Ace Home Improvements

We needed our porch rails, columns, and handrails replaced due to age and rotting. I searched on Angie’s list and found Ace Home Improvement. After reading the reviews the majority of them were positive. So, we chose them. I called and they returned the call promptly. A guy came to the house, looked everything over, and gave his price for the repairs. We agreed on the price and signed their contract. We had to pay them half advance. ( $2000). At the time the guy said he would start on Monday and have it finished by Tuesday evening . ( He said this on a Friday night). What should have been a two day job turned into a week and a half calamity. They never showed on Monday or Tuesday until the afternoon because I called to find out what the holdup was. Excuses, excuses. I asked if no one was coming next time, please call and let me know. I had taken time off from work to be there. Well, it happened again and no one called.( I had taken another day off). More excuses. They showed up the next day and got down to business. The following day was just a finish-up day. When they were”finished”, they came looking for the check for the balance of payment. My wife asked why the columns weren’t done and they told her they were told to only do hand rails and porch rails!! What?? My wife showed them the contract which clearly stated handrails. porch rails, and 8 columns. The guy got the owner on the phone where the owner told my wife that was not what we agreed on and he would never have agreed to that because he would have to take a loss, etc. He went round and round with her and made no sense. The bottom line was it was clearly stated in the contract and that he should be shouting at this employee -not my wife. I have never heard of any reputable business owner arguing against what was so blatantly wrong on his end and so ridiculously obvious. He just didn’t want to honor the contract. He wanted my wife to feel sorry for him. He also told her he tried to call me and left a message but he never did!!! I tried calling him and left a message. My wife withheld the check for the balance and told the worker that she would be speaking to a lawyer if things were not handled properly. The owner finally called me way later and said he would honor the contract. I found out later that the worker confided in my wife and told her that the owner had called him and asked him “what should I do”? Really?? How about doing the right thing ?!!! By then I had looked at the work that was done and found the slats in the handrails were at a hideous angle-completely incorrect!!!! Also one of the handrails was loose and wiggling quite a bit!! The guy had broken the brick it was attached to and left it like that!!!!!! Really????? Where is the pride in workmanship??? So the owner was called again and after more excuses, calls, etc., they finally came out and finished the columns and fixed handrails. Unbelievable.!!!!! Also I saw on my security camera that one of the workers had been bringing his dog with him and letting him relieve himself in our yard!! Who brings a dog on the job without at least asking? He had also been walking through our flower bed-using it as a shortcut!!! My wife was not happy. There are foot prints imbedded in the flower bed too because the soil was soft after raining!! >:( I hired this company because I really didn’t have the time to do the work myself and wanted to spare myself the stress involved considering I full time. Let me tell you, this whole incident was so stressful for my wife and myself!!! I will never, ever, hire this company again! Please heed my words! I’m not one who comments on sites, but this was reason enough to let others know

It went great! It took a little longer than expected only because in the process additional water damage was found. My experience over the past year with contractors is that they do not respond to your calls. Not the case with Ace. Brandon called me within 2 days of my posting and met me when he said he would. He began the day we had agreed upon and if he was running a little behind during the job, he would always call and let me know. He performed the work professionally and did a great job. The company owner followed up with me to see if I was satisfied with the job and to thank me for choosing Ace to do my work.

Looks great! Steve was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We love the door, and when we are ready to replace our exterior doors, we will definetely hire them again.

Ace Home Improvement uninstalled our old air conditioning system and installed our new unit professionally, promptly and worked with our busy schedules. Steve Lyon, the owner of Ace Home Improvement, followed up on all the work accomplished by his employees and continued to check with us to be sure everything was working correctly. He is very professional and runs an extremely professional business. I will call him the next time I need anything on my home repaired or replaced. (Because of their work on our AC system we also had Ace install a weather-proof roof system on our deck so we can enjoy it all year; it looks great and works perfectly.)

Very polite, but waited excessive periods of time to complete projects. Some of the work had to be redone.

Very well. Able to work around my schedule once they found a technician to do the work in my timeframe. They had a huge obstacle to overcome. House built in 1909 and original door very unlevel. Other appraisal was 3 times the price (although much more bells and whistles) Mark was very friendly and ended up helping me with much more in addition to the door. Highly recommended!

They were able to send out a guy to re-shim the door and get it in proper working order within a week of calling them. That was pretty amazing given that this was a small job for a contractor to fix. Other, less experienced people would have just replaced the door but the guy from Ace took the time and shimmed the door frame till it worked properly. The door was twisted and he instinctively knew what to do to fix it. It was a little expensive but well worth it now that I can use my back door once again!

They had a guy doing work in the area and were able to make the repair the same day. The work they did was excellent. I would highly recommend Ace Home Improvements.

Ace had the sliding door lock and shipped it to a local Ace Hardware - easy.

Although the responsiveness was not immediate, they called me to set a date for the work and the price was good. I received a call the morning of the work verifying address and advising time. Two guys came, very courteous and did a great job. the work was very clean and they kept me updated .

He came on time fixed flashing, put siding back up and has everything back the way it was with windows.

Service rep was on time, courteous and a professional. Job well executed!

I was able to get a quick and accurate response from the company, and they had someone out within a day or two. I haven't had any issues with leaking since their visit.

I called them for an estimate. They owner said it wouldn't be no more than $1000.00. He sent the production manager, Ryan, out to my home and the guy charged me $1500.00. The quote, $750.00 was actually given and never honored. He didn't come on time. He was several hours late. Some of the work was cracked and needs adjustments. The production manager, was disrespectful to the max. The second guy that was with him kept spitting towards my foot. I felt like he was trying to intimidate me. The entire experience was horrible. He also said I get a lifetime warranty over the phone and when I read the contract, it wasn't in there. What we asked for, we didn't get. He did the fence how he wanted to. Please do not use this company. THEY RIPPED ME OFF! THEY WERE HORRIBLE!

Great! The installer showed up on time, was professional, and did an excellent job. Would definitely hire again.
