The reason for the service request was that my father had recently passed away (May 3rd) and I had moved my mother, who is in the late stages of dementia, to my home. The move took place on May 18th, 15 days after the passing of my father, retired US Army, MSG Raoul Velazquez. Initially the move went well, both of the "independent contractors" arrived on time and were very polite. Once everything was loaded, they drove the furniture to my home, approximately 5 miles away. While bringing the furniture into my home, they damaged my parent's China Cabinet. The base of the top portion had been ripped off which caused two of the doors to fall off, breaking pieces of the wooden door as well and the glass fronts. The two contractors picked up the glass and removed it from my home and I spoke with them about their insurance covering the damages. They responded that they didn't know anything about insurance so I asked to speak with the person at Caring Transitions that setup the move, Wendy. While on the phone with Wendy, I was told they were fully insured and I would be getting a call from their claims agent. We concluded the call with me making payment for the services with my credit card, which I still haven't received a receipt for (only have my credit card company record of the transaction). A few days later, after not receiving a call from the claims agent, I called Caring Transitions to get a status. They took my contact info but I didn't receive a call back. After an additional 3 calls over the next week with no return calls, I sent an email to owner "Nicholas Sell" (May 23rd). I stated my dissatisfaction and explained that I had called 4 times with no return calls as well as the damage that had occurred with the China Cabinet. Later that morning I received a email response from Wendy stating she had told the owner about the damage at which point I responded with "Will I be getting a response from the claims person soon?". The next email response just said "I really don't have an answer to that, all I can say is I notified the owner". As of today, May 29th, I have yet to get a call from a claims agent for the damage that was done to my parents China Cabinet. Dealing with the loss of the family member is traumatic enough without having to deal with a company like this.

This company is absolutely the worst; unbelievable. They were recommended to us by the assisted living place my mother is living in. The owner promised that everything would be covered, wrapped in plastic and all that stuff. When they arrived they had no blankets, no plastic and no nothing. They actually took the mattress cover off our mattress and used it to wrap something. When they were delivering it started to rain and they set the mattress in dirty water and did not tell me. I discovered it when I walked up the stairs. Every piece of furniture we had got marred one way or the other because nothing was wrapped and they were rubbing against each other. Our sofa got gouged and cut; everything we looked at had something wrong with it. Of course, the owner was not there. The guys were very nice, but I do not know if they know how to pack a truck. We took pictures of everything so I called them up and told them and told the owner he had to come out and look at our situation. He said he would not come out and asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted to come and look at it; it was horrible. We had antiques that had scratches in them, you name it, it was done. We went back and forth with the owner who still refused to come out. I made a list and told them I wanted a new mattress because mine was ruined. I also wanted my couch fixed. He just wanted to send me $500 because he did not want to put a claim in which would cause his rates to go up. It got down to the point where they accused me of only wanting to buy new furniture. I got so livid I said give me the $500 and don't ever call me. I told them I would never recommend them, ever.
Description of Work: I used Caring Transitions to move us from Virginia Beach to Apex two years ago. It was about a three hour move.
