Entire experience was a disaster! Wrong appliances ordered. Took forever to get new ones delivered. After they were paid, they were unresponsive. Had to go to regional corporate office of GE to get East Coast to correct situation.

It was not centered properly. Each time you open the door it rubbed against the cabinet until it finely broke the trim on the door. I asked them to come take a look to see what could be done . They said no that they would charge for a service call to come out even though it was there fault because of a bad installation. I contacted the manufacture and they sent a serviceperson out the next day at no charge. He said the dishwasher was installed improperly and had to reinstall it. Now it works fine but the trim on the door is still broken east coast won't replace it. The service manager was very rude and the owner acted like he just couldn't be bothered.

The washing machine is deceiving as it looks large but does not fill up with water because it is energy efficient. My husband went and spoke with them after purchase with the intention of exchanging the machine and they assured him that it would handle a very large load which it does not. Website says 100% service guaranteed, but when we called, my husband was told that we had seven days to return and only if we had the original box. We were not offered the box with the delivery. Since then no one has returned any of our calls. I was supposed to get paperwork to receive a $70 rebate for delivery, and that was never mailed to me. I called salesman on Saturday asking for paperwork for rebate and someone to fix the hoses on washing machine and it is three days later with no return phone call.
Description of Work: Ordered washer/dryer. They hooked both machines up for us. The water hookup is wrong. Cold is hot, etc.

We purchased a professional DSC brand gas cook top from East Coast Appliance in 2004. Since the purchase we have had occassional problems with the igniters of all four burners continuing to stay on (making the clicking sound and discharging a spark) after the burner is lit. We have been able to fix the problem by cleaning all of the burner component thoroughly with wire brushes and washing them. Last week the problem surfaced again, however, this time the igniters would not stop regardless of anything we could do. Since we bought the appliance from East Coast Appliance and they are listed on the DCS web-site as a service provider we called them first to arrange for them to come out and fix the problem. The DCS brand is a higher end cooktop and manufactured in CA; apparently there are not a lot of them in the area which would explain somewhat why there is only 2 service providers that are listed (including East Coast) on the DCS web site. The woman with the service department who I talked to said that they do not service appliances that are out of warranty even if they sold them. I recommend that wherever buyers purchase their appliances that they verify they will have local service support after the warranty runs out.

We went in. There was no high pressure salesman whom I expected, but there was none. Their prices were very competitive. They looked at everything up that we wanted to make sure that they gave us the cheapest price over other competitors, and they looked up our old appliances to make sure that the new appliances would fit in their spaces. So, they were very helpful.

We had a really bad experience with East Coast Appliance. They sold us a washing machine that is crazy. It sounds like someone is in it trying to get their way out. East Coast Appliance says nothing can be returned. We walked in and told them what we wanted. We said we were okay with scratch and dent. They offered one with a small dent in the back. They delivered it and when it was turned on it sounded awful. It sounded like the transmission was out, similar to a car. We fortunately took out insurance on it so a service man came a week later to check it out. He said it is standard and it just needed another transmission. I thought it was weird that we bought a new washer and it needed a new transmission. He ordered a new one and installed it and it sounded louder. We looked at the contract on the bottom and in tiny print it said that if you bought a new Whirlpool or GE scratch and dent it is yours and it can not be returned or replaced. This washer can walk across the floor because it is so messed up. I had to put 2x4s next to it to keep it in place so it does not move across the floor. The washer does the job but it is really loud and moves across the floor. East Coast followed the terms of the contract so we got screwed. They did come every time we called and showed up on time. Called ahead and said he was 30 minutes away and he arrived 30 minutes later. The gentleman was very polite, nice, looked good and he was very honest. He advised it was his job to service us through the contract and was honest with us - he even came out twice. We did save money because it was scratch and dent, but the dent was not the problem. They should have told us if we bought this scratch and dent it was ours and no returns and maybe we would have paid more to have something new. They said they tested it but it needed a new transmission right off the bat.

We purchased our home in March 2009, and went in May 2009 when our fridge and range both went out. We ordered our range, got a scratch and dent fridge and had it delivered/installed for $1100. In November of 2009, our home was flooded in a Nor'easter and we were forced to repurchase all of our appliances. After waiting for all the renovations to be complete and for the money to finally be released, we came in February 2010. The salesmen had seen us in the store pricing out what we could and could not afford on our budget, and helped us get what we actually wanted. We are military, and do receive military discounts from big box retailers, but the service and salesmen do not compare. Our salesman price matched all our purchase for that day with competing retailers including our military discount, and that total for a new Stainless Steel Cooktop/Microwave/Dishwasher and small fridge including delivery for all appliances and installation for the microwave (dishwasher install was included in my contractor's price) was $2400. In March 2010 we received our final flood payout, and came in to purchase our real fridge and washer and dryer. The salesmen again remembered what we had just came in to purchase, what brand we bought so they would match and the exact color we wanted for our washer and dryer. They were delivered and installed for $6400. All deliveries and installs were done in a timely manner, and they were very professional and made sure to clean up after themselves if they made a mess. Each time we had a different salesmen, but each were not pushy, knew what they were selling and were willing to help us.

TERRIBLE! While both service men they sent out were nice, only one knew much about Bosch dishwashers, and neither could fix it. I finally talked ECA into letting me return it, if I upgraded to the next higher model - so I returned the broken one and had them credit my card for the refund instead of giving me store credit. Then I left and bought the Bosch dishwasher at Lowe's. I will never buy anything at East Coast Appliance again! This battle took weeks and it was totally unnecessary, if they had just handled it reasonably from the start. Worst customer service ever.
Description of Work: I purchased new Bosch dishwasher, but it did not work correctly upon installation. ECA sent 2 techs to repair, who said there were no problems. It was louder than our six year old, inexpensive dishwasher that it was replacing, so there was definitely a problem. ECA offered no solutions. Frank Dorsis was arrogant and rude in response to my frustrations. He said that if I filed a dispute with my credit card company, he would win because I signed a No Return policy. That policy only applied to special order items, and this dishwasher was not special order. It actually took me TWENTY TWO phone calls to resolve this issue, several faxes, a credit card dispute, and complaint with the Commonwealth's Attorney General - who found that their refund policy was vague and unenforceable.
