A Friendly & Affordable Mover

I was super impressed with the movers from A Friendly & Affordable Movers. They arrived promptly during the promised window, and they immediately got to work after confirming the inventory of my belongings. They did not waste any time talking or slacking off. Three gentlemen had my 1 bedroom apartment on a third floor walk-up packed within 1.5 hours. Two of the men had to drive my stuff 5-6 hours away to my destination. My mother met them at that location, and she said the men worked extremely hard (again having to go up a flight of stairs) and had everything unloaded within 2 hours. They took extreme care in covering my furniture with blankets and nothing was damaged. They were much more affordable than other options I considered. I would use them again and recommend them in a heartbeat.

Outstanding! Office staff (Barbara) pleasant and professional. The owner was quick to respond and accommodated our schedule on short notice. Crew leader (Chris) was personable and efficient. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend this company to anyone searching for a pleasant experience with positive results! I compared several companies for pricing and A Friendly and Affordable Mover lived up to its name - definitely affordable and friendly!

From the first phone call to the our estimate and move everything went well. The crew showed up on time packed our belongings with no damage and placed everything in our new home in a timely fashion. We couldn't have asked for a nicer bunch of men that moved our furniture; and if we move again they will be the first ones we call.

It was very good move. They showed up and had the truck loaded in no time. They broke down a king size bed among other rooms of furniture and you hardly knew they were there. Everything was covered and protected. Moved all my belongings about 4 rooms of furniture and then unloaded in new home and reassembled my bed and connected my computer all in about 3 1/2 hours. I was very pleased with the move.

I packed up the kitchen myself as well as all of my small items. I had them disassemble all the big pieces, like the bedroom furniture, night stands, dressers, entertainment center, etc. and reassemble it at our new apartment. I also paid them to put all of my clothes that I had just dry-cleaned into wardrobe boxes on hangers and to hang them up in the closet at the new apartment. This was discussed at the time of the estimate and included in the total cost of what I paid. I paid $200 for them to do that. When it was time for them to go, I had my 9-month old daughter and wasn't able to check everything before they left. Once they left, I checked over everything and realized that not only were my clothes not hung up, but they were put in old, used, regular-sized boxes that were basically falling apart. Now I have to get them all dry-cleaned again. They also damaged my dresser. I called on Monday and spoke to Barbara at the office. When I explained to her the issue with the clothes, she just told me to take out the clothes and hang them up myself. I told her that I paid $200 extra for them to do it. She never apologized. I called back later that day while the owner was in the office and he told me that he would come out on Tuesday. When he came out today, he did say that he would send someone out to repair the dresser but he refused to reimburse me for the issue with the clothes and said that they do not put clothes away, they just pack it up. This was not what I was told during the estimate. Again, no one apologized once for me being charged for something that did not happen.

They came as promised and did the work we needed done, moving a 3BR home into a moving truck. (Had additionally planned to use a storage pod but had issues with that. We would have used their truck if we had been able to reach them over the weekend when the storage pod issues occurred,) The work was done in the time forecasted, three hours, and they arrived on time. I would probably use them again, but with some reservations. There were three reasons that I didn't rate them an A: 1. The crew leader seemed to want to get in and get out. Even though we provided moving blankets and pads, they didn't want to use them on our wooden furniture until I called into the office and they agreed to use them on pieces that hadn't yet been moved. I had also pointed out a number of boxes that we had staged in the garage, and the crew leader acted as though I hadn't pointed out that those had to be loaded as well. Note that we have not had a chance to see how our furniture looks, as it is still in storage. 2. The property had a narrow staircase that is hard to navigate with large piece, and I had provided a recommended workaround that they used for all but one piece. However, that one piece was the first one they tried, a large bed headboard, and they ended up damaging the wall (a small hole and scrapes on the paint). They would have come to repair the wall for free the following day, but we were closing on the house that that day so we ended up fixing the wall ourselves. 3. They insisted on billing the whole job in advance, even knowing that I had an Angie's list coupon (which they didn't apply). Fortunately they did show up, but they didn't apply the discount coupon until I called them about it three days later, and it sell has not been credited to my account more than a week after the move.

