We are writing to rave about Geoff's work. We had two projects; one was a small shower downstairs and one was a complete remodel upstairs. After seeing the shower Geoff rebuilt for us, we asked Geoff to work on the remodel. I must say in the small space to which Geoff had to work with, he did an amazing job. It went beyond our expections, in particular, the glass shower door. The tile work is beautiful so having the glass door really made it pop. As for our bigger project upstairs, the complete remodel, I think only photos can do it justice. We do want to add that Geoff was very patient with us and guided us with design ideas while being cautious not to push toward up selling. What was important to us is that Geoff addressed all our concerns; trying to minimize the impact to our house, constantly updating us, offering the 2nd job after the first job, and the high quality of his work. From the beginning to the end of the project, Geoff is always accessible. He called us, texted us and emailed us. Anyone who is looking for a contractor knows that is a rare quality. We highly recommend Geoff Byers and First Quality Contracting LLC.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to work for you, and your wonderful review. While there wasn't any opportunity to increase space in the rooms, the options of the finishes are nearly unlimited. This had been the owner's childhood home, and it was a pleasure to help her pick items and improve storage that gave her exactly what she wanted. Thank you again for your project and I'm looking forward to working for you again.

Geoff came and helped us figure out the simplest way to accomplish our goals; we essentially ended up turning our family room over the garage into a second master suite with a walk-in closet and bathroom. Price was reasonable, Geoff did most of the work himself, and he was THE MOST RELIABLE contractor we have used so far in terms of being there when he said he would be; he also came in slightly under his estimate in terms of cost. He got the permit and inspections done as well, never one hiccup.

Thank you for your wonderful review and kind words. We built a full bathroom where one did not exist, and brought plumbing from under the house up to the room over the garage to make it work, making everything look as if it was built that way the first time. The owner picked all the finish materials and gave me some latitude w installing them; I think the end result was stunning. Thank you for your project, and I'm looking forward to working for you again.

First and foremost, I want to say this review is mainly about my feelings of his professionalism. As homeowners, we were far too lenient with him and his requests for early payments, extending the timeline etc., I will take responsibility for that. This was a major addition to our home and I guess I expected a contractor willing to do the job would have the knowledge and desire to leave the job complete. We were constantly running into issues where I would have to go to Home Depot or whatever online service he recommended and purchase additional items. Only to be met with disapproval of my choices or push back. A few times, the wrong items were purchased and ended up in the garbage because they could not be returned. This project was broken into 2 contracts. The first was combining 2 bedrooms in the existing house and remodeling of a bathroom, plus changing out our oil heat to a new heat pump and gas water heater. Things went well, it was just Geoff and his "apprentice" that did a majority of the work. He had a plumber for the HVAC work and bath fixtures. Was happy for the most part with his design, made a couple of changes. He stuck with the timelines in the contract and finished in a relatively good time. A couple months later we started the addition to the house. There were a few weather delays that he could not help. He had a sub for the foundation and brick work but for everything else it was Geoff and his apprentice Daytron. What was supposed to be a 3-4 month job ending up taking 8 months and we were left with a lot of unfinished items. There was an unfortunate accident and after, Geoff didn't come around hardly at all. The deck was left to Daytron to do who said he had never done one before. It's a nice deck but there are a lot of items that needed addressing and never were. Geoff did all the electrical work then his electrician would come to finalize everything. A lot of times, that electrician was very unreliable. One night he was down working in our basement until 10pm. The overall design he came up with for the addition was great. He talked us into providing my mother's room with a handicap accessible bath and walk in shower. Thank goodness he did because after her accident, she was unable to walk for 2 months. He has good ideas, cannot fault that. What I do fault the most are the little issues. We were constantly making changes in the scope of work because for whatever reason, they weren't thought of or included in the original contract. Things like additional trim paint to match the new or painting of existing doors to match the paint in the new hall, etc. Again, on a job of this size and cost, I expected the contractor to be aware of all the little things. The biggest mistake, there was an air conditioning vent in front of the window that became the doorway to the new addition. For whatever reason, that was not considered for relocation. Only after my mother got hurt, I had to insist on it being moved. In the 2 years since completion of this project, I've had the HVAC serviced 5 times, had to hire a structural engineer to find out why the walls were cracking and doors no longer closed properly. I realize there is settling but it cracked within a year of building. This particular door was adjusted by Geoff on several occasions. Had to hire and pay, another contractor to fix the crack, which has since reopened, and do the finishing of drywall and trim in an existing room that was remodeled because of the addition. Buyer beware.

