Billy and Patrick came by for an estimate, and were very friendly and thorough in their assessment of what we wanted and what needed to be done. We accepted the estimate and work started 5 days later. The job took a couple days longer than estimated, and the crew generally didn't show up until 1100 or so, but they worked hard when they were here and did a good job. The final product looks excellent; it appears to be well constructed and of high quality workmanship, and the gates were widened from their original sizes to better allow access to our back yard. The issues we had were with communication (particularly no final walk around to make sure everything looked good) and incomplete clean-up. We didn't get the gate springs installed on the walk-though gate we were supposed to, and the final debris pile of some of the old fence material and bush trimmings were left at the curb and never picked up (we ended up putting in a request for bulk pick-up with the city). The final clean-up around the new fence was not very thorough either, with sizable chunks of old concrete from the old posts and random pieces of trash left in our yard, and debris and clay piles left around the pool pump area where the fence was also replaced. When I called Billy about the final debris pile by the curb and the gate springs, he didn't return my call until 8 days later (after we had the city haul it away), and he said he would have someone over to put the springs on, which has still not happened a month later. Overall, they produce a high quality product, but do not have good follow-through on the final presentation, communication, and closed-loop customer service.

after finally connecting with the owner he did come out promptly and gave me an estimate of the repair cost. I found the price fair. Work was scheduled for the next day. the provider came out and work was completed over and above my satisfaction. also for an additional fee he removed some branches that were hanging over the roof of the house. I found the provider friendly and knowledgeable

My husband and I were looking for a good company to install a new privacy fence. We contacted Armor Fence Company twice through Angie's list and twice by phone. Had to leave messages every time. The first 2 contacts were made in March and the last 2 were made in June. It's June 20, 2014 now, and they still have NEVER contacted us back so that we could arrange for someone to do an estimate. Never even returned the call! Beware of this company unless you don't care that they won't contact you.

It went very well. They were one of the few punctual providers I have encountered in the area. There was one messup with trying to get them on the phone but the owner was upset about that and it hasn't happened since. They did give us a bit of a military discount. They were very nice, punctual, and worked diligently. We have recommended them to neighbors and plan to use them again if we ever need something else that they offer.

Showed up 2 1/2 hours late for the job. After he said he was done with the job, I went out to the yard and saw he did not remove or fix two of the broken fence panel. So, he and his friend Robert had to return to the job to fix them. After they told me the work was done (for the second time), I paid them. I went out later to inspect and saw that the front gate panel (that was replaced) was not evenly matched up with the original panels, and the side gap that I was told would be fixed had not been touched. Do yourself a favor- do not hire this provider. I'm amazed they have received the reviewed they did. William did not provide me with a receipt and I had to write the name of his 'sister' on my check.

I called Armor on the afternoon of April 9th. I spoke to Billy who said he would be out around 5PM on April 10th for an estimate. I was glad for such a quick response. He did not show up at 5PM so I called to find out if he was still coming. He said he forgot but would be right over. He showed up about 7PM. Despite him not being on time, he was sincere and experienced. He gave me a verbal estimate that seemed reasonable and said he could start on April 12th. That was great since my gate no longer worked. They were supposed to be out about 10AM Saturday but showed up about noon. Billy and three others took down the gate and set the posts for the new fence and gate. They also did some tree work while they were working which was a wonderful bonus for me. They left and were supposed to come back later that day. They did not show up, did not call and did to show up on April 13th either. I called several times and left messages but no one returned my calls. I was concerned because I did not have a written contract with them. Two of Billy's men showed up around noon on April 14th. They finished the fence and gate that day. The did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I had no paperwork for this job and even the check was made out to one of the men, not to Armor fence. I think that anyone hiring Armor should be aware that the work will be done and completed well, but that they are not punctual and don't return calls but will honor their promises. Also, I was very thankful for the extra work performed without charge. They are all good people but Billy needs to be more professional in the running of his business. I would hire them again, but I would insist on a written contract for the work to be performed. Update: After only 3 months the top of the fence has warped badly. Also the hardware had begun to rust. Another builder advised that the wrong type of wood was put on the top and the hardware was not properly installed. I tried to reach Armor but could not after leaving several messages. Apparently the quality of the materials is poor and I expect I will need to replace the gate very soon. I will definitely use a different company.

