He was fine, it went good. He was there for about 30 minutes. The best part of the service was everything.

We're on a service agreement with them. It is always professionally done, they answer all my questions. It normally takes a half hour to 45 minutes to service the system. The provider that comes out is very professional. He cleans up very well. The service is awesome.

They did a great job. I give an A plus. They did more than I asked for and did a great job. Whatever the price was, it was fine. Quality was great. Responsiveness was quick, I remember.

We were very happy with them. They came about 2 days after I submitted the project on Angie's List. They knowledge and willingness to explain what he was doing stood out to me.

Excellent work by the handyman, and since I needed new springs, he deducted the cost of my Angie's List purchase from the service cost, thereby making it an especially good deal to perform the needed repairs to the spring system.

They're conscientious, on time, do good work.

I purchased the replacement toilets and shut off valves at HD and American Mechanical replaced them. They really worked with me on scheduling due to my floor guy running a bit late. Front office scheduler was OUTSTANDING, Travis provided the service and he was professional and to the point. They disposed of the old toilets which was one thing I was not looking forward to. There was a miscommunication in cost when settling up at the end of the job (didn't subtract the 250 certificate I purchased on Angieslist for one toilet replacement) but a call to the service manager straightened it out quickly. I would hire them again.

I've worked with them in the past before so I've always had good work from them.

I remember not applying for credit, but they still give me a credit. It was not clear enough to me that I was applying for credit card. I would use them in the future.

This has been the worst experience and I want every reader to be aware if you are considering them to service your home. We paid this company nearly $500 to do generator maintenance and a battery installation that we purchased. First, don't mistakenly miss the call they make when they are 30-60 minutes out and on their way. They will cancel your appointment as they did to us, even after I spoke to and confirmed the appointment with them less than 24 hours ago. This is, in my opinion, a company trying to get out of appointments due to over scheduling and booking too many appointments with not enough workers. Next, the technician that came out to the 2nd rescheduled appointment to repair our generator was professional, the management, not so much. I called repeatedly after my service call for several weeks and spoke to a supervisor over the fact that the technician who serviced my generator repaired it, but unfortunately did not completely repair the system correctly which left my generator running 24 hours non-stop. After speaking with a supervisor he agreed to call me back to schedule a follow up. A few weeks later after no call back, I called him and he apologized and scheduled my follow up appointment and said since this was a follow up to the previous repair it would be no service charge. Then after taking off work that day to be home for this 3rd scheduled appointment, I called the company when my 8am-12pm window came and went with no sign of a call or visit from American Mechanical. When I called to check the status, they said you are right you did have an appointment, but because we are in the middle of a terrible storm and have several emergencies happening, we cannot make it to your home today. This is terrible customer service. No one even bothered to call to notify me of this and since when does someone’s emergency give a company to completely ignore my 2 week out scheduled appointment. So I again called to speak with management and this time spoke with the Manager/Owner over the supervisor I’ve talked to for the past several weeks. She then had the audacity to tell me that the company would charge me another $150 just to get the technician to come back out and that the other supervisor was wrong for telling me that it would be no charge. I tried to explain to her that her technician never properly completed the first job and that my generator continued to run non-stop and she did not care and insisted that if I wanted them to come back out, it would be $150. There was no interest in customer satisfaction, no “I’m sorry for all of the inconvenience”. I will be sure to spread the word to anyone who will listen at how disgusted I am and how I was treated. They were considered a leading contender for some upcoming services being done in my neighborhood’s city water installation, but I certainly will not be calling them for our home’s installation.

Once again, I received exceptional service from Mr. John Conaway, HVAC Solutions Specialist, who had been one of the individuals who originally installed my Nexia Home Intelligence system, and Mr. Robert Smith, who accompanied him this time. They both are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and talented and are willing to go to any length to resolve the problem. They simply would not give up until they had everything working properly again. Robert's IT expertise proved to be particularly helpful in diagnosing and solving the problem. I was delighted with the high level of customer service exhibited by both of these consummate professionals.

The work went well. They were professional, courteous, and did a pretty good job.

It was wonderful. The technician Jon Connaway and the electrician Steve were extremely knowledgeable, helpful and patient.

Provider came out to investigate a leak and determined it to be hot water heater. This was first thing in the AM on a Friday. Provider called me (I was at a doctor's appointment) and I returned the call 16 minutes later. I was told I would get an estimate for repair emailed today and that the leak was very slow and just needed to be vacuumed out of the drip pan every so often. . Meanwhile the tenant has been having to vacuum out drip pan every 30 minutes or it overflows. I called company and was told I didn't return the technicians call for an hour so it would be at least Monday before I had an estimate. Of course (got to love cell phones) I can show it was 16 minute2 and not an hour based on my call log. The company does not care that the heater is leaking and causing water damage to the house. I am not sure how they are rated an "A" which is why I chose them over other companies. I am highly disappointed. I have already called another provider.

Home office sent annual maintenance reminder by USPS. We scheduled an appointment on a convenient day and time. Mechanic arrived on time and immediately began work after inquiring if we we had any problems or questions about the genterator's performance. Even though this is a Virginia Beach company, they have service personnel and maintenance trucks in the Newport-Hampton-Williamsburg area on constant stand-by.