This was an extensive, two-part project, as the customer noted. All structural elements were designed by an engineer and built to those standards, and all inspections were passed. I kept the customer involved with daily progress updates, and kept them informed of future plans and goals. After 14 years in business, I’m not immune to creating an unsatisfied customer, and it’s defeating on the rare occasion when it happens. I wish them the best.

Geoff and his network of highly skilled, certified specialists were amazing to work with. Geoff is not just a contractor, he is a designer with a vision who helped us make the right decisions for our home, while keeping with our own style. If he were an HGTV personality, it would be Holmes. He makes sure everything is done correctly the first time, with high-quality materials that will last forever, and my favorite part, he explained the how and why throughout the process. He is knowledgeable, honest, timely and just so good at what he does. His work is clearly a passion, and it shows in every detail. With only a copper sink as inspiration, he changed my 1990's kitchen into a timeless work of art that is as beautiful and interesting as it is functional. He reconfigured a large piece of my house to accommodate a laundry room and and turned a half bath with minimal space into a modern full bath, without making it feel small. I can't say enough great things about working with him. And, while it may not matter to some, it mattered to me - Geoff is a nice, personable guy who I liked having in my home, as was every specialist he chooses to work with. He was respectful of our space, and cleaned up the work space at the end of every day. He was open to adding to his already significant workload with projects that popped up as we were moving in and figuring out how we wanted the house to look. It got to the point that I ran every idea by him and he never once made me feel like I was a bother because he cared and had a vision. About halfway through the initial kitchen/bath/laundry project, we decided to redo the all brick fireplace hearth. Geoff knew exactly what would look perfect, and was able to give us a stone fireplace, with granite mantle without significantly pushing back the timeline. It looks perfect, and he even took into account my dog when choosing the threshold material around the base (because the dog's nails would scratch up a wood piece). Just little things like that, the caring, the attention to detail, the situational awareness that Geoff has makes him the correct choice. He also identified other issues in my home (older home) that could eventually cause issues and offered solutions. Not trying to sell us anything, but just helping us be better home owners and letting us know what to look out for. I am so glad our paths crossed, I can't imagine working with anyone else, and I am so excited work with him on the next project.!

Wow, thank you for such kind words! This project was a rewarding experience, from start to finish. The owners have very specific, and at times, opposing tastes in style, making the fixture and material selections something rather unique. The house was extremely well built, but had some practicality issues that were overlooked during initial construction. Delivering a final product that made those corrections, and displayed the owners poignant style at the same and being part of their satisfaction with the product, and seeing them love their new home even more could not have been more gratifying, and I'm looking forward to the next project with them!

With the positive reviews, we hoped to receive an estimate for an upcoming bathroom remodeling project. Contractor was very helpful, forthright and attentive. Showed up on time, cleaned up and removed work debris daily. Contractor communicated well throughout the entire job, kept us informed on the progress. The job was estimated to take a little over 30 days, it ran a little bit over due to the glass for the new walk in shower showed up and was the wrong size and had to be re-made. Finished project is outstanding and first class workmanship.

Once again, Geoff hit it out of the park! His design, materials selection, and workmanship were all exceptional quality. As he did with my guest bath, he turned my 1950's master bath into a 21st century spa. In addition, he did not hesitate to help me with other small projects around my house, to include installing recessed lighting in my hallway. I will definitely keep Geoff's number on speed dial for future projects!

