Terrible! Don’t trust the salesman. He shows you one thing, says we don’t have to put specs in contract because the board he showed you are the specs. Then they company installs a cheaper underlayment. No hood supervision of crews, no safety equipment used, first crew was terrible — left the old tarpaper on! So now we will go to court

On April 24, 2014, I had my roof replaced, 23 windows replaced. and double front doors replaced. I have paid in full for the roof and windows, but refuse to pay for the doors until they are fixed correctly. As to the roof, the salesman said they would provide 10 sheets of plywood to replace any rotted wood and any other wood that looked like it was not "up to standard" and would let me know if additional wood was needed. The roofers said nothing to me about needing additional wood. I don't even know if the roofers used any plywood, but I have soft spots all over my roof. The soft spots were found when I had my gutters cleaned out, my gutters were full of old tile and nails. James Scaife (manager) said it would be subjective as to the repair of the roof because of the age of my house... If they replaced the plywood as promised, how could it have rotted in 2 years time? Rain also pours off the house and has rotted 2 boards on my deck. James Scaife (manager) says that's because I don't have a gutter over that window. My house is 23 years old and has never had a gutter over that window and I have never had rain pour off the house like this. The doors were never installed correctly and there have been several techs out many times to "fix" them . Each time the doors just get worse. I have an adult disabled daughter living with me and she cannot enter or leave the house alone because you have to pull and push **** ** the doors to lock or unlock the door. It takes 2 hands to operate and she only has one arm and hand to use. The company also refuses to send me the warranty for the roof, even though it has been paid for in full. I would not recommend this company to anyone. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Do Not Use T his Company!!! They replaced my roof and I thought, at first, they did a good job. then my gutters stopped up. When I had them cleaned, they were full of pieces of tile and nails that had completely clogged my gutters. Water also runs in sheets over my deck and two boards are rotting. The manager said it is because I have no gutter there. My house is 23 years old and has never had a gutter there. There are soft spots on my roof. The original agreement was to replace any plywood that was not up to standard, Now James Caife (manager) is telling me the soft spots are because of the age of my house. If the roof had been installed correctly, that plywood should not be rotting in two years. The front doors were never properly installed. They leak air from the visible crack in between the doors at the bottom, the weather stripping is already coming off. I have an adult handicapped daughter that cannot get in the house alone because you have to pull or push on the door to get to open with a key. The company keeps sending techs out and each visit makes the doors worse. I have repeatedly talked with the manager and all he'll do is send out another tech, which is no help. He also REFUSES to give me my warranties for the roof and windows, which have bee paid for in full. I cannot stress strongly enough that is a shoddy company, BEWARE, you WILL be taken for a ride!!!

Save yourself a big headache. Do not deal with this company!
Description of Work: We saw the best value remodelers at BJ's, figured they must be reputable, and asked for an estimate on a new roof. The guy that came was very smooth talking and told us we would get a special discount. Looking back it was way overpriced even with that so-called special discount. We had them put a new roof on our house. We told them about a part of the roof that was leaking and my husband offered to show them the spot from the attic. They refused and said they will take care of it. After the roof was done we realized they never replaced the mentioned wood that needed replacing. Then the runaround began. Their manager came out to make sure we told him the truth. Eventually they did replace that part but it took many many unnerving phone calls. And the guy in charge was not available most of the time or just wouldn't answer his phone. When we asked for an inspector to come and check it out the same guy that did the roofing came and said he was he inspector also. Does that make sense?

The Best Value Remodelers sales representatives were responsive to my request for quote and punctual. They offered a good replacement window product. However, their 30-day price quote was extremely high and that day's deal was even high; about twice as much as what was offered by the winning contractor for a better product. What was most disturbing was the significant sales pressure to make a decision while they were there to get that day's deal. It was comparable to a time share pitch.

We scheduled an appointment and took the day off to meet with them. We waited for an hour after our appointment time to call when no one showed or called us. We were told that one of the two men had a medical emergency and asked if we would like to reschedule our appt. The soonest appointment was an hour later, so we took it. The men came to our back door and knocked, even though there was a sign that said "BACK DOOR, use door by driveway". We let them in and they immediately started telling us about the medical problem the man who couldn't make it had. They also kept talking discounts for being late, military, etc., etc. They said they would work up the numbers and let us know our estimate. We actually had to set up an appointment for them to return, to get the estimate. An appointment was made, and they called us a dozen times to verify that we would be available for that time. I got so sick of all the calls (messages) that I called to ask why we couldn't just get the estimate over the phone. They said both of us had to be present at a return meeting to get it. I told them after all the calls to verify our appointment made me wonder what kind of company we were dealing with and asked to receive an e-mail or phone call with the estimate. We never heard back from them. Seems very shady, so needless to say, we've gone with a more reputable company for our master bath remodel.