It was a Monday evening when my daughter informed me that the floor in front of her bedroom was wet and that the ceiling was leaking. I immediately went up into the attic and found that the A/C unit was leaking. I placed a mop bucket under the leak to capture the water until I could call someone to come out in the morning. I called my usual HVAC company I have used for the past 10 years, only to find that the owner retired and all of the calls to their number are now going to a new company. I made an appointment with them for Wed evening and then started to research said company. After a few minutes, I found that they were a company I used in the past and swore to never use again, which I will not go into here. Once I realized this, I called them back and canceled my appointment. I then checked the A/C manufacturers website for companies certified to work on their equipment, then cross-referenced those names on Angie's List. American Mechanical Inc., got my call. I called them and explained to them what was going on. With it being 100 degrees outside, and who knows how hot upstairs, I told the woman I talked to that they can come out the next day (Wed.). She insisted they come out today since the issue was causing property damage, I reiterated I could wait for a cooler day, but she said they would be out later that day between 3-5pm. I received a call during that time from John C. who informed me he was on his way and would be at my place in 10 minutes. !0 minutes later he pulled up and I explained to him what was going on as I showed him the way up to the attic. Within minutes, he has evaluated the issue and told me what the problem was, the steps that would need to be taken to make the repairs, as well as the price. I agreed, and he went out to the van to get the necessary parts. He was finished with the repairs in a short amount of time and was on his way. Even though I feel the cost was a bit high for the parts used, I fully appreciated the fact that American Mechanical Inc. took me as a new client and treated me like I had been one for years. I will be sure to use them, hopefully, for the next 10+ years.

I e-mailed my request for service on an air handler that they installed two years ago and I received no response. But, upon calling their office my request was handled in a very quick and professional manor. American Mechanical made all repairs and replaced the refrigerant that was lost due to a leak. at no cost.

Louis Bradley surveyed my shop, asked me what I wanted to do and gave me a recommendation. He provided a 'Free' estimate and the price for this unit was half the cost of one of his competitors. We scheduled the install (February 2015) and he estimated it would take half a day. The technicians showed up 30 minutes early for the appointment. They were cordial and professional and completed the job within 4 hours. They cleaned up when they were done and did not leave any trace they were there except for the new unit. I immediately started using the heat from this split system and was extremely pleased with the temperature control this unit provided (72 F) for the remainder of the cold weather. Louis said he would call me in June to see how the unit did cooling. He called me today (18 June 2015) and I told him I turned the unit to cool on Thursday, 11 June 2015 and set the temperature to 77 F. It has remained a constant 77 F through all of the recent high 90 F temps and on the 102 F day we have had thus far. I chose American Mechanical because I purchased a 'Guardian"' 17 Kw generator from them a few years back. Their turn-key price was $1400.00 lower than Dominion Power. This product has been under their maintenance contract since installation so I was familiar with their professional office staff and technicians. We have been pleased with this unit also. Give them a call, and I guarantee you will be impressed with their operation and their competitive pricing.

Do use this company. All of my service calls were successful. Great provider!

Problem - heat/HVAC stopped working. Made claim to Home Warranty of America and they sent out HVAC tech that spent 2 hours going through HVAC and thoroughly troubleshooting problem to determine it wasn't coming from the HVAC but likely the electrical box (HVAC would work but trip circuit breaker every 10-30min). American Electrical came out first - DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible customer service care, horrible tech response time and evaluation, and badmouthed all HVAC guys before even opening the electrical panel, and was in and out in 10min. American Mechanical was sent out by home warranty company to re-check for electrical problem. They called shortly after getting off phone with home warranty, came out that evening (after 5pm "normal business hours") without any fuss, addressed the problem thoroughly and explained the issue. They didn't think the breaker was completely bad, but likely loose screws causing it to trip, and changed it anyways. Temps were in the 20s that week and my house was in the low 50's by this time of 20 hours no heat so I just wanted something to be done to get place warmed up. He changed out the breaker and stayed a bit longer to see if it tripped again. There were no further problems! The tech was kind and professional. I will definitely call them first for any electrical issues that arise.

Explained everything to me and showed me what he was going to do. Checked to make sure his adjustments provided the more effective air flow for the house to maintain consistent temps upstairs and down. James C was great! When I called they offered me a next day appointment (Sat) for the same $49 service cost. If work was performed the service charge was waived, and it was.

The service was good. They were really quick. There were no additional charges to the Big Deal. I would refer them. They were good and fair. I would use them again.

They were very responsive and came the same afternoon. The heating man came and said it was not in the heating pipes which had been misdiagnosed by a different plumbing company. The plumbing man with American Mechanical then came the same day and replaced two sections of water line and fixed the problem. I was very pleased with the work, responsiveness and price.

He was quick, efficient. He took the time to explain & show me the problem and how it possibly occurred. He then went to the store and purchased a new faucet set up and installed it in no time. He gave me some best practices to help ensure the problem didn't occur again.
