I met with this company on Saturday, April 6th to walk through my property. I have about two acres of land and water that needs a significant amount of attention. In other words, I have a lot of potential business for this company. We met for about thirty minutes on April 6th and discussed several near term and long term options. I was told that I would hear something back in 2-3 days; however, it is now two weeks later and I have not heard anything. I have even called and left a message to see the status of my estimate. Nothing. I try to give everyone in the business world the benefit of the doubt; however, I refuse to chase after people to do work for me. If you cannot or do not want to do the work, just give me a call so I can move on to someone else. I have now lost two weeks.

We did not pursue this company due to the problems with keeping appointments

We had extensive yard work, like flower beds, mulching, trimming and planting some bushes, a drainage system to prevent swamping. Excellent job overall.

I had standing water under the deck in my back yard and needed a fix. A-1 came out and installed 12 tons of sand to grade the level away from the house. Very nice job.

I truely appreciated their promptness and work ethic while doing this job. I would definitely hire them again.

We had a huge drainage problem around the house. The gentlemen came out and they were able to complete the job within a few days. They were really nice and explained everything to us. We just had a bunch of rain and I have not had to worry about anything coming into the house or garage or anything. I have been extremely happy.

Before the drain was installed, my entire yard, front and back, would flood and remain saturated for days. I couldn?t even stand in one spot anywhere on my lawn without sinking and subsequently tracking mud into the house. I decided to wait until the passage of Hurricane Sandy to write this review. We experienced three full days of heavy downpours. The drain exceeded my expectations, working perfectly throughout the storm. Moreover, my yard was bone dry within a day of the storm?s passage. My shed, which would literally flood with six inches of water, was unaffected by the storm. I could not be happier with the quality of work and professionalism exhibited by Steve and his team. If I were to rate A-1 on Angie?s List I would give him the highest possible score. Steve exhibits a professionalism and work ethic that is sadly uncommon these days. I could not be happier that I chose him for this important project, and have no doubt that he will deliver similar results for anyone who chooses to hire him!

Arranging for the work to be done was fine. His crew worked hard and hauled away the tree stump and concrete from the patio. When I looked over the work as they were finishing up I asked Steve to take care of a couple of areas in the front yard that still needed grading. He did so immediately. I was hoping for more even grading overall, but the work that they did was a vast improvement and I felt like I got my money's worth. I am happy with the job.

Initial installation of sod went well. After a few weeks of growth, there was an unusual amount of weeds throughout the sod. After expressing my concerns with Mr. Nassan, he brought his crew back out and removed all the weeds, edged and mowed the yard for no cost just to make sure that I was pleased with his work. Mr. Nassan will go out of his way to make sure his customers are satisfied with the work performed, and it was much appreciated.

He did a lot of stuff, but a lot of the things he did do ended killing my centipede grass. I will be taking photos of areas that were supposed to have be done that were not. It also seems that they used a shovel in the trenches, which seems to have tampered with my sprinkler system - causing a bit of flooding. He apparently doesn't know the difference between grass and an ornamental glass. He was a professional in terms of how he communicated with me, but professionally I don't think he knew exactly what type of product to use. The price was increased from the original quote about $400, which I paid in full. I will not be asking him to come back down here again. I am going to take care of the rest of this myself.

A-1 completely redid our back yard, installing paving stones, landscaping, watering system,etc.

The workers were always on time, and very friendly. Had a little problem with the drain but it was fixed the very next day without hesitation or question. Will gladly hire them again if needed.

Appointment was set by phone with the company for Sunday at 1pm. No one showed up for the appointment and no one has called to apologize or reschedule.

They were supposed to grind down the stump and I wound up getting a hard time from the owner. They said they did everything and there was nothing more. I expected from them what they had told me. The owner told me to read the back of the form because it explained exactly what they were responsible for but the back of the form that I got from them was blank. They did come down because I was trying to help my neighbor. I went fifty-fifty with him on the price for the trees that damaged my house. They didn't do the work on my own property properly. When they were trimming down some of the bushes, they cut the top of the sprinkler head so the water is shooting straight up, but they are following up on that. There is a guy coming down to correct the sprinkler head. They were pretty good. They responded to my calls. They charged me somewhere between two and three thousand dollars.

Angie's List recommended them. Steven is supposed to come down today to repair one sprinkler head. I also need to find out if it was his people that piled this big pile of dirt against my neighbor's fence where the tree was removed. It's a cedar fence and that can rust the fence out. They did an excellent job on pruning and taking down the trees and grinding down the stump. Steven has been very responsive. He even called me yesterday which was a Sunday. He was going to come out to repair the sprinkler head. I wasn't going to be home and I don't keep the sprinkler system on. I shut it off at night. He would have to get into the garage to turn it on and since nobody was going to be at home, he was not going to be able to repair the sprinkler head unless it was turned on. He is supposed to be here this afternoon. I think his professionalism was excellent. So far, I think the quality was pretty good too. He did what he was supposed to do. I had no problems in talking to him and questioning him. The only problem I had was I called him by the wrong name. The price was very good. The price on everything he did was almost $5900.00. I thought it was worth it. He also gave me a proposal for additional work for $2700.00. He did real well with the redesigning of the beds. The plants were not cheap. I am thinking of having the company come back to do what some other people did for me. I wanted the other people to come back, but they wouldn't come back to repair some of the stuff. I couldn't get anybody to do the work for the price that Steven charged me and he doesn't have a nursery. He had to go out and buy all the stuff and bring it here. He does the work and he picks up whatever material he needs so he has to go out and spend to get the stuff and bring it.