At BJ's I set up an appointment for Best Value Remodelers to advise me and give me a quote on gutter replacement, trim wrap and window replacement. They didn't show. I was later called and told that they had tried several times to communicate with me in order to confirm the appointment. That wasn't true: nobody contacted me, and my voice mail was working fine. BJ's needs to be aware of this unreliability.

Scheduled a free consultation thru BJs Virginia Beach. Asked the rep at BJs what local company they used. She didn't know. Best Value Remodelers called & DID INSIST that BOTH my husband & I had to be here in order for us to get an initial roof replacement quote. I asked Judy, the rep who called me, if they were on Angie's List. She said, "I don't know. I would assume so. We've been around for over 40 years." I told her that I would call her back in a few minutes. Glad I came onto Angie's List & checked!!! I will NOT be hiring them based on the reviews listed here. Thank GOD for Angie's List. I'm a newer member & already this service has PAID OFF!!! I can 100% backup what the other customers are stating here. YOU MUST HAVE BOTH HOMEOWNERS PRESENT when they come for the initial visit. IT IS REQUIRED. Judy just told me so on the phone TODAY. STAY INFORMED.

Their radiant barrier product is supposedly designed by NASA but the shiny bubble wrap radiant barrier that I bought from home depot for $30 performed just as well if not better in their "test". Basically their test involves a black box with 2 heat lamps with insulation and 2 temperature sensors. One side you put their NASA based radiant barrier and on the other is just the plain insulation. Well obviously one side gets really hot and the other doesn't get as hot. I asked if I could test some radiant barrier that I bought from Home Depot and see how it worked. Tested that and it kept the temperature from going up just as well as their product. They quoted me $4900 to do the radiant barrier part of the job. I did the math and the radiant barrier from Home Depot cost $272 to cover my attic with the square footage they had calculated so that comes down to about $4600 in labor. After the test proved that the HD product was just as good they came down to about $3200 to do the radiant barrier so thats about $3000 in labor to staple their "NASA tested insulation that the astronauts use" that was outperformed by shiny bubble wrap from home dept in my attic. I do not recommend them for their radiant barrier at all. On the plus side the sales guy was very nice and awesome and tried to get his boss to come down on the price but could get nowhere near to the level that I wanted after doing the math. I tried to get him to quote just the soffit vent and the ridge vent but apparently that job is too small for them to do. After all that though I definitely do not recommend them if you need insulation!

We had a member of the company come out to give an estimate for a new roof. This was the first estimate out of 4 others. Now that I have gone through all of them I fully see how the experience with the company was unprofessional. My husband and I felt like we were at a car dealership and being pressured into make an important financial decision on the spot. We were asked by him several times to decide right then and there to go with them. He even mentioned he spent a lot of time and gas to come out to our house and didn't want to have to come back all the way back out here to have us sign papers if we decided to go with them. In addition he made 3 phone calls in front us trying to get us a "better deal". Again, as if we were at a car dealership and they wanted the deal to close. We are purchasing a roof, an investment, not a luxury item. He made me feel very uncomfortable because he was not respecting our decision to decide at a later time. We did not have this high pressure "sales pitch" environment with any other company. To make a potential customer uncomfortable in their house is the last thing a company should do.

My husband and I scheduled am estimate with Best Value Remodelers at Homearama in to have our roof replaced on the evening of October 23rd. They provided a coupon for 25% off for any work done for scheduling an estimate at Homearama. The lady that was scheduling the estimate at the booth was very professional and provided great customer service. It sounded like a good deal to check out so we went ahead and scheduled the estimate for October 27 at 6:30pm. We recieved a confirmation call for the appointment on October 25th and were told some one would be at our home at the time scheduled to provide the estimate. However, on October 27th no one showed up nor called saying they were running late. By 7pm I called the company and informed them their services were not needed and we would NOT be rescheduling for an estimate. I was exteremly dissapointed becuase the impression I got at Homearama was great but it quickly went south when they did not show for the scheduled appointment. If they could not be punctual or contact us that they were running late for an estimate then I have little faith that they would be reputable to replace our roof on time and on budget. The only reason they got a "D" in professionalism was becuase of the representitive at Homearama, otherwise it would have also been an "F". Update: Since my initial report this company has continued to call my phone to solicit business after I informed them there service wad unwanted beacause of their lack of professionalism in the beginning. I am honestly glad they did not show up at their scheduled appointment because nothing infuriates me more than high pressure sales. I just wish they would quit calling my phone now because it is extremely irritating. Just take no for an answer and move on.