The movers arrived on time and got right to work however as I am disabled I was unable to watch all that they did. My mattresses and box springs arrived with black grease on the sides and soiled Handprints on the headboards. An art piece is damaged. And Vaneeee was hanging off in several places. To be fair it was loose in some places. My sofas leather arm is ripped back with staples hanging out and the side leather split. I haven’t reported as I read my contract and it says I agree to be responsible for first 500$ in any damages I couldn’t watch care or packing. I’m deeply disappointed in my movers and myself. The price was right at 1300. But not with all the damage.

It started off Great, but then at the last minute the Realtor informed us that the house was not yet ready, So the we had to find a storage unit to move our things to until we could officially move in. The movers arranged everything in the storage unit very neatly and handled the entire move quickly and very professionally. I will be using them again once we have the all clear to move into the house. Great job and very Inexpensive.

These are the BEST movers!! We have used them 3 times!! The esitamtes are alwys reasonable and affordable. No flim flam, no changing prices, they cover everything from boxes, packing, loading and unlaoding into storage. We've had the same staff twice. This last move was just as smooth as the last two, the staff/packers took great care in packing, they sent over three guys to pack up, very professional and caring, they did a great Job!! On the day of the move they sent over 4 guys always showed up on time and very Caring!! Try them, you wont be disappointed!!

This was a terrible experience. BLUF: over-the-phone consultation approx. $450-600; ended up paying $1,050 !!! When I scheduled the move, the clerk approximated a time range of 3-4 hours and a subsequent total cost of about $450-600 (3-4 hours at $150/hr) for 3 men and 1 truck. The clerk made this approximation verbally and did so by considering the apartment unit size, floor/level, and access to elevators at both origin and destination as well as a comprehensive list of all items to be moved. One of the three movers provided for the job was diligent and efficient. The other two were incredibly lazy and dragged the move out by several hours longer than expected; I was ultimately billed $1,050. I was clear with the 3-man crew that a timeline had been discussed and I intended to stay within that timeline; this was acknowledged by the crew and crew manager. At the end of the job, the manager of the 3-man crew admitted to me that he had to speak to members of his team regarding laziness and poor work. I was asked to pay $1,200 for the full time spent moving. I contested this and eventually spoke with the owner of the company on the phone. I informed the owner of the time/cost estimate relayed to me over the phone. I listed the the behaviors in his crew -- noticed by both myself and the crew manager -- that had contributed to a several hour delay in completion of the job. I indicated property damage to expensive furniture pieces. I requested an adjusted rate. The owner told me that no time or cost estimate had been given and that this was his best crew. In the end, he offered me a $150 discount. In the big picture of $1,050 spent when I expected to spend $450-600, this is ridiculous. I absolutely will not use this service again. Moreover, I will provide negative reviews of this company to anyone who is scheduling a move for as long as I am in the area. N.B. -- I realize many components go into the duration and cost of a move. In order to make this review as useful as possible to other members, I provide specific details about the items moved, distance, etc. below such that the reader can truly see what a scam this company is running: Distance: 3.1 miles Elevator access: reserved exclusively for my movers at both origin and destination apartments Items moved: 1 bed, 3 couches, 1 table, 4 chairs, 3 bar stools, 1 recliner, 1 chair, 1 nightstand, 2 tv stands, 2 TVs, 2 bookshelves, 2 dressers, 3 boxes, 1 bicycle.

Amazing! I wasn't expecting such a large crew (5 men). They immediately got to work. From the beginning until the end they were professional, polite, caring and patient when I was indecisive. Most notably was they were so quick. Usually you have to choose between quick and good service, but Friendly and Affordable offered both. They got to my home at 9 a.m. and by 11 a.m., I couldn't believe how much was already packed and put on the truck. The leader, Chris, communicated well with his crew and me, and kept the project organized.

The professionalism of the team was remarkable. Our team, lead by Chris, was very efficient, polite and some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. They paid attention to detail and didn't waste any time. They worked well as a team. Our appointment was scheduled for 9 and they showed up at 9 on the dot. I could not have been any more impressed, I wish I would have used them for every prior move!