Billy Winsor (the owner of Armor Fence and Deck) returned my call in a reasonable amount of time and arrived at my residence on time. The price negotiation went well although I thought that the price was a little on the high side; however, I wanted the work done rather quickly and he said that he could start the work within a couple of days and complete the job within a week if the weather permitted. Mr. Winsor lived up to his word with regard to the start and completion times and I do not have any problems with the quality of work done or with the amount of time that it took to complete the job. Having said that, the workers smoked on premises without first asking my approval, trampled my flowers, left debris throughout the yard, and left mud, dirt, and sawdust all over my previously pristine clean deck. Mr. Winsor appears to conduct business with very little operating funds and asked that I meet him at various material supply stores so that I could write the actual checks for the supplies purchased. I was called by a supplier on another occasion to provide a credit card for an additional purchase of supplies. The most disturbing aspect of this contract is the fact that Mr. Winsor did not have funds on hand to pay his workers when the job was completed. I pay all major transactions from an out of state account. When Mr. Winsor was unable to obtain immediate cash when he went to the bank to cash the check he called me and asked if I could pay in cash so that he could pay his workers. When I told him that I would not pay cash he asked if I could write a check to his sister instead. While the work was completed in a timely manner and the quality of work was good, I recommend caution when dealing with someone who wants you to pay for supplies as you go and desires payment in cash. I do not recommend Armor Fence and Deck.

I reached Billy immediately, the first time I called him. His schedule allowed him to come out and give me an estimate same day. His estimate was more than fair (given what I knew the materials would cost alone) and we agreed to start work the following Monday. He gave me a time frame for when he'd be here and he arrived very close to that. I'm not one of those people who counts it against people if they're a few minutes late, I have family in the roofing business and I am well aware that it takes time when getting set to do a job. Billy had two others assisting him and we were really shocked by how fast they worked. They were here approximately from 10-4 the first day and I'm guessing about the same the next day (I had to leave to go to work, so can't be sure). They did lots of little extras for us while here (without charging). The most important of which was hauling to the curb a lot of heavy scrap and trash that was not project related- it was just stuff that the previous owners had left on the property. We appreciated this very much. The new fencing and gates are gorgeous. I had looked at many pictures online while trying to figure out what would look good in our neighborhood without being too pricey. In the end I just let Billy handle the details and the finished product looks way better than expected. Zero issues. Thanks Billy!

I called Armor for an estimate based on reviews on Angie's. Mr. Winsor (Billy) arrived for the estimate on time. Billy was extremely energetic, very accommodating and knowledgeable. He offered suggestions which helped me make some design decisions. In one area my fence runs very close to my neighbor's fence - a larger fence company I interviewed said in that area they'd have to turn the finished fence inward because they couldn't get into the small space to work (I wanted the fence framing to face into my yard). I asked Billy about this area and he told me no problem at all - they could build it as I wanted (he didn't blink an eye at this request). Other than that, this was a basic tear down and rebuild of 283ft of wood privacy fence. There were some issues - some fence boards were missing nails at the top or bottom frames, some boards had only a couple of nails holding them up, the cuts on the bottom of the double gate were off. There was old concrete left around the yard. Now - having said that, in Billy's defense – he and his crew were working in horrible weather conditions - during the coldest week we've had in this area in many years. These guys were working in 17 degree weather; it was freezing cold, blowing wind with some rain that week. They worked through the freezing rain! He tried to plow through the weather to finish my job within the week. I called Billy one day and told him not to show up – no one should have to work under those conditions. I didn't hold any points from Billy for the few items he needed to fix. I know if weather conditions were humanly acceptable this would have been a perfect build the first time. Billy stayed in touch with me letting me know when he was coming back to fix the fence. The weather finally gave us an acceptable day and Billy came back to haul away old concrete, ensure the boards had proper number of nails, and that everything was perfect. He left me with extra fence boards in the event I need to replace a board in the future. Billy is a very likeable person and you get a sense he truly cares about his work and satisfying his customers. He is an extremely hard worker, and literally never stops. I would definitely hire Armor again in the future – when the weather is better. The only reason I posted about the issues above was to show that Billy will work hard to ensure you’re satisfied with your project and with his work. Some contractors never show up again after being paid – Billy is not that guy. He is conscientious, an excellent carpenter, hardworking, and will leave you with excellent results.
Description of Work: 3/24/14- I've updated the score from B to A. After trying to work with other crews on outdoor project, Billy deserves the "A". I've found there are other crews that won't work unless it's above 50 degrees. Billy will attempt to work through any weather. Removed old Privacy fence. Replace with 283 Ft. of new wooden privacy fencing with one double gate and one single gate.

