Description of Work: E.M. Raines Company painted our two story 2400 square feet Tidewater Colonial house this fall. Gene Raines came out within a few days of our asking for an estimate. He was prompt and detailed with the estimate. His price seemed high but because his reputation is so good in this area, we went with him. And believe me, the results are worth every penny. First, the painting work is exquisite, not a speck of paint out of line. Second, the two painters, Rusty and Don, were so personable, so helpful, so unintrusive they were a real joy to have at our house for four weeks. Rusty even shared two of her great persimmon recipes with me. Third, every day the painting tools were put away, the area swept up and the ladders put out of sight. BTW, the painters were well equipped with everything they needed. We would recommend E.M. Raines and Company to anyone without reservation.

Description of Work: I had 6 interior rooms, including ceilings, and 4 exterior doors repainted. The interior rooms are quite large, and three of them had wallpaper that had been on the walls for over twenty years - all wallpaper was removed, and this added to the cost.

Description of Work: I called three painting contractors for an interior estimate. Raines came out the next day. His appearance was neat and his painting truck was spotless. If he could keep a paint truck looking good I figured he must be neat and a detailed person. He told us he was working in the neighborhood, so my wife and i visited the job site. They kept all their tools in a small utility trailer, so the inside of the customers house was kept clean. We spoke to the foreperson (lady) and she explained how they covered all the furniture with clean drop cloths. A lot of attention was put on caulking all the trim (ie) door frames, window frames, baseboards, crown molding and door panels. All cracks and holes in the walls were repaired. We had a very large hole in one bedroom due to a leaking hot water heater. We were surprised when the foreperson said they could repair it. The crew only worked in 2 rooms at a time, so our whole house wasn't messed up. We were given notice when another room was needed. When the job was completed we had a inspection with the foreperson to make sure we were 100% satisfied. They left the interior of our home clean and even left all the paint cans if we needed them in the future. We thought having painters in our home for three weeks would be a struggle, but the craftsman were polite, quiet,(no music) on time and very professional. Description of Work: We called E. M. Raines Painting for a free estimate. Mr. Raines came out the very next day. He explained to us why his painting company was far different from the rest. Careful and thorough surface preparation was the key to a long lasting paint job. Hydro washing (not high pressure), the entire painted surfaces, scraping, sanding, caulking, and priming would help the paint to last many years. His bid was based on careful surface preparation, quality paint, and caulk. He has had the same craftsmen working for his company for years. No work was contracted out, and no painters were picked up just to do our job. We viewed several of his jobs in our neighborhood, and we were sold. His foreman explained their surface preparation procedures for our home. They followed it to the letter. They showed up on time everyday, and when the job was finished, we had a walk around with the foreman to make sure we were 100% satisfied. They even labeled the paint cans in case they might be needed in the future. The job site was left clean, and our home looks beautiful.