Geoff Byers transformed my kitchen far beyond my imagination and gave me a drool-worthy master bathroom that captures the attention of all who see it. I first contacted him with my idea for moving the refrigerator back into the kitchen from the pantry/utility room where the previous owner put it, relocating the washer & dryer, and making one of two bathrooms wheelchair accessible (for potential future needs). After asking him whether I was wasting my time and money or not, Geoff presented me with a few alternative designs a couple weeks later. We went from there. The work included tearing out a small bathroom; demolishing a brick fireplace from chimney down to subfloor foundation; relocating sliding glass doors and the hot water heater; walling off two doorways and creating four new ones; and reconfiguring the pantry/utility room into a nice laundry area, utility closet, and short hallway. Geoff used the space from the small bathroom tearout to expand the original kitchen area. He added the space from the demolished fireplace to what was left from the general kitchen area to create a brand new master bathroom with attached large closet. (Don’t worry-- he put a wall between the new kitchen and bathroom!) The kitchen’s new footprint now allows for double the cabinet space that I had before, an additional pantry cabinet, and room for a table and chairs. It also includes two beautiful garden windows. Oh, and the refrigerator is in there, too. The new master bathroom includes a double vanity and a curbless tiled shower. Originally planned to have glass doors, the shower is so large—seriously, it’s big enough for three people—that the doors became unnecessary. The attached clothes closet is nearly the size of the small bathroom that was torn out to expand the kitchen. Geoff’s experience and background enable him to offer design ideas or troubleshoot your own. Additionally, he is not shy about telling you what he thinks about your plans if you ask him. If yours is the only job that he has scheduled at the time, Geoff will be on-site every day, all day, and actively working. Even when jobs overlap, you will see him regularly. If he hits an unexpected roadblock, he has the know-how to blow through it with minimal delay…or none at all. He has one primary assistant, and the plumber, electrician, and drywall person that he uses are skilled and respectful. If you are interested in a summary of the work that has been accomplished each day, Geoff will patiently walk you through a “show and tell” before he leaves. Just let him know that is what you want. He will also tell you what the future steps are—for the next day, the next week, or the project overall. Furthermore, he is quick to respond to any communications that you send him. Texting worked best for us. I am extremely pleased with the work that Geoff did and the dreamy spaces that he created for me. They far exceed anything that I could have imagined when I first began to look for a contractor. You too will be happy with the final results if you hire him. Geoff Byers is the increasingly rare contractor who is extremely skilled at what he does and refreshingly ethical in his treatment of the client.

Thank you so much for the absolutely glowing review! [Member Name Removed] contacted me about her proposed renovations; she owns a traditional post-war ranch that a previous owner put an addition on that was half the size of the original house. The previous owner gained an extra bathroom in the process, but not much else, as in essence, half of the square footage added was "hallway space". We "gutted" the original addition, and relocated her kitchen to one end, more than doubling her cabinet storage, and tripling her counter space, and gave her a cozy dining area as well. The space in the original house for the kitchen was turned into a laundry room, water heater closet, and hallway to get to the kitchen. The other end of the addition was turned into a handicap accessible bathroom with the proper sized doors and barrier-free shower. If the day ever comes that a wheel chair will be used in that space, only minimal work needs to be done to fully accommodate it. It was an absolute thrill to work for [Member Name Removed] from the very beginning in the planning phase, all the way though the end, helping to bring her vision to life.

My wife and I interviewed several contractors before settling on First Quality Contracting. Geoff was the only contractor who drafted a computer drawing of our kitchen design so we could visualize what our kitchen would look like once completed. Geoff made it easy for us to pick out out our color scheme, granite, cabinets and hardware. During our project, we would message Geoff with questions, and he respond promptly. In addition to this, Geoff would swing by the house if we needed to discuss issues in person. In the end, my wife and I were very satisfied with the final product. Geoff does quality work at a very affordable price. Even our two year old son knows Geoff by his first name! We look forward to working with Geoff in the future on our remaining home renovation projects.

Thank you for the very nice review! This was a really neat job- I met with the customers, and they had some ideas, and some lay out problems they needed resolved. I came up with a plan that maximized the use of their available square footage, and dramatically improved the "flow" of the space. I relocated a doorway, and closed off another one, and they selected a floor tile installed with a pattern, unstained cherry wood cabinets, and a light granite countertop with a soft "flowing" pattern. The finished product looks very classy without being trendy, and is exactly what one would expect to see in an upper scale neighborhood such as theirs. Thank you for selecting me, and I look forward to working for you again in the future!

