Mr Hartman came out and reviewed the work and gave me an estimate. The next day two gentlemen showed up and reattached the shutters and fixed the soffit leak for the agreed upon price. They were quick and professional (1 hour). Was very glad they did such expert work because I'm sure that given this last weekend's weather (Hurricane Sandy) I would have had all six shutters fly off the house and a leaking soffit. Next time I need some outside work, this will be the company I call.

It was an excellent job! Mr. Hartmann came out on very little notice - and, believe me, when i discovered that I had damaged our siding in a VERY visible place, I was distraught. He gave great advice on the first visit, came back and solved the problem on the second visit. I have already recommended his firm to friends who need siding work.

I had various items that needed fixing; Mr. Hartmann gave me a fair price that I compared to other quotes. His team did an excellent job, showed up on time and finished in the time specified, and were very professional. I thought I was going to need to replace a couple of windows, but they got them in working order. Great job!

I had a heat issue in the attic, and having D.L. Hartmann do a recent job that I was very happy with, I gave them a call about adding attic vents; gable end vents were recommended and installed. Also, several soffit vents had been painted over, so these were replaced as well; they also recommended and installed two additional soffit vents for an areas that was not adequately vented. As before, their team did an excellent job, arrived and finished on time, and were very professional.

Mr Hartmann came out to the house to size up the job the same day we called him. He was very pleasant and knowledgable. The work was started on time and finished when he told us it would be. All of his workers were very polite and kept a clean job site. Everything turned out great and actually looked better than expected.

D L Hartmann came out to our property for two estimates, during which we revised down the amount of work we wanted him to do several times. This was partially based on his recommendation - he did not think we needed quite the amount of work we were requesting to get the effect we wanted. That is an amazing level of honesty for a contractor, since he knew he'd be earning less money every time he revised it down. When we finally agreed on a specific work plan, the price was competitive. It was not the lowest we had heard (for the same work), but it was close. However, we decided his forthrightness was a good sign, so we hired him. Hartmann himself was not at the work site most of the time as far as I could tell, but his crew was friendly, reliable, and English-speaking. When we had questions/concerns, the crew was able to get Hartmann on the phone immediately, and I believe he did come down later to check on something personally. The sagging roof was pretty bad, and they ended up trying several techniques to push it back in place, which mostly worked (within an inch). The columns look fantastic, trim is perfect, and the paint job was great. And even better, nothing has changed nearly a year later. Overall, this was an exceptionally positive experience, the most positive I've ever had with a contractor. HIGHLY recommended.

From first call was at my home to give an estimate within 24 hrs. and job completed within 14 days. Workers arrived on time and worked efficiently and expediently to complete job in 4 hrs.

We had Mr. Hartmann's crew update the windows, siding and gutters and could not be more pleased with the work and outcome. Our energy bills have dropped by a third and all the suggestions and options that Mr. Hartmann helped with really made the project turn out better than expected. We had his company back in the summer of 2011 to refurbish the living room, dining room, foyer, hallway and guest bedroom. We also had him completely remodel the den and the kitchen. We are thrilled with those results as well.

Mr. Hartmann is very nice. I called him on saturday evening after I noticed the leak.He asnwered his phone right away, and scheduled the appointment on Sunday morning at 11 am.He contacted me before the appointment to let me know he would be 20 minutes late, which I appreciated very much.He came and inspected the gutter because I thought it came from there, and he said no, He advised me what to get from Home depot to seal the gutter. He determined that it came from the roof, but let me know that he does not do roofing.He noticed the door missed a screw and added one.He did not charge me for anything. He is very professional, and courteous.I will definitely contact him in the future.

He did the job and meets my needs. I did not have any issue with them. They came to fix a wire in the light fixture and it caused a circuit to blow out but they came back and fixed it.

Upon Mr Hartmann's vist to my house for a quote I fully explained what I wanted in a replacement window. I agree it was a special type request however, another company had previously provided the same type of window I was requesting and D.L. assured me he could provide the same. SInce I was doing a complete "down-to-the-studs" rehab the windows I asked for were replacement windows which came with a built on (attached from the factory) casement. I stressed this fact about the factory casement many times. D.L. again assured me he would have the kind of window I wanted. When the day came for install the windows were not want I had specified. They were standard replacement windows without a casement. SInce I had other contractors standing by to start/continue work awaiting installation of windows I had to let D.L. install what they had provided. All-in-all, the windows D.L. provided are fine. The installation is good and everything seems to have worked out. However, I believe I was intentionally misled on the ability to provide the type of windows I wanted. Contractors are not in this business as long as D.L. has claimed to have been in the business and don't understand what a customer wants. Especially when it is something as simple as asking for a window with a factory attached casement.

It was a great experience from beginning to end. Would certainly use them again.

