Response from GUARANTEED GREENER GRASS & SECOND NATURE LANDSCAPE
This customer had previously left a review here a couple months ago. When they decided that they did not care for us responding with our side of the story, they took their previous review down so that our response would disappear as well and posted a new review. The ratings have also been lowered since their initial review. So I will again respond with our side of the story and see how long before this review is changed out as well. This customers seeding was completed 11 days before hurricane Matthew dumped more than a dozen inches of rain on this section of Virginia beach. Grass seed takes approx. 10-14 days to germinate, meaning another 7-10 days after germination before there is enough of a root system on it to withstand that amount of water from washing it down the bare dirt that was the majority of their lawn. Unfortunately there was a vast number of clients of many companies in the same situation after Matthew. We offered every client the same option of re-seeding their lawn completely free of any profit or labor charge, simply charging only the cost of the grass seed. And even that was at OUR cost of the grass seed which is less expensive than if the client purchased it themselves. The client's comment of not coming out after to look at the lawn is completely false, considering that after the storm we were asked to come evaluate the cost to repair tire tracks where someone had driven across their lawn when the flooding was too bad for them to stay on the road. So we most certainly saw the lawn after the storm and after the floodwaters receded. If the client was so intent that weather had nothing to do with the lack of results and that the job was done poorly, why did we not receive a complaint of the job until after the storm and even more so, why if we were such an inadequate company would they elicit another estimate for other services? The bad review was placed after they declined our cost estimate to repair the tire tracks as being too much. In response to the angies list deal versus the cost quoted. The angies list ad stipulates a heavy seeding rate of 6-7# per 1000 square feet, which is twice the recommended rate for an established lawn. However, due to heavy tree cover, the customers lawn needed far more than that to begin establishment. More importantly, the client lived on a large corner lot whose square footage exceeded the angies list deal parameters. So we could not offer the deal without the additional charges clearly stated in the terms of the deal and therefore it would have been significantly more expensive. We also offer soil testing, the option is given to every client and some of our angies list deals for yearly maintenance contracts include it for free. We also leave tips and information on every treatment we perform for the client. This particular client received explicit watering and care instructions for the seed that was applied. I am glad that the client found a company that they are pleased with. Thankfully for the client, no other hurricanes or strong storms occurred after her second seeding she received with the new company. I am sorry that fact is overlooked in her comparison of results. We try very hard to satisfy every client we have (as evidenced by our more than 175 "A" rated reviews here as well as our being awarded Angies list super service award year after year). We try to work with those who are unsatisfied to find solutions that work for everyone involved and build long term relationships with each of our clients. We wish this client the best of luck in the future, we simply wanted to be sure that we clarified our position on some of the comments we felt were inaccurate in her review.
