Arrived timely and right to work. Owner and worker donned shoe covers to protect carpet areas immediately upon entering my home. Noted problem with connection and made repair. I called at 6:30pm or so and Chris answered the phone. I had heard about him through a neighbor. I already called a former HVAC Co. that had done some work on my unit and they didn't respond. Chris sent a very qualified technician within the hour that was there for an hour diagnosing the problem. He did a detailed inspection of the unit and couldn't find anything wrong. He thinks perhaps one of the plug ins was loose and it was working by the time I left. The fact that they were so responsive and reasonable is something I am so thankful for. They are coming back to do a thorough cleaning and servicing of the unit as it needs it and this was also quoted reasonably. For me, they were above and beyond in response and professionalism. .

My AC unit stopped blowing cold air. Initially I thought that this was due to Dominion Power controlling my AC unit during peak hours. I called up Dominion to see whether or not they were having an event. When they said no I knew I was dealing with a big issue. I called a Chris Mechanical who was referred to me and they came out the next day for a diagnostic. They were prompt and professional and called me about 30 minutes prior to arrival to let me know that they were on their way. Their initial diagnosis was that the coil in the upstairs unit was leaking (no official leak check was preformed) and that it froze over my compressor which in turn stopped working. The cost to replace the coil and the compressor would be about $2,200. Then they proceeded to say that my unit is no longer energy efficient and that I may as well replace my unit for about $5,500. They wanted an answer by 5pm that day (a Friday) so that they could replace the parts or the unit on Monday, depending on which option I chose. I told them that I was not going to decide without a proposal (and I wasn't going to have them play on my emotions). That they could email it to me. I'm still waiting on that proposal. I contacted another company for a 2nd opinion and the cost of the repair to my unit was less than $200. They said that my compressor was in fact working and that the leak in my coil was so small that it was not a matter to be concerned with at this point. They hardly had to refill any Freon. They did not recommend replacing my unit. It is now blowing cold air. I would highly recommend receiving a 2nd opinion before signing up with Chris Mechanical.

The original system had problems heating and cooling the house. Chris made recommendations to replace the entire unit and made modifications to the existing duct work to maximize the full potential of the new system. His team was always respectful of my house and placed down drop cloths to ensure the house remained clean. I would definitely use Chris again and recommend him to all my friends.