I called and immediately spoke to Steve. Very nice to talk to an individual rather than an answering machine. Met for the estimate and was on time. He was honest about the charges and did the work quickly.

They were very good. I was pleased with both their service and their price. Everything really was A-1!

Initially, when they installed the gutters, the water was not draining properly and when I called them, they came immediately. They took care of our sprinkling system. Usually, when they work on the gutters, there will be a problem with the tubes of the sprinkling system and my system had a problem for the past 10 years. They changed the sprinkler heads and fixed some of the lines, which was a good job. They also moved the system to another place, which is much better and balanced it well. There was another thing which had a small crack, that was leaking, but he had nothing to do with it, still he fixed the leak. He was prompt and did all that he said he would do. He does not charge you tremendously, infact his prices are fair. I will continue to use them in future.

Excellent! A-1's owner Mr Nassan came out and did the estimate for the lawn fertilizer/weed inhibitor, which was very reaonable, and scheduled the service very quickly. All service was very professional. Again, excellent service. A-1 come to my home and replaced at no cost to me the sprinkler control system. Very good follow up service by A-1 on all accounts.

Due to poor drainage in our backyard, we purchased 4 rain barrels to send the water to the front of the house which we found out after receiving 6 inches of rain was not working. We called A-1 Lawn and Landscaping and Steve was there the next day. He was able to get started approximately two weeks later and was done in two days. He had to redesign his original plan due to new gas lines being installed. They put down French drains and tubing running to the street, and leveled out the beds where the drains are located. The extra dirt was spread out in other parts of the yard where low spots were identified. We are now waiting for rain so we can see how well it works. For well over a year I have had a depression in the back yard, approximately 150 feet long by 10 wide, that failed to drain properly and would collect standing water after a large storm or several days of rain. Believing that the solution was either simply regrading with topsoil or installing a French drain, I contacted four different companies to give me an estimate on performing the work. Steve was the first to respond to my call, as well as the first to actually show up and provide an estimate. He quickly assessed the problem and felt that proper regrading would solve the problem and that a more costly, involved French drain would not be necessary. His price was competitive with the other estimates I received. Once I signed the contract, Steve returned in two days to complete the job. He and his assistant worked hard and completed the job in one day. In addition to the regrading, they also core aerated the yard. Steve is very professional, courteous, and honest. He did an outstanding job and the yard looks fantastic. Although we have not received any rain to test the new grading, Steve gave me a one year guarantee on the work, so that if I should have any standing water in the future, he would return free of charge to add some additional soil as needed. As is true of most things in life, you get what you pay for and Steve was fantastic. Not only did I find the right person for the job, I also saved myself time in the future by never having to call four landscaping companies again - should I ever need landscaping work going forward, I will simply call Steve and get it done. I would absolutely recommend him and will certainly use him again.

I called Steve and he immediately returned my call and scheduled an appointment to come over and give me an estimate on the work. I don't remember the dates but there was almost no wait from when I called and when he came out. He gave me a bid on the job, written out, specifying the work that needed to be done and how he would complete the work. The price was higher than the guy who came out to bid earlier in the day but I could tell that in the end I'd save money with Steve because I'd only pay once to get the job done right, and I'm tired of hiring the cheap guy because I almost always get what I pay for. In this case it was true as well. Steve was always on time. When he came to give me the contract and get the deposit he even helped me out (we were standing in my dimly light house) by changing some light bulbs I couldn't reach and didn't have time to change. He's a nice, polite, friendly, man and I was happy and comfortable through the entire process. He started the job almost immediately (weather permitting) and outlined my beds. For nearly a week he and Rocco (I believe that was his name) were over at my house early in the morning and worked through the day. The work was completed in a week, they cleaned up after themselves, were always friendly and polite to my children, and the job was done beautifully. I wish I didn't have to spend so much to spruce up my yard, but watching the two of them work for days, carefully pruning my shrubs, on their knees pulling weeds, dragging mulch and soil, and rocks to my newly shaped beds, I realized that I had spent my money well. I would recommend Steve for any landscaping job. He's not going to be the cheapest bidder, but if you are going to have to do the job twice, he just might be!

As the work progressed and Steve transformed our yard we added to the project to include sod for a totally new look and outdoor lighting. We loved his work but I must warn you that Steve’s skills do not stop there. When you see his finished work and our yard you realize that he is an artisan with incredible talent. If you want a professional job you have found the right person.
