert" at a garden center (who coincidentally sells topsoil), do the research somewhere that does turf sciences for a living, like the VA or NC extension agency. Here's a link to learn all about lawn disease from real experts. (notice southern blight doesn't even affect fescue) https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/diseases-of-cool-season-grasses Lastly, 100# of limestone WAS applied on 2/22/17. There was a delay initially due to a misunderstanding between the client & I. As soon as that was brought to my attention, it was done. 4 months later,(6/21/17) he even called to compliment the work being done in his yard."
"We appreciate the "B" rated review. We strive very hard to make sure that every client is completely aware of the work to be performed in their lawn for the cost provided. I'm not sure why there was a misunderstanding here. From our very first description of the proposed project, to the contract that was signed, the description was the same, here is a direct copy and paste from that estimate & contract: "-Eradication of existing turf and weeds via 2 non selective herbicidal sprayings spaced 7-10 days or so apart -Chopping down of excess dead vegetation including raking/removal from the property once cut down. Often we will ask the client to mow 1-2 times throughout this process to reduce excess grass and improve weed control effectiveness -Installation of a thin layer of compost/ topsoil mixture throughout the area to enhance smoothness as well as organic growing medium beneath the sod -Installation of freshly cut Bermuda sod throughout the front yard -Hand trimming of all sod for optimal coverage and aesthetics" This is an extremely common means of installing sod & results in far more thorough eradication of the existing weeds. Simply scraping off the top layer does little for weeds, most of which have rhizomes that extend well below the 1-2" that would be removed. No sod preparation will pevent new weeds growth in the future, but this method kills 100% of the weeds and grass that are present at the time of sod installation. Regular maintenance plans to keep the grass healthy, green and weed free are always needed. Installation of sod is not a permanent replacement for lawn care, it simply provides you a beautiful, thick lawn instantly, instead of waiting years for it. We've been in communication with the client several times since the installation to update them on changing watering needs as the weather varies. We're happy that the lawn looks great and are happy to provide the program for lawn care that was detailed out during our initial estimate if the client would like to keep the lawn green & weed free."

"The title of this particular customer review should be changed to “winter weed spraying”. What he neglects to mention is the timing of his repeated requests for weed control service. He called 4 times from mid December to February asking for weeds to be sprayed. Every time he was told that the weed control Won’t be effective until the ground temperatures warm up. The reason he had to wait 4 weeks until the next treatment is because that’s as early as we could do it and it actually work. I promised him repeatedly that he would be the very first client done the very minute the treatment would be effective. Spraying it early would have resulted in me taking his money knowing the treatment would have zero effect on the weeds, which ethically I would not do and repeatedly conveyed to him. By the time he cancelled his service (and evidently called another provider), the weather was nearly warm enough. We never told him to wait for any reason other than getting his moneys worth on his service."
