Outstanding response and great work. He did the repairs and noticed that a piece of siding as damaged. Gave me some honest advice and offered to repair the damaged piece if he is able to find the matching color. Impressed !

D.L. Hartmann, Inc put in a door to my potting shed on the side of my house. It was about two years ago. His service was alright but I was disappointed with the quality of the door fixtures he used . Some of the finishing’s on the work he did weren't very good. For the most part I would say like did an 85% job. I noticed that some of the door fixtures have already begun to rust and since it was an outside door, I wasn't sure why he didn’t use something galvanized or designed for outside use so that it wouldn't rust. I would say from 100 he probably got about an 85. He was overpriced for the work he did and I think he was late in showing up for the job. I would not consider him for future work.

Two gentlemen came out and got promptly to work and reattached all six shutters to the brick and siding. They also inspected the soffit that appeared to be leaking and tucked everything back into place and assured me that there were no leaks discovered. They were great. This was so long ago that I don't remember their names, but remember how pleasant they were and quick to quick the job done.

It went great and he came in under budget!

Dave showed up exactly when he promised and did a great job for a very reasonable price. I had received additional proposals. Dave was the best.

Mr. Hartmann came out soon after we contacted him and gave us an estimate. We were a smaller job, but he and his assistant were very attentive, showed up when they said they were going to (or gave us a phone call if they were running late), performed the job, cleaned up after themselves and completed the work as we agreed. The price he charged for the work was more than fair. We were extremely satisfied. We highly recommend this contractor and will use him in the future.

He did a really good job, but the corking on one side wasn't done well enough, the trim was trying to come through it so I called him. He sent somebody right out and fixed it. They re-corked that side that needed help. It was a little job I knew they do big job, but it was great that he would do that just that because some places won't. You will talk to him and if it is not your whole house or big job they really won't be bothered. So I really appreciate the fact that he did that. I mean he has his workers do it. He didn't come himself. I would use this provider again in the future.

They were good. They were recommended by one of our neighbor. They were professional, and the quality of work that they did for the neighbors was good.

Called him to get an estimate on windows & siding. We set up an appointment to meet on Saturday morning. A few days prior, he called to ask if he could push it up to TODAY since he was in Norfolk already. Under unusual circumstances, I was at home when he called and told him I was on my way out the door for an appointment and could not say exactly when I would be back. He said he would just come by the house and wait for me, rather than drive back to VB, and come all the way (?) back. When I arrived home, there was a quote on the door. We had not discussed ANY siding / color / window options --- just one quote, which actually turned out to be higher than the other quotes we got.

The work that D L Hartmann's crew performed was excellent. I found their work to be very high quality and I am very picky. They fixed the siding that was destroyed on the side of our home after a storm. They understood the reason the siding wasn't secured and corrected it. Also, they found a color match with the siding on the rest of our house and came extremely close to the extract color. The difference was undetectable. We also had a leak coming in from our ceiling that they knew exactly what the cause was from and corrected it. I also had them do little fix up things around the house such a replacing a storm door and minor repairs in my bathroom. They might be slightly more expensive than others in the area, however their work is guaranteed and you definitely get what you pay for. Also, they are easy to communicate with and very courteous.

Mr. Hartmann is very professional, but very difficult to pin down on times, etc. I would have preferred storm doors with different hardware, but was never asked, so I take some responsibility in that. I didn't know there were choices. Overall, his crew did a good job, but there were a few little things that I think should have been taken care of that weren't.

D.L. and his employee are top notch, professional, always on time, never leaves a job site w/o cleaning up. D.L. does not put a final stamp on a project until he has inspected the work of the staff assigned to a project. If I ever have an issue, D.L. has always addressed the issues promptly. I have used D.L. since 2008, for multiple projects deck repairs, replacement windows, doors, and Sun setter awnings. With multiple properties, I keep him busy, he's on my speed dial. I would highly recommend you give him a call he has years of experience.

He seems like a very responsive guy. We haven't yet decided what to do which the property but so far we liked Mr. Hartmann. He seems like a very nice, thorough and responsive guy. We are in dispute with the city and that is why we haven't been able to move forward. The quoting process was good and positive. I don't have any complaints about them. They came out when they said they would and they've been very responsive. I liked the company and we will consider them very possibly if and when we finally get to go ahead. We got another estimate which was significantly lower but we haven't gotten down to talk because we can't go ahead right now.