Thank you for a wonderful review! The customer called me to discuss remodeling a master and hall bathroom. Both bathrooms were of "standard size" but they had serious issues with storage, and the "tight feel" of the spaces. They had "half of the idea", but weren't sure how to make the other half work. I helped them with fixture and finish selection, and was awarded the job. It was a pleasure to work for them, and it's somewhat disappointing to know there isn't any other work their house needs!

Thank you for the nice review! I mostly do interiors, so it was nice to be able to change it up with an exterior job. The customer wanted a concrete patio, and a covered porch that they could complete construction on and turn into a screened in porch. Unfortunately, the concrete that was delivered for the covered portion wasn't adequate for it's purpose. Rather than remove it and re-pour it, I offered to tile it for them at no extra charge. They were very satisfied with the end result, and it looked much more finished than what was originally planned.

Thank you so much for the glowing review and hiring me for the job in the first place! The customer bought a house that a previous owner had done some remodel and addition work to. Some of this work turned a bedroom into a laundry and unfinished closet. The existing master bath was a shower stall and pedestal sink in a small, 30 square foot area. The floor and walls were severely rotted. I converted the existing master bath and turned it into a walk-in closet. I divided the old bedroom and turned it into a small linen closet, a larger 50 square foot walk-in closet, and an 80 square foot master bath w/ double sink vanity, pantry cabinet storage, a large shower with linear drain and a Solatube "skylight". There were several other repairs and upgrades I performed, some were rather urgent. It was an absolute thrill to present ideas the customer never considered and then build them, and I'm looking forward to the next job with him!

Outstanding! From the initial price quote to the final cleanup, Geoff was the consummate professional. His design, workmanship, materials and commitment to the job were top notch. I was out of town for almost all of the renovation and he kept me posted with photos and text messages for the duration of the project. His price quote was far below the others I received and he offered more. He changed the footprint of my 60-year-old bathroom, took the entire room down to the studs/joists, and gave me a 21st century finished product! I am so happy with Geoff's work that he is about to begin renovating my master bath.

The space was rather large for a guest bath, and I wanted to better utilize the room, and select materials and finishes that they might have used when the house was built in the 50s. It was really a showcase type of job for me, and I can't thank her enough for hiring me to do it for her!

Thank you so much for the review! This job was supposed to only have been a shower replacement, but expanded into a whole bathroom remodel. It was a pleasure updating your bathroom to something much more contemporary with better lighting and a more spacious feel.

Geoff provided a design that gave us the look and storage space we needed to revamp both our bathrooms giving us a bigger shower and larger tub. He did all the work himself and completed the project in a timely manner. We have been very happy with the results and are enjoying our new more up to date bathrooms.

Thank you so much for the review! This job was a chance to update a customer's classic ranch house with a more contemporary look without going over the top, and give them a much improved space in the process. Thank you so much for hiring me to do it, and I hope it continues to provide you complete satisfaction for a very long time!

This is the second home project I have used First Quality Contracting and I am satisfied with Geoffrey's professional expertise regardless of the scope of the project. He provided a comprehensive summary of the work project on his initial visit to include its estimated cost and duration. This was followed up within 24-48 hours of a written proposal of work. He never employed pressure or sales techniques meant to deceive or confuse. I found his professional insight helpful for this project and possible future projects. He always maintained a professional demeanor; was always prompt and kept the work disruption to a minimum. The results were very impressive and would not hesitate to use Geoffrey and First Quality Contracting again.

Thank you for the very nice review- I've thoroughly enjoyed working for you on both projects, and working on a classic house like yours and trying to do "period-accurate" work is one of my favorite things, and I look forward to working for you again!

Geoff did an excellent job. This was our second time using his services. He came up with the final configuration after discussing what we were looking for in terms of layout and functionality. He was able to expand on our ideas and arrived at an excellent design both in finish and construction. A particular thing about this contractor is his professionalism and respect for his customers property. since he was working inside our home for several weeks, it was imperative we could trust him. He came through with flying colors. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the glowing remarks! The kitchen is immediately adjacent to an addition I previously constructed, and I think the way the two rooms flow together is unique. Everything is very "clean" with a very modern feel but they go perfectly together and "fit" in the house with the high vaulted ceilings of the living room. It's been an absolute pleasure working for you, and looking forward to working for you or your friends in the future!