I work in an industry where we have to move people out of their homes on a weekly basis. I only use A Friendly and Affordable mover when we need help on jobs. From the owners to the crews in the field, the customer service I receive is top rate. The first call I make goes to Barbara or Stephanie in the office, I know that they will do their best to take care of our scheduling needs. In the field, I prefer to work with Charles Musterman. Charles goes out of his way to oversee the crew, take care of the furniture, the home, and treats every project no matter how big or small exactly how he would treat his own belongings or property. I can not say enough good things about Charles, except that I would trust him to move my own home. WOW! Thanks for the recommendation of this company as the first choice - you were SO right! Dan fror A Friendly and Affordable Movers gave us an estimate last Monday which we found quite reasonable, plus he assured us that his people would go above and beyond what one might expect We signed the contract on the spot and this Monday they packed us out in and hour and a half and everything was in our new house before 3 pm. The crew was meticulous on both ends to be sure that every thing what was slated to go made in on the truck, they hauled several items out to the curb for bulk trash pick up, AND, although they warned me several times that the huge armoire that had to make it down a flight of narrow stairs had a base in extremely fragile condition, they also were cognizant of how much this antique from my grandmother meant to me. It now sits proudly and intact in our new home! And they did not leave until they were sure they had done everything possible to make it all right. I simply cannot say enough good things about the owner Dan who made us feel so comfortable that every single thing would be done to make this partial move (we will of course be back to them for the final move out once the house sells), and he definitely did not undersell the professionalism of his crew. Chris, driver and team leader, Lorenzo who despite only two years in the business has an uncanny eye for spatial relationships and boundless enthusiasm, and Gerhard who was the rest of the muscle on the move out - all so far exceeded expectations, it is difficult to compliment them as individuals and their corporate culture sufficiently. And PS - if you are well organized, it all goes so much more smoothly!

The move went without incident, and yes I would hire them again! Guys were great, professional and personable.

I was very pleased with the move. I had been a long time since I used a moving company but was very pleased with the price and quality of the service. I would recommend this company to anyone whether it's moving to another home or moving antiques like we did.

it went ok not great not perfect but ok. They seemed not very experienced with moving they left a couch because they couldn't figure out how to get it out the door.

Interview to give a price quote and list what I am moving was completed today. He had good advice on some belongings I was not sure to keep or not. Decided not to keep many things I was on the fence to keep or not. Moving date is September 11. Will update later after the move is complete. Don Frasier came today for the estimate and was very helpful, very good advice as well.

I expected great things after all the reviews. We actually packed about 1/3rd of our home in advance just to save time. On the day of the packing, the movers were friendly and helpful. However, they suddenly said they were done at 3pm. After surveying the house, they left approximately 1/3rd of the house unpacked, saying they would get it the next day. On the day of that move, they never touched the stuff that wasn't packed. We paid to have the garage moved, and they only moved the shelving units. I had to spend two full days packing and moving everything they left behind. I wouldn't have minded so much if I hadn't paid nearly 1k more than the other estimate I received due to their reputation. We have a newborn, and the whole reason we hired movers is because my wife is still recovering and we couldn't do it ourselves. The straw that really broke the camel's back was after the move. My daughter laid on her bed that they assembled and it nearly split in half. Upon inspection, they neglected to attach the center brace that holds the mattress up. The screws were entirely missing. I called the company to find out if they left them somewhere and was told I would receive a call back. To this day, I have heard nothing. This company was no where near worth the money we paid.

So far we have been quite pleased with the folks that we have connected with. Everything went well. We did not have any problems or concerns that I am aware of. They were efficient. They were able to get the job done pretty quickly. My son found them professional and courteous. There was no concerns or anything like that. They did a good job in a relatively quick turnaround. It was a good experience.

It was wonderful! This was probably one of the best moving experiences I've had as far as moving companies are concerned and I've moved more than 10 times in my lifetime. The owners were prompt and courteous and the two guys they sent to do the move were professional, personable, accommodating and very pleasant.....so much so I requested them both again on my second move. This is an A+++ company....You'd do well to hire them for a worry free move!

Arrived on time and communicated their process, but was not as careful with items nor concerned about the movement of items inside the home as I would have liked. Although they were timely, the could have ensured more care was taken with items. Nothing was broken, however, a few items received scratches and some walls needed to be touched up in both places they moved furniture out and into.
