Cottage Care

I was very happy with Cottage care for the first year. They did have one of the better cleaning crews in the Virginia Beach area...actually ran background checks and the manager cared about her customers. However, after that manager left, the company went through about three others within a short span of time. The service continually went downhill from there and my relationship ended with them when one of their maids used an abrasive cloth on my stainless steel new cooktop and ruined it as well as scrubbing my honed granite countertops. I was their highest paying customer for two years and they refused to pay for these damages. $3100 later in damages and I guess they figured it is cheaper to find a new customer than to file a claim on their insurance. At this point I even question if they have insurance. I would think twice about hiring them if you care about the insurance issue or if you care about damage to your home. If anything is damaged in your home this company will probably not cover it. This is so disappointing after being with a company for a few years on a weekly basis. This company could have made much more money from me if they had just gotten their service together. I wanted to move back to two days a week and have them clean an additional house, but I told them I would not do this until I could see that they could provide reliable cleaning crew for a period of time. This was because cleaners kept being changed out on a weekly basis, I had no idea who was in my house. The damage to my kitchen was the final straw. The manager came out and viewed the damage and acknowledged along with the other maid that worked on my house that "unnamed maid" did the damage and that they had other problems with him and complaints from other customers. The manager said she would talk to the owners and get it taken care of. At least a month later I finally received an email stating that they would only give me free cleanings to compensate me for damage to the countertops but would not pay for the damage to the stove because "unnamed maid" said he didnt do it. Bottom line is the owners of this franchise dont care. What makes this even sadder is that they didnt even bother to return my phone call about the claim, they sent me an email. I guess this is all your valued at after 2 years of being a loyal customer

They sent one cleaner to clean a house that can use two people. Sometimes cleaning quality cannot be maintained when one single person works for long hours (5 hours). All areas cleaned during the first half of the job were great. However, the other areas that were cleaned later cannot be compared. At the same (or lower) price, all other companies sent 2 people, and they still would take more than 2.5 hours.

They have been providing me with great service for well over five years. They are very consistent when it comes to their work. My home is always clean and looks good. They do offer other cleaning options, but, this is all that I personally use them for. The pricing is o.k. It probably could be a tad bit cheaper, but, I am not complaining. I plan to keep them around for a good many more years because I am content with them and trust them very much.