Billy came out within hours of us calling, gave us several options on types of wood, hardware gates and styles. He removed all the old chain link, posts and concrete, installed 208' of 6' cedar fence, 2 gates and made it all look great in less than 3days. We paid for all the materials, he picked them up and delivered them and when the job was complete we paid him the balance. Some people may find this a little odd but was nice actually seeing where the money went. Overall I would recommend billy to anyone I know.

I called Armor Fence. Billy met me at the house and gave me an estimate. I called him several weeks later to start the job. The repairs went as planned and they are now complete. I am an extremely satisfied customer, and I recommend Billy and his team.

The Good: First and foremost, the quality of the work performed was impeccable and we could not be more happy. We had received multiple estimates and ultimately chose Armor due to their experience and perfectionism when it comes to quality. If you are looking for someone that will deliver the highest quality product at a competitive price choose Armor. Billy and his crew worked tirelessly to complete the job in 2 days. Billy works and supervises the entire project to make sure it is correct. The fence is perfectly level, is precisely on the property line and is sturdy. The gates were both hand made and look and function great. The bad: There was a communication issue early on where I was expecting Billy to begin working early Saturday and they were not able to show up until later that afternoon. After almost changing my mind we smoothed things out and I got a better understanding of Billy as the project progressed. His intentions are sound and he was wanted to tell me what I wanted to hear in terms of starting time, but finishing another project held him back. The takeaway from this for prospective clients is to be patient and communicate with him. He's a very genuine person and a hard worker and once we were on the same page I was glad that I did not change my mind. The quality of the work performed far outweighs the hiccup early on. Other details: Materials are ordered at home depot and you can go pay for the work order there and they transport the materials to your house. It was an easy process and they estimated the materials needed right on the money. Overall: I searched in the area for a while for the right people to replace our old fence and interacted with several prospective companies. I hope this review helps others in a similar situation when I say that you will not be disappointed if you choose Armor to do your work. They stay busy and work hard to make sure you are happy. I am 100% satisfied with the work and relieved that I made the right choice for such an important project.

Armor returned our call for an estimate within 20 minutes and provided a detailed estimate within 24 hrs. The price and quality of workmanship was outstanding, they even stayed late to get fence posts set the first day. The completed job was done beautifully, the cleanup and staging of all damaged fence and landscape was neatly stacked curbside for bulk pickup. I absolutely recommend this company and will use them again this spring for other fence and tree work.

The installation was slightly stalled due to the weather but the fence was installed as promised and it looks fantastic. The crew was not as professional as I thought they should be and communication left a lot to be desired. As understood we paid for supplies but they were greatly overestimated which prompted repeat visits to Home Depot to refund material. Again, the fence installation looks great, I just felt the service side left a little to be desired.

Billy responded quickly to our e-mail request for an estimate. They were short-manned that week, so it was hit-or-miss making contact with him, but he found the time to review the project and complete the job within a 3-day period! I was very impressed with their workmanship, and they did a great job cleaning up when they were done. Looking back, I probably would have asked for a written estimate (vice verbal), but the project was very simple so it didn't seem necessary. I would absolutely recommend Billy and his guys for future projects, and will use him again if I need future work done on my deck. I was especially impressed that they were willing to do a couple of quick-fix jobs at our neighbor's property and quot;on the houseand quot;. Pricing was more than fair!