The salesman was very polite and knowledgeable, but it was obvious he had his marching orders. To get the estimate takes about an hour. You get the three ring binder presentation and a video. Your spouse is "requested" to attend. Did he examine my attic space? NO. Did he go up on the roof? NO. Did he measure my roof? From the ground by walking around the house. Is that accurate? Not sure but his estimate of square footage of the roof was about 20% higher than my other estimates. When someone asks what they can do to "get my business today" makes alarms go off in my head. They should for you as well. If the estimate for the work is good for today - it should be good for at least 10 days. I would not recommend this company - but I did not use their services - their sales procedures - not their salesman - turned me off.
Description of Work: This company DOES use high pressure sales tactic. I was quoted a price for a complete roof replacement. The products are top notch and the salesmen could tell me all about the products and procedures. They asked me to view a video and it explains further the value of a good roof and pitches the GAF products. All good. But they did "ask" for both my wife and myself to listen to the pitch. The final price was very high compared to my other estimates. If you don't want high pressure sales pitch, avoid this company. What do I mean by high pressure pitch? The price quoted was high and they had advertised a discount when I made the appointment during my Homearama visit. When they quoted my price and then took the discount off, the cost was only good for "today" and was STILL above any other estimate I had received.. The higher 'original estimate was good for a longer period (30 days). The lower price was only good for the day? I said I did not do business that way - and then after some discussion, I was asked what could they do to get my business TODAY. My response was to match one of my lower bids from another company. When the estimator started to refigure the price, I said I was done. If he could give me a lower price, why didn't I get it from the start. To me - this is high pressure tactics and I have learned from experience, that if you submit to this type of sales pitch, there is usually something you will regret later. On a positive side, the representative at the Homearama was very polite, not pushy and very helpful. However, based on their (company) sales tactic - I would not recommend this company to others nor would I use them in the future.

We spent about $3500 on that service. That service was awesome. The guy came out to explain how the insulation worked and he was very professional. They called and set up an appointment and the supervisor came out to make sure the workers showed up on time. They gave us a window time for them to come and they came and got the job done. They were very professional and did not take very long. It is a special type of insulation that they used. The sales person that we interacted with was good.

Thought BJ's would back a reputable contractor. WRONG! Good thing I always check Angie's List before going any further.
Description of Work: Asked for an estimate for replacing my heat pump system via BJ's Wholesale Club in Virginia Beach. An agent for Best Value called this afternoon to schedule an appointment. She indicated that my wife absolutely had to be present when they made the estimate. This, of course, is very indicative that someone's going to arrive with a high pressure hose to get an instant commitment with signatures from the home owners. Avoid this approach at all (eliminate unnecessary) costs!

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our company. We do everything we can to maintain the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction. It sounds like this issue was a lack of communication on our part. We by no means "absolutely require" both husband and wife to be present for an estimate. What the representative was trying to explain is that we advise anyone that has an interest in the home be present during the initial consultation so that they know exactly what modifications we propose to make to their property. It is simply a way that we can provide superior service by informing and educating our customers as to our different products. Again, I am sorry you had a bad experience, and we would love the opportunity to make it up to you.

They came out and gave us a three hour song and dance about the features of their windows and all the wonderful things. The sales person emphasized many times his honesty. His was the second quote that I got, so it seemed much more reasonable than the previous provider. It seemed like what I had heard for a window job and I finally signed a contract with him. I made the mistake of going ahead and signing the contract with him and gave him the deposit of $2000 and he went away. Then I started talking to some other people and they said that it was way out of line and some other provider told me that they can do it for lesser. We had to send a fax of the cancellation form that they gave us, which I did. They never would acknowledge that I had even sent them the fax. They said that I had to go and see them because they wanted to keep the contract. My wife drove down to hand deliver the document to them. The only way she got out of there is by telling that she had to catch her daughter when she came off the bus because they wanted to keep her there, wanted to talk to her and wanted to persuade. A couple of days later they called us and said that I had to sign another form to cancel the contract, when we had actually done what we needed to do. I argued back and forth with the person on the phone about this but they wanted to send a person out to get us to sign the document. I said if he comes with my money, he can come. The sales person said that all the windows were guaranteed for life. I specifically asked him if it was the seals on the windows guaranteed for life, he said yes everything was guaranteed for life. He didn't have the documents that specified that in writing and he said he will fax to me. What he faxes to me is a glass breakage warranty and when I asked him about it, he said break the windows and we will replace the whole window. I said I'm not going to deal with you forever. That to me is fraud and being dishonest. I'm really honest and straight forward. He finally came out to my house with the cheque and asked me how the experience was. I handed him he the signed document and threw him out of the house.