He was here all the time checking things. There was something short on the order and he said you don't pay until the entire thing is done. The part came and he fixed it up. It could not have been better. He came out last week. I did not dislike anything about their service. They were gentlemen. They came out and knew what they were doing. It was a good experience!

After getting all the permits, they removed a dinning room window to install a french door. They were very neat and respectful. They moved outlets and upgraded an exterior outlet. They added a outdoor light with a switch inside. They also did a very good job of keeping the current trim. After a discussion about grading, they added a small slab with flush drain. The work looks very good and we are thoroughly enjoying our new door.

The guys did a great job, no complaints.

Let it be known that this guy should have rock star status on Angie's List. I've had roughly $20K of work done in the last six years, spread over a dozen different contractors. You definitely get to see what makes a good company, no matter how large or small. He was on time, super professional, excellent prices, thoroughly knowledgeable. The list can go on. Even my neighbors commented on how nice this guy and his crew were. Don't second guess yourself. If Hartmann is attached to the job, scratch that project off of your list and consider it done correctly.

The owner himself came out the morning after I called. He was here bright and early at 8:30 AM with the expectation of doing an estimate. Based on the work he fixed the issues, with the assistance of a small crew, that morning. He was gone with in 40 minutes. He and the crew were very cordial and made me feel at ease. He made a few suggestions for future renovations that were in earnest since the main suggestion was for a service that he does not provide, a new roof . There were no attempts to try to "hard sell" me on other services. The work was done properly (at least to my untrained eye) and the end results were a straight and secure gutter and downspout. I would definitely use him again! :)

He did a wonderful job. I would recommend him to others.

Mr. Hartman is a very nice gentleman to deal with. He had previously replaced a damaged gutter on the back of my house which is why I hired him again. He shows up when he says he will for an estimate or to start work, is very courteous, and is prices are reasonable. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

I had lost several pieces of aluminum trim on my house from two different storms over a couple of weeks. I had called several contractors over a 2-3 week period of which some would respond, others would show up and not follow through with estimates and others would provide a ridiculously overpriced estimate. I called Mr. Hartmann based on reviews from Angie's List. He arrived on time providing a reasonable estimate but more importantly offered some other recommendations on a completely separate issue. Based on that short visit I realized he was sincere and worth hiring so I decided to schedule a date the following week. Due to the weather he did not complete the job that week as planned and when I called he explained he couldn't tackle the job b/c of the rain and wind. He did show up the following week, properly finished the job and left me a bill for half of what we agreed upon because he was concerned he had inconvenienced me. Mr. Hartmann is a true professional but more importantly a gentleman who is more concerned with his reputation and customer service rather than making a quick buck. I am very glad to know there are a few companies such as Mr. Hartmann's still in existence who is old school providing great customer service and would rather go the distance pleasing his customers rather than making a sale. I had contacted a previous company who had installed new vinyl siding and superior windows on my house in a different nearby neighborhood/city spending $20+K easily and couldn't get him to come out and give me an estimate after contacting him on two separate occasion because it wasn't worth his time and money. I will use Mr. Hartmann in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in quality service and a businessman more concerned with his well earned reputation rather than a quick buck.

Mr. Hartman arrived on time and inspected the work I had requested and actually told me how to cut my cost in half by using another method. I was going to have him replace my patio French doors and he saved me almost $400 by giving me a contact who would just replace the insulated glass. He also gave me contact to replace 3 fogged bay windows I had which was extremely appreciated. The original cost for patio door and replacement was going to be approx $750 but using the method Mr.Hartman advised I got the glass replaced for my patio doors and bay windows replaced for $800. I was ecstatic! Thanks Mr. Harman you rock!

I'm a repeat customer, and once again, an excellent job! Work was completed with complete satisfaction.

I am very satisfied with them. There was a big piece of trim that had been wrapped with vinyl coated aluminum that was taken off by the wind. I supplied the material, I didn't have enough, but they were able to piece it. They did a good job with that and accomplish the project at a reasonable price. They gave me a bid on the project the day after I called them.

There was a slight scheduling problem. It was minor. They came in the morning and the job was scheduled for afternoon. They did the job at that time and it was okay.
