Having used the services of First Quality Contracting previously, I was aware of Geoff's excellent work, professionalism, and responsiveness. I had been considering construction of a pergola over my existing patio (approx size 16' x 22' for some time, as it's West-facing exposure with no surrounding shade made it nearly impossible to enjoy after about 2 PM during the hot summer months. Unfortunately, the exit from the back of the house to the patio provides the only sun exposure to the main living area, so I did not want substantial sun-blocking, only enough to provide some relief from the direct sun while still allowing sun to enter the living area. After much consultation, we decided on 12" spacing for the pergola boards to provide this balance, and Geoff also painted all of the boards with a durable white stain for both aesthetic reasons and to delay the need to repaint/retreat the boards. After some initial negotiation on the start date, we agreed to a schedule that worked for both of us, with my goal of having the project completed by the 4th of July weekend a critical decision factor. Geoff coordinated my project with others he was working on to ensure he could meet my required completion date. He arrived promptly every day and put in long hours during some very hot days. He also checked with me every day to see if I had any questions or concerns, and we made a few revisions to post placement and design along the way, none of which was done without my prior inspection and consent. At the end of the project, I noticed a flaw in one of the exposed beams, and Geoff came up with a creative way to fix the problem that looks very natural. At first reluctant to do this project, I am now extremely happy with the results! Once again, Geoff lived up to the name of his company, First Quality.

Geoff started the job when he said he would, and was on time every day. He was particular that his work was done correctly and made sure that we were satisfied several times during the process, which took about a week. We are very pleased with the work that he did and plan on having him do more work for us in the near future. We would recommend him highly, and as a matter of fact, I just gave his name to a friend of mine who wants some work done. We look forward to the next project Geoff will do for us..... changing the columns and adding railing to our front porch.

Geoff had been referred to me by a co-worker who has used his services and been very pleased with the results. Unlike several other contractors I had attempted to contact, he was extremely responsive. He showed up promptly for the estimate appointment, quickly provided a detailed and reasonably priced estimate for the various repairs, and arrived right on time each day of the repairs. I have had enough experience with home repairs that I was not surprised by a couple of "bumps in the road" he encountered when tackling the repairs. When this occurred, before moving forward, Geoff would contact me and explain the situation (usually waiting until I could get home from work to show me exactly what the problem was) then walk me through a recommendation and adjust the estimate accordingly. I felt the additional adjustments were fair and appropriate...I did not feel like he was taking advantage of the situation. He originally estimated a timetable of 4 days to complete the work. He showed up promptly every day, and while the timetable extended by one day, it was not due to his lack of diligence but rather the few surprises that were discovered along the way that needed to be addressed. Geoff did a very good job cleaning up each day (anyone who has had drywall work done knows it is impossible to keep things clean with all of the dust), removed all debris, and kept me informed of his progress. Overall, this was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had with a contractor. Finding one that is trustworthy, competent, conscientious and fair can be a real challenge, but I would not hesitate to recommend First Quality Contracting to friends, family or neighbors, and I will certainly use Geoff's services in the future.