We were very impressed and pleased with this job. We were given an estimate very quickly, and it was the lowest of all the estimates we received. We were also told by Mr. Hartmann that part of our siding was coming detached from the house and he offered to repair it for us. The workers showed up exactly when they said they would and they were incredibly quick and efficient at cleaning our gutters and replacing a section. This is by far the best experience we have had with contractors working on our house in the 12 years we have owned it. I would highly recommend this company.

We had been batting the idea around for a while to either have a sunroom built or a Sunsetter awning installed. After considering costs., we opted for the Sunsetter awning. From the Sunsetter web site, we called two of the listed approved contractors. The first, didn't return our call until that evening. D. L. Hartmann responded to the house within the hour we called. He took the measurements, gave us options (we already knew what colors and features we wanted). We ordered the wind sensor. A device that lets the awning automatically retract to prevent damage during strong winds. A front and side 'weather break'. A privacy cloth screen that keeps rain away. You can see out, but you can't see in. And the 6 electric light package. The custom made unit arrived in about 10 days. Mr. Hartmann didn't come, but 2 of his install guys arrived early. It took about 4 hours for them to install the motorized awning. I'm really glad we had them install the 20 foot awning. I don't think Linda and I could have handled that project on our own. One of the light globes had a small hole in it. Sunsetter replaced it quickly, no charge, no shipping. Mr. Hartmann delivered it the morning it arrived. I had asked Mr. Hartmann for the 2 siding sections the install guys removed to install the awning. (Through normal wear and tear a section of siding had worked loose in one spot, and damage to the siding caused by me weed whacking the lawn in another spot). He said that the sections had already been discarded. But instead he delivered 5 sections same color same style for free! Not a week later. The guys were very friendly, very informative. Told me how to care for the unit, and showed me how the wind sensor worked. I'm impressed with the awning. It's nice to sit out back in the evening. It's like we had an extra room added on, on the cheap. I'm impressed with the contractor and his staff. Very personable folk. I would recommend both the product and the installer.

The job took about an hour and the workers did a good job. Left the area clean and just like it was found. Very happy with my new seamless gutters on our garage.

The job started one day late, but I was notified. From then on, the workers came early each morning and worked until dark. Every worker was very nice and hard-working. The only problem was that they were not cleaning the worksite as they went along. I found nails on the steps and patio since they had not even swept up. However, I called Mr. Hartmann and clean ups did occur each day after that. All in all, the process went smoothly and I ended up with a product that I really like!

They came over the next morning after I called to give me an estimate then came out the next day to do the repair. I will use them again in the future.

I called Dave in the morning and he said he could be there in about two hours for a quote. He arrived promptly and was very professional. He took a look at a shingle issue I was having as well as a minor leak around our windows. He proceeded to remove the siding around the window to see if the leak occurred from improperly installed materials (the home is 14 months old). He then proceeded to test my windows for the leak by pouring a pitcher of water around the base of the sill. He concluded that it was a minor issue that could be resolved with a simple fix around the screens that caused water to backup during very heavy rain (hurricane Irene). He did not charge me for his time and gave me honest professional advice on how to resolve the leak and shingle issues. I would highly recommend Dave as he seems honest and will not try to perform any unnecessary services. I will definitely use and refer him to anyone needing his services.

I called for an estimate based on an angie's listing. Mr. Hartmann came and I walked him through all the problems incurred during a recent windstorm. He took notes and explained what needed to be done to correct the problems. He verified his schedule and squeezed my small job between two big jobs that were in-progress. The two craftsman were polite, knowledgeable and explained all the work in detail. It was a very hot day and they arrived early around 700am to beat the heat and were complete by 1130 to include clean-up. I was so impressed I gave them a tip.

Mr. Hartmann was very responsive when I called and asked him to give me an estimate. Price was in line with what I expected to pay. I had to obtain home owners association approval for the project, and he left me a sample of the vinyl products he'd be using to give to the association. This process of HOA approval took more than 6 weeks. When I was finally able to call him back and schedule the job, he came out the next day to give me the contract. Work started the following week. When asking for the estimate, I walked him around the house and pointed out all the things that needed to be fixed. We'd recently had the windows replaced, but all the fascia, soffits, and other outside trim were still wood. These had not been painted in a few years, and were in poor shape. I asked them to replace any bad wood, prime it, and then wrap all wood in vinyl. The aluminum gutters were also very badly stained, as they'd never been painted in the 15 years we've had the house. I asked him if he could paint them, and was told they would probably clean right up with some cleaner, and they'd take care of that while they had them down. There were also several places in the siding where it had shifted over the years, either showing a gap between pieces, or not hanging straight. They would also repair those. And finally, there was a piece of brick molding on a back outside closet door that I'd removed because it was water damaged. They would replace that before encasing all the trim. When the workers arrived, they got right to business. It was a very hot day, so we offered them some ice water. Other than that, we hardly knew they were out there (well, except for the hammering.) We were told by Mr. Hartmann that it would be a two-day job, but as it got later in the afternoon, the workers said they were hoping to finish that day. There were a few minor issues that I pointed out to Mr. Hartmann afterward, and he was very responsive it getting them resolved.