Billy, Tim and crew did a fine job on our backyard fencing project. They were very responsive when called for the estimate. If my records are correct, we met on Sunday the 21st, I visited another one of their jobs on the 23rd and finalized pricing and details and they started our job on the 25th. Our fence keeps our dog as well as two of our neighbor's dogs secured, so timing was pretty important. The crew was able to start earlier than planned, so I ran around late the night before to let the neighbors know what was going on. One of the big draws for us with this company was that Billy said he would be hand picking the materials. That didn't really happen with the framing lumber and I shared with them that they may want to reconsider where they purchased their 2and quot;x4and quot;s and 4and quot;x4and quot;s as Home Depot's seemed quite rough to me. (we decided to have the finished/nice side out on our installation) There were a few post holes that were barely covered up and one or two that were simply cut off discovered after the installation of the new fence. We were told by Tim that these existed from a previous fence and that is why they were not filled or removed by Armor. We asked to keep some of the old posts to use as landscaping timber for around a swing set and was told the nails would be removed and the the posts would be stacked for our later use. They failed to remove the nails, but they did leave us quite a stack of wood. Our two year old son has not been out there playing with the posts yet, but I'm going to need to pull those nails or dispose of the wood soon. We had to have them come back out a couple times to pull some nails, do some finish work and tweak the gap on our gate, all to be expected for such a big job. One thing I had meant to call back about, but they really wouldn't be able to do anything, was that they seemed to use a slightly too long of a nail while installing the cedar pickets. Our fence material is 5/8and quot; and they are nailed to a 2and quot;x4and quot; and the very sharp pointy ends of the stainless steel nails are protruding through the inside of the fence. We had a few of these taken care of after the walk-around, but it seems like this happened quite a bit on our job. My theory is that the nails were a little too long or the nail gun was set too high and instead of the nail head being flush with the finish side of the picket, they are counter-sunk, causing it to stick out the other end. I have no doubt that Billy would do whatever it takes to keep a customer satisfied. I hate being that guy who keeps calling back though. I think it would do them very well to have the same person who sells the job be the one to do the final finishing touches and quality control at the end of the job. There is no way for all of the guys to know what the customer's final expectations for the job will be and whether those expectations were completely met.
Description of Work: Removed 342' of mostly dilapidated 6' fencing and posts. Set 36 posts with 2,700 pounds of concrete and installed 264' of 6', 4" wide dog ear cedar fencing and a 5' gate.

In general, I have tended to use larger companies for any contracting, and I have been somewhat disappointed by the outcome. This time I took a chance of a smaller outfit, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Billy showed up the first day full of energy and enthusiasm. His 4 man crew put the fence up in 2 days, and by the end they were all still full of energy and enthusiastic. No shortcuts or shoddy work, no messes left behind, no annoying or unprofessional behavior. One thing they did, which I thought unusual but later appreciated, was they had me pay for the supplies at home depot. Some companies want money upfront for supplies, but they went to home depot, picked out everything, and I met them there and paid for it. I think this is a good system, minimizes the chances of someone taking your deposit and never doing the work. If you hire this company, you must understand that it is a 4 man crew. Some of the negative reviews I have seen on angies list have to do with this fact directly. Billy runs the company, and he is on site for the whole job with his crew. That means he can't be at another site making an estimate, and as you all know, sometimes jobs run long. I would advise people to be patient with the estimate process, because once they get working on your job, they will see it through with attention to detail. Also, I got estimates from 4 companies, and theirs was one of the best on price, not rock bottom, but not ridiculously high like some. I wish all of my contractor experiences went as smoothly as this one.

I called Armor Fence and Deck on a Monday afternoon and left a message on their voicemail. I received a call back on Tuesday evening. I explained what I was looking for and I was told that they can be out for an estimate on Wednesday afternoon between 4-5pm. No one came, and I didn't receive a call until 6:30pm. The man who spoke with me explained that and quot;We have been really busy today. We are out by Mount Trashmore and can be there in 30-40 minutes.and quot; I told him that it would be too late for me and asked for another appointment for Thursday instead. He stated and quot; That would be fine. We have a staff meeting in the morning, but we will call you once it's over (between 9-10am) and let you know what time we will be there.and quot; Thursday morning came and went and I did not hear from them until 6:45pm. The person who called stated and quot;We have been really busy today. We can be there in 30-40 minutesand quot;. I told him that he was late the night before, and I waited for him to call or show up all day today and that I was done, and I am going to pass on using him. He said and quot;I'm real sorry, but we have been really busy today...and quot; I cut him off, told him thanks, but no thanks and hung up.
Description of Work: There were no services performed, he never even got out for an estimate.

Billy came out the day I initially called him to give an estimate. His estimate was very reasonable and I booked him right away. Within a week he called back and said they had finished another job early and asked if they could come later that day (to which I said of course)! They arrived with all the supplies they needed and did an exceptional job. They were quick and effective and we have an very nice fence. They had to cut down into some roots and did not take any shortcuts. They picked up all the pieces of tree/shrubs afterward and took everything with them. We have a 2 year old son and while we were keeping him out of the way, they were great with him! These guys were the right guys at the right price and we HIGHLY recommend them!
Description of Work: We had a 70 linear foot fence between an existing wood fence and a chain link fence. The fence they installed is amazing! The efficiency and quality for the price are unmatched!