I purchased windows and a french door after a high-pressure salesman came to my house in April of 2008. The windows were installed within a few weeks by two morons that licked their fingers to smooth the caulking that still isn't smooth. The door came in about 2 months later and was installed by the same morons who were going to leave bugs, leaves, and just general gunk in the door frame and just install the new one over that. They didn't do a very good job with the installation of the door knob, screen, etc. Suffice it to say, it has taken me 2 years to get a door installed properly. I would NEVER use this company again.

Salesperson took first set of measurements and advised that a someone would come out to take a second set of measurements prior to ordering windows. So far so good. However, even after two sets of measurements two of the windows showed up at the wrong size (one of them off by 8 inches), so they had to be reordered. Based on a prior Angies List report, we requested not to have Robbie work on our house, but that's who was assigned anyway. When we objected, they scrambled to get another crew at the last minute. Maybe this was why the crew didn't show up until 9:30 on the first day. Ronnie was really great, but one of his workers was so forceful removing windows that he left some gauges in our windowsills and some of the caulking was below par. They tell you that your yard will be thoroughly cleaned up, but we feel they could have done a much better job in this area, and I had to have my carpet cleaned after they were gone as well. They guarantee a 35% savings on my utilities after a year, so only time will tell if I really save as much as they expect. I truly expect some savings as my old windows had actual drafts.

Craftmanship and workmanship were acceptable; I felt I had to watch the job the entire time. They arrived a little late in the morning, but the weather was questionable; it was raining earlier in the morning. The entire job was completed in one day. They had eight workers for the job. I went with them based on there association with BJ's. Igot a 15% discount. They arranged financing with 90 day no interest no pre-payment penalty; rate was OK. Overall I feel the price for the job was pricey.
Description of Work: Wrapped the house rack boards, freeze boards, one window and door, and faccia with vinyl coated aluminum; replaced existing perforated soffit with hidden vent soffit; replaced gutters and downspouts. Trim, soffit and gutters all matched. They replaced rotted wood where needed (replaced a rotted porch column instead of patching up the rotted section). Actually, the work is STILL not finished but since I had to put in a date I choose today. Written Agreement was signed on March 14, 2009. After reviewing written agreement it appeared these were not the windows demonstrated. We had to waste our time going to the office because salesperson didn't write up order correctly. The windows arrived and installation scheduled for Thursday, April 2. April 2 - It's raining (wait for it). The windows were installed. My "custom" window got shimmed in just like they said it wouldn't! The workers left nails sticking out of the trim, did a terrible caulking job AND used my bathroom without permission. I would have said yes but it wasn't in the contract. The worst part is they left caulking on my soap dispenser and on the faucet handles. I call and complain and am given the number of the Crew Manager, Robbie. April 3 - The crew manager, Robbie came out to inspect the work. Promises to come and redo. April 6 - Redo @ 10:00, 10:40 no call. I call! Can't do it today, it's raining! (see April 2). I remind them of the rain on April 2. They will send Robbie. At 12:50 he calls to see if I still want him to come! I say I was told he was on his way! April 7 - Robbie calls, he's sick. April 8 - Robbie calls, running behind, can't make 10:00. Comes at 2:00. He says the wrong sash was installed in the master bedroom and that's why it won't lock and there is a whistling noise and the screen won't fit. Orders new sash. Will call when it comes in. April 30 - I call! New sash is in! Wow, what a miracle just when I called! Robbie sets appointment for May 1 @ 11:00. May 1 - 11:00, no show. I wait till Noon to call - he is running behind and will be a bit late. I wait till 3:30 and call again. This time no one answers and no one returns my call. May 4 - It is almost 9:01 so I am expecting a call, or am I??? What a mess! This should have been over and done with on April 2 now it has been over a month and the job is still unfinished!
Description of Work: Tore out old windows at the front of the house. Hauled away debris. Replaced with energy efficient argon-gas filled new windows.

I had a lot of problems with this company and the work performed. The sliding glass door leaked water in my home whenever it rained. The front door did not match up with the lock. I called this company seven times and finally got them back out here to correct their mistakes. The workmen were nice enough, but the work was bad. They did give me a $200 discount for all the mess up.
Description of Work: They installed three doors for me: a front wood door, storm door and a sliding glass door in our kitchen.

All the windows were very energy efficient, and were installed according to precise specifications. It only took two days for a crew to install all the windows, and we are very pleased with them.
Description of Work: We had 15 new slider windows installed (including one huge window).
